I have been to the Hampstead shop and I am reporting back to my fellow Toasties.
Firstly, they seemed to have almost nothing in store above a 10: some things but very few. Lots of the things I wanted to try for sizing simply weren't available.
I tried the Kala dress in a 12 (pesto colour) and it was huge on me even though I am a Toast 12 generally (sometimes a 10). They didn't have a 10 for me to try on and the pesto colour is all but sold out on the website. They were able to tell me which London shops had it in a 10 and I have ordered it from the Mayfair store to be delivered via DPD for £4.95.
I also tried on the Textured Check Cotton Dress - generously sized but the cut made it fine for me in a medium. Two things to note: a) it needs a nude slip under it as it is very diaphanous. b) Also, the neckline finishes fairly low and it doesnt button up to the neckline. I want to buy it but would get a popstud or a hook to as your cleavage is likly to be on show if wearing it. I don't think it is hugely revealing but just something to consider. I would love it for hot days in UK or when abroad, lovely dress.
I bought two things (even though I said I wouldn't and also have a friends 15% code to use online) - the Oxford dress in in Olive Oil. As reveiws have said, this comes up huge: they did have the 12 which I tried but i had to downsize to a 10 and probably could have gone down to an 8. It is a lovely fit on top but waist very low and lots of room below the waist. I also bought the brown leather belt in a large - can tighten a few notches in but (they didnt have any other size in store), wonder if the smaller size would have been less adaptable (might want it to cinch with it for a coat too).
I saw the Sleeveless Gathered Dress in store in the Navy: it looked fab but it's a silky material so i didn't try it on as worried about grease marks ( I am a messy eater)!
I tried on the Brushstroke Print Dress - true/generous in sizing, I liiked it but colouring and style not so much my thing. the 'tuliped shape' skirt adds width although its weight means it isnt too unflattering. It is hard to describe but it does add a bit of volume below the waist. It glistened and glowed in the lighting and is one for the sale for me.
I tried on the Lotus Floral nightie: they only had a small but that fitted fine: might want to size up to allow tossing and turning in bed. I am duie for major abdominal surgery shortly so looking for some nice nightdresses.
Finally, i love the Steve Mono Artisano Sandals. They are very marmite: you will love or hate them. i had to size up to a 6 (from a 5) but I have a dodgy left foot which means I now need a 6 even though I am a 5. They are simply lovely if you like that style: I would buy them in a heartbeat if they were a bit cheaper or I was a bit richer: I may well still buy them as an investment.
