Sorry for any confusion @Laska2Meryls, I saw the Pihu skirt in my local Toast not my local JL. ☹️

Laska2Meryls · 01/05/2021 08:46

Oh poo...😢, I am really reluctant to order from them knowing that I will probably have to send at least one size back ...

Did you at least sort out the JL refund? And any more news about the Toast one that went wrong?

Loved the jumpsuit Nikki was wearing in the video. I wish they’d give them a heater while they do it. They all look so blue with cold.

@doorornottodoor go to their Instagram page and if you look through posts you’ll find the videos, but I think maybe you can find the on their website go to Magazine then Style and Stories and then pick out the Styling Conversations videos.

ScottishMouse · 01/05/2021 09:12

Waiting for a response to my message to JL, I’m not anticipating an issue solving that one though, hopefully.
No response to my email to Toast with proof of postage. I will give them their 48 hours though before I get back to them.
Chatting to my neighbour about bad customer service yesterday, and she told me she had placed two orders with Toast this week, and both had been dispatched and delivered in their normal timeframe - dispatched day after ordering, and delivered two days later. So that and the fact that my refund was issued quickly (ignoring the problem with the number of items refunded!) gives me some hope that they are at least heading back to their usual speedy service. Not placing any more orders yet though.

ScottishMouse · 01/05/2021 09:15

From what you have said in the last @Laska2Meryls, I think we may be a similar shape, and if it is any use, I would definitely size up on a Toast skirt. I am usually an 8 in anything they have with an elasticated waist, but the last Toast skirt I tried was tight in a 10 and I had to size up to a 12 for the waist. I have also had luck asking them for an exact measurement before, maybe you could ask on the chat? Or even better might be phoning a store and asking them to measure them for you.

ScottishMouse · 01/05/2021 09:17

Weirdly, they told me yesterday on the chat that their stores are selling off stock they have had since they closed in December and have not been sent any new stock yet. I’m not sure how true that is though, my local store definitely had some things from the new collection, although they were missing a lot that had come out in collections during lockdown.

doorornottodoor · 01/05/2021 09:29

Anyone found a nice creamy t shirt anywhere? I don’t suit bright white. Needs to be a true cream. Thanks!

doorornottodoor · 01/05/2021 09:29

Ps @Countmeout thanks! I will investigate

yesbutnobut · 01/05/2021 15:26

@doorornottodoor hope you can find the link - I just started following them on Instagram and the videos come up in their posts. The new one was very recent.

I visited the Toast shop in Notting Hill today. Wow what a fabulous store. The dresses you're all talking about are just gorgeous. In this store they have a rail for second hand Toast garments which I think is a lovely idea.

Yorkshirelass04 · 01/05/2021 18:05

I've just seen the new Toast styling video on Instagram and have ordered the jumpsuit dress Nikki was wearing. I think it's lovely and definitely more what I expect from toast.

The other outfits in the video didn't do it for me, it was all rather garden gnomey.

Countmeout · 01/05/2021 18:45

Would love to hear what you think of the fit @Yorkshirelass04 . I am the same height as Nikki but more chesty. I thought it was lovely too but not sure I’d get enough wear out of it to justify the price. I see it’s lined so I’m anticipating it’s a similar fit to the Kado dress from last year which was very fitted and I needed to order a bigger size than normal to accommodate my chest.

Laska2Meryls · 01/05/2021 20:02

I just cant decide whether to risk more of my money on them.. Id really like to try the Pihu skirt.. but quite honestly do not know what size to go for.
But then there is the refund issue....
So ruddy annoying.. I always had confidence in them before all this recent debacle.. but after the last two refund problems , I just dont know...

If its small waist, I may even need the 16! 😲.. I have the wool checked one in 14..
So cannot understand Toast sizes. I gave trouser of theirs in XS!! But the linen striped jumper, I needed the XL to get the lovely loose fit ! This is what is so frustrating with them ..

Laska2Meryls · 01/05/2021 20:09

Then I have Francis and Emma tees in S, M and L! ( And they are all the same size..)🤷‍♀️

Tbh @Laska2Meryls if you know you are likely to return something then it would be a no from me for now.
Ive been tempted and putting aside a slow delivery [ You may even escape that] the worry is the refund.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/05/2021 20:19

Im not overly desperate to order anything personally. Would risk it if it were just an emma top or something like that, where I know the size [ well mostly! Your post made me laugh!] I would love to order a kantha but I daren't as the colours are a bit pick and mix.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/05/2021 20:20

I can't afford to have £200 plus money hung up on their stupidly slow system.

Laska, will they tell you the exact waist measurement of a couple of sizes if you email them?

I’m not risking buying anything until I can try on multiple sizes in the store itself. If they don’t let me do that yet, it’s a no go from me. I like the game pihu skirt too, especially styled with the woven belt.

AuldFox · 01/05/2021 20:48

Ignore the word game in my post, not sure where that came from!

Thanks to online ordering, I now know my exact bust, waist and hip measurements and I can be found emailing shops to check fit before purchasing every time. I’ve bought from Seasalt precisely because they list individual garment measurements on their website (bought a rather nice Ikat skirt, ‘twas a bargain!)

Laska2Meryls · 01/05/2021 21:10

I think it would definitely be the 16, but then I am slim hipped.,so a large size could just look whoomphy on me... I probably need a 12 hip and 16 waist! . Darn ! My nearest shop is Brighton..thats about 50miles.. .(Though I may be going Bath way in a few weeks. ).. I will leave it for now I think..

Completely this. I don’t use a credit card (only for emergencies) so if I order 2x dress styles in 2 sizes each, that’s the best part of £800-£1000. That is just not a thing - so Toast shops or JL only for me.

I think ideally you need to get a Kantha in a shop to get the sort of colour you want. I think I (mostly) have sizes sussed. Or can make a stab at what size I need depending on the style. I returned a Kin item to John Lewis yesterday so will see how their returns are functioning. Obviously we’re not going to get a sale until summer now. That may weaken our resolve.

I use a CC for anything over £100 as it gives you additional consumer protection.

MrsCat1 · 02/05/2021 09:02

I visited the Bath Toast shop yesterday. Had to queue to get in as they were only allowing 5 people in and only one changing room being used so had to wait for that. But saw lots of lovely things including that dress jumpsuit that features in the styling session, the gorgeous mobile (which is calling to me) and plenty of other goodies. I tried on 2 dresses but they didn't have the right size in either so I've had to order online. But it was a great day out.
