🙄 The apologetic email from the CEO is really meaningless when that kind of stuff is still happening. Treating customers with suspicion is just awful, especially when you’ve been buying from them for a long time. This is the kind of situation that can take brands down.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/04/2021 11:41

@ScottishMouse

Oh my, you could not make this up. Got a refund email this morning for the two items I sent back on Tuesday (after waiting to return them to a store to avoid the online hassle and then finding out you can’t do that anymore). Yay, I thought. Opened it up and they had only refunded one of the two items. Spent 45 mins on the chat trying to sort it. Now I have to email them proof of purchase so they can check the weight to see if I really did send two items back!! So, you can’t return to a store, and if you return by post you have to then prove what you sent? I am so over this nonsense.
OMG😲

@Templetreebalm

Tala dress arived but woth no belt. 2 minutes on the phone and its being sent out to me. Lovely dress Smile
Really not on in the light of all the disorganisation going on. 🤞You get it!

Quite frankly I see nothing that is inspiring faith in their systems right now.
neveradullmoment99 · 30/04/2021 11:44

I have been tempted but not now.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/04/2021 11:46

They don't seem to know what they are doing. It seems highly disorganised and without communication between parts of their business.

Saurus72 · 30/04/2021 11:54

It just makes me think they must be outsourcing to save money (typical thing to happen after being acquired). They may be saving a few pennies but now they’re haemorrhaging customers.

Absolutely.
ToastCosILoveIt · 30/04/2021 12:28

@ScottishMouse, about 18 months ago I sent three items back with proof of postage and only one was refunded for. When I challenged it I was asked to provide the proof of postage: it seemed lost on them that they had obviously received the parcel as they had refunded one item. I provided the proof and they refunded. I now tend to photograph the return form and the items in the package as I have lost confidence in them. Your experience reinforces this. They have really lost their way.

Laska2Meryls · 30/04/2021 12:41

Oh My... it just gets worse... Sad

Yes @ToastCosILoveIt, I questioned what use a proof of postage would be given that they already had the return parcel. They told me that they need to check the weight on the receipt so they can check how many items were in the parcel.

Ridiculous! I mean seriously they weigh every garment to know this? It is really unbelievable.
neveradullmoment99 · 30/04/2021 14:17

Ilovecherries had similar issues way back.
Their customer services way back used to be outstanding.
I had a faulty tunic and emailed them and they issued a refund on the spot before having even seeing it. That was the days of the archive sales. That's how long ago that was. I think they ate struggling and have outsourced to save money. Only as spurs said, they will be losing it fast. Noones going to spend £££ to be confronted with these issues. Loyalty works both ways.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/04/2021 14:18

Saurus not spurs!

ScottishMouse · 30/04/2021 16:35

Argh. Why did I watch the latest IGTV styling video? That poplin apron dress is AMAZING!

ScottishMouse · 30/04/2021 17:41

I’m beginning to think I am jinxed. John Lewis have just messed up a return on me, refunding an item I didn’t return instead of the one I did. Sigh.

yesbutnobut · 30/04/2021 19:54

Thanks to the poster who introduced me to the IGTV styling videos. What with the website only showing a static photo of each item (useless) it's just great to see the clothes being worn, and being spoken about so knowledgeably. I'll be off to Toast in Notting Hill tomorrow to have a browse.

AFingerofFudge · 30/04/2021 21:13

That apron pinafore is calling my name but its not available on JL and I don't know whether to risk it or not .....

doorornottodoor · 01/05/2021 06:11

Hi all, I was on a previous incarnation of this thread under a different name.

Popped into Edinburgh Toast yesterday. God it was lovely to be back in a shop. I’d forgotten how gorgeous the Toast fabrics are. The colours, fabrics ❤️.

Anyway, I thought they were a bit uptight (probably understandably) and didn’t seem to want me trying in more than one size. So a little off putting. One staff member lovely, the other a bit unfriendly.

I loved the check Plihu skirt and dress. I’m normally an 8 but they only had the 6 and 10 in the dress so I’ve ordered it online. The skirt in the 10 was nicely slouchy but I’ve ordered it in the 8 and 10 to try both at home. The waistband was relatively tight as @Laska2Meryls says. Gorgeous though and a bit edgy in the check which I liked.

I will report back!

doorornottodoor · 01/05/2021 06:12

@yesbutnobutWould you mind directing me to those please?

doorornottodoor · 01/05/2021 06:13

PS I finally got a refund for something from 4 weeks back that I’d posted. Bit annoyed to get an apology but no discount!

Laska2Meryls · 01/05/2021 07:58

That's useful to knowDoorornottodoor
Id have to size up then .. But I am still hoping that as ScottishMouse spotted one in her JL that it will go onto their website..
Still not convinced that they have sorted out their refunds
