I'm hoping to do that @countmeout - I've checked how long I can keep the 8 (14 days). It's such a perfect colour isn't it?

It's a kind of shirting cotton - not too likely to stretch I'd say

Oh, and it arrived crumple free and well folded in the paper bag!

ToastCosILoveIt · 30/06/2021 17:28

@faustina, I think that one looks great. I wore my Olive Oil one in a 10 last night for the first time having paid full price for it a couple of months ago Sad. I am a 12 and remembered it as huge but in fact it fitted on the shoulders and had an oversized but good look everywhere else. The red version arrived this am at sale price via John Lewis.

FiddleFigs · 30/06/2021 17:29

My cotton/linen trousers in olive arrived (neatly pressed and folded). I love them. Probably they’re a smidge too short (I’m 5’10”, so trousers often are), but lovely fabric and colour. Might keep an eye out for the spice colour in case of further reductions. Other than that, I’m being very good about resisting temptation!

faustina · 30/06/2021 17:39

@ToastCosILoveIt - thank you! I'm a bit worried about the buttons on a smaller size - in case they pull. I've never been a 6 on top! I tried the dark red from John Lewis, but the colour doesn't suit me - it is a great shade though if it does. Def going to keep one of the olive oil ones

dudsville · 30/06/2021 18:04

The denim panel skirt has arrived and thankfully will be going back. Toast is usually wonderful for pockets, but the placement of these, hidden within the front parts, make them fiddly to access and in doing so you puff out the pleats. Not pretty.

ScottishMouse · 30/06/2021 18:36

IMm eyeing up the cotton linen tapered trousers now based on these good reviews. Which colour did you all go for? And can someone tell me about the sizing compared to Alix trousers…particularly how the waists and hips compare? Thanks you bunch of enablers!

Blossomtoes · 30/06/2021 18:41

Bearing in mind that I always wear my clothes on the loose side, I think that dress looks perfect @faustina. The colour’s wonderful on you.

faustina · 30/06/2021 18:51

@ScottishMouse - I think the sizing is pretty similar to the Alix, except the tapered trousers waist is elasticated at the front as well, not flat fronted. I bought the green ones which I am keeping, and I ordered the spice which arrived today but I've sent them back as I thought the colour was a bit too bright

@Blossomtoes - thank you!

AmethystMoonShine · 30/06/2021 19:06

@faustina I agree that colour looks great on you. I also think the 8 looks good but if it were me I’d definitely try the 6 to compare.

applecatchers36 · 30/06/2021 19:10

Faustina the colour is stunning & would defo try the 6, I think your small framed and with these dresses being so oversized might work well for you...

ilovecherries · 30/06/2021 20:03

That’s how I’m hoping the 10 will fit me faustina. While 12 was too huge, and the 8 did fit fine, I felt it lost the oversized look it’s meant to have come think it looks great on you.

ilovecherries · 30/06/2021 20:07

I ordered this. I expected to hate it, but I rather love it unfortunately. Also the patch pocket denim jacket in grape, which I also love. This wasn’t meant to happen🤦‍♀️

Toast 7 - Onwards to brighter days, we hope ..
ScottishMouse · 30/06/2021 20:14

I love that jacket @ilovecherries! I reluctantly returned it earlier in the season. I looked again at it in the sale but have since bought something vaguely similar so I have so far resisted. It’s so comfy and lovely though.

Gonegrey31 · 30/06/2021 20:37

I’ve also bought that jacket ( tempted by the sale price) but have yet to receive it. Let’s hope we both love it Ilovecherries!

faustina · 30/06/2021 22:13

Thanks everyone - @ilovecherries the big red dress, despite being too big, still looked so nice on you. Please post pics of the 10 when it comes - and fingers crossed for all the people who ordered that jacket - would love to see what it looks like on!

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/07/2021 11:22

Does anyone have the Ashley Long Cropped Jeans? I have just got the 12s from JL: they are defintiely generous, they fit but some space. I am worried that as I wear them they will stretch and look too big. I am tempted to size down to a 10. A couple of the reviews say they stretch. Any views welcome if you own them.

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/07/2021 11:23

PS, love that the sale has given this thread an adrenaline shot.

iguanadonna · 01/07/2021 12:35

Lots of really very nice indeed clothes arrived today - on doorstep within 48 hours of ordering to Europe. Like ilovecherries, I did not plan on loving them all. But I do.

The Himari Floral Button Neck Nightie is absolutely beautiful. I have ordered another and the matching gown. The 18 is good on my wide shoulders and large bust - wasn't sure it would be. Lots of fabric in the body but not too much.

The Lento Floral Print Dress is a fun, fashionable cut. The review that suggests it's unflattering for a tummy is mistaken. Hides all kinds of evils - at least the generous 18 does on me. I'm an 18 in Seasalt, White Stuff, tho very hourglass so extra bottom and bust can be too big for tighter styles. This 18 is generous everywhere and looks nice slightly oversized. Hourglasses - get this dress.

The Crinkled Cotton Check Tunic will be a really nice autumn/winter top for my not-very-formal job. Wide neck flattering for wide shoulders and large bust. A review said that it's thick and not flattering, but I found rather the opposite.

The Olin Check Poplin Dress is not as tent-like as I feared. Needs a belt on me really, but looks nice anyway in an oversized-look sort of way. The colours are not quite as strong and dark as appear on the website. I was a bit surprising that it isn't lined, but it hangs well anyway and will be suitable for hot days.

So I'm back in love with Toast.

On the other hand, why does their swimwear only go up to 16? Do they think fat ladies don't swim? Cos we do, and we can stay in the water longer.

iguanadonna · 01/07/2021 12:42

Also, any advice on which trousers might suit the extremely curvy would be much appreciated. I really liked the video someone posted before of the woman trying and reviewing clothes. She's pretty much the opposite of me, being a neat size 8, so perhaps I just need to get the ones that don't suit her...

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/07/2021 12:59

@iguanadonna, I posted the Jenny Sue Garcia Instagram video showcasing the trousers. It is great to be able to get a feel for the torusers from it as Toast rarely posts on a model now (which is a mistake I think, accepting that lockdown has made things more difficult).

I wonder if the Toast cotton linen wide leg would suit you - on sale at JL at the moment. I have just had the 12s and they are true to size/slightly generous. They are the ones that Jenny loved but that didnt suit her apple shape. I am also an apple and am sending them back and have chanced the Toast cotton twill side button trousers in a 10 - they don't have the 12 which I suspect would be more my fit.

Link to said wide trousers below.

iguanadonna · 01/07/2021 13:09

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt! I've been eyeing those. Might well work.

I have the Felix Indigo Denim Trousers, which are fantastic, but I am still slightly too plump at the top of them. My teenager says they're fine, but I think they look too tight. They're one of the models with small waist.

And I have the Cotton Twill Side Button Trousers, which on the other hand are approaching too large, but utterly fabulous.

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/07/2021 13:12

@iguanadonna, great to hear that the side button twill trousers are big on you: gives me hope that I may squeeze into the ones I have ordered.

iguanadonna · 01/07/2021 13:18

They are very generous!

Countmeout · 01/07/2021 13:46

@ToastCosILoveIt I ordered the Ashley jeans but they haven’t arrived yet. What is the long crop like? Bit worried they’ll be longer than I want and now too big. Are they very stiff?
I see there’s going to be another styling video in igtv on 9th July.

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/07/2021 14:34

@Countmeout, the long crop is just above normal length for me and I am 5ft 5 and average body and leg length for that height. I wouldn't say they are too big but they are generous and I could tuck things in. I have the Annie side button denim in a 12 and they are a much snugger fit - I would never get into a 10 in the Annies. I have ordered the 10 now and they arrive at my local Waitrose tomorrow so I will be able to compare and send one back.

They aren't stiff, no and are medium weight so will carry you through all seasons.

Really looking forward to the next styling video. The last one did wonders for the Organic Poplin Jumpsuit I think.
