@Countmeout

Hi *@LetSophieGo* I think both those are the same as styles in previous years, the yellow triangle dress and the one with deep purple triangles. I am 5’4” too, bought both in a 10 but I am busty, they’re two of my favourites. Photo found on John Lewis. Hope that helps
Thanks so much for that! Really appreciate it.
LetSophieGo · 23/05/2021 19:36

@Gonegrey31

Hello Sophie it sounds as though we are similar size/ frame. I usually take an 8 in Toast. I’m flat chested. Dresses where reviews say come up large I have sometimes been a 6.
Yes, ive took a 6 in toast in the past but havent tried their dresses. It is so difficult to judge online - and I am terrified of purchasing from the website since the recent delivery fiasco!

Anyone had any luck recently?
There isn't a lot in stock at John Lewis..

@LetSophieGo

Hi Toast people! Can anyone help me with a bit of advice? I'm not new to Toast, but have never bought a dress from them.

I need to decent ones to fill a giant gap in my wardrobe and have settle on these. However, I am annoyed that they can't even supply one decent image of them on a model, or from the rear. A bit arsey if you ask me.

Has anyone seen them, and tried on? Any advice would be great. I am 5"4 and a UK10 (small frame though so often 8 on top). My boobs are smallish B cup.

Am also afraid they wont deliver them if I buy them thanks to the horror stories ive read here! Shock

If you call/ live chat or email them and ask for the dress measurements it will be easier to decide what size is best for you.

I believe they have had a new system that had problems when it went live but all that has been sorted now and I have had no problem with my orders and 1 return made.

I do find they are very generous with size and speaking to Customer service is key for sizing. Most of the team are super helpful. Some don't seem to be as knowledgeable. I find calling first thing bestWink

Just thought i would bump the thread as it was on page 6 or something and I lost it on my threads.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/05/2021 20:46

No-one buying then?

Countmeout · 26/05/2021 21:49

No not at the moment @neveradullmoment99. I’ve things in my John Lewis basket but waiting for a sale. Weather is so poor here at the moment I’m barely into summer stuff most days.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/05/2021 21:53

Yes, the weather is awful here too [Scotland] Just wet and not even very warm although the sun came out briefly and for that small time it was scorching. I just can't even be bothered to make much of an effort. No summer stuff at all here.

ToastCosILoveIt · 26/05/2021 21:53

Got a few things in the basket but can't quite bring myself to buy them...

This is the problem. Trust has been eroded.
neveradullmoment99 · 26/05/2021 21:55

I wonder if their sales have taken a hit?

neveradullmoment99 · 26/05/2021 21:55

Not many new reviews.

ScottishMouse · 26/05/2021 22:08

Had a wander into the Edinburgh store today, as I had an appointment around the corner. I wasn’t even inspired to try anything on. I think that is mostly the weather though, it has been so grim and I have been hiding everything under a waterproof jacket for weeks. I hope summer is on the way!

neveradullmoment99 · 26/05/2021 22:33

Next week/ weekend is meant to be better here! 🤞

Laska2Meryls · 27/05/2021 14:43

|There was a sale 31st May last year..
I have to say though that I am now feeling quite wary of ordering but if Pihu skirt is in sale I will try that ..

Also they are now going to charge £3 for sale returns..(its in returns small print ) ..
Am assuming that will also be for Kindred.. Angry

Very interesting re: sale @Laska2Meryls. I’m going to Cambridge on Saturday and planning to go to JL and Toast to try on the things that are on my shortlist to a) see if I like them in reality and b) work out sizing. Once the sale starts I’ll then know exactly what I want to order without the risk of needing to return, also means I will stick to my wish list and not get tempted by random items. I’ve been traumatised by reading about everyone’s experiences so not even going there.

Laska2Meryls · 27/05/2021 20:13

I have ordered this dress from John Lewis( not Toast).. looks good though and the rest of the La Galeria range is really nice I think

That dress looks gorgeous @Laska2Meryls.

iguanadonna · 28/05/2021 09:30

Does anyone have the lowdown on the Olin poplin dress?

It's beautiful and my colors but is it very full?

I'm hourglass 18, wide shoulders, huge boobs. Would I just look like an armchair?

ToastCosILoveIt · 28/05/2021 11:53

@iguanadonna, I have the Olin dress. It is a beautiful dress but the skirt is undoubtedly full although the pleats are big and lay flat. I am busty too and have a 12: the waist isn't tight and too fitted (but enough to be flattering) and I like the way it hangs. It doesn't draw attention to my apple shape. The only way you are going to tell is to buy it and see. You could try a shop if you are near one, but my experience (in London) is that the shops seem to carry a much more limited range of sizes than they used to.

I bought this year's Olin dress on the back of having bought the blue version from last year which I loved (and wore the other day).

ToastCosILoveIt · 28/05/2021 11:58

I gave the calendula linen sleeveless dress its first outing today: it felt fab and the nurse i saw complemented the colour. Husband also said it looked nice. I have the 12 but wonder if I should have also tried the 10 for sizing.

iguanadonna · 28/05/2021 12:14

Thank you @ToastCosILoveIt. That's useful. I live abroad, so returns even more of a pain. That's a shame that the shops don't have the full range of sizes - kinda the point of shops to be able to try clothes on. I'd love to plan a post-vaccine trip to London and go to a well-stocked Toast shop and end up spending more than I intended.

ToastCosILoveIt · 30/05/2021 21:48

The Stitched Masa Shibori Cotton Shirt came back into stock in a 10 so I have taken a chance (normally a 12 but sometimes a 10 in Toast). Every Toast shop I have been in, they had already sold out

Sooverthemill · 31/05/2021 09:21

Thought I'd share my new toastesque dress that I had made for me. I used this pattern and just bought inexpensive chambray to see how it looked and I think I may now have it made in more expensive linen. It has pockets! I'm going to look at their other patterns now

Toast 7 - Onwards to brighter days, we hope ..
cardoon · 31/05/2021 13:39

I ordered a couple of boy tees and tried to make an exchange as instructed on the piece of paper in with the order by phoning customer service. No can do! Apparently that piece of paper should not have been included Hmm. I also tried to leave a review, couldn't find a way so did a live chat and he said I would have been emailed instructions. Nope... what is going on, are they going bust?
