My Emma Aitchson Ripple necklace arrived last week and I’m delighted with it. It’s just as I hoped, perfect size... and I can legitimately wear it tomorrow Grin
Delivery seemed to be back to how it used to be in terms of time taken from order. Obviously I didn’t have to run the gauntlet of returns! Shock

ToastCosILoveIt · 18/05/2021 18:34

@AmethystMoonShine, I bought that ripple necklace last week too and loved it. I was in the middle of London have major surgery and on the day it was pushed to the afternoon and they let me out for a walk: there was a Toast shop within minutes of the hospital and I couldn't resist. I often make big impulsive purchases when under pressure or bad things are happening!

@KirstenBlest, I don't have the Ava Monkey boots, but i have often admired them. They would look great with jeans and with cord dresses etc.

AmethystMoonShine · 18/05/2021 19:22

@ToastCosILoveIt I hope you’re recovering well from your surgery. Flowers so glad you love your Ripple necklace too. I’ve worn mine today and it makes me smile. It feels very ME Grin

Saurus72 · 19/05/2021 11:27

Hello, this is entirely off topic however if anyone has thoughts/experiences to share I would appreciate it. I get an annual allowance from my job of a few hundred pounds to spend on ‘wellbeing’ things and I’m planning to buy some walking boots. I’ve never had any before, so no prior experience. I love the look of Sorel boots but reviews tend to say they’re not that comfy. I’d really love something that looks more like a Grenson/Sorel boot but that is practical for winter beach walking etc. I’m aiming to also buy a pair of Allbirds with the money, so I’m looking at a maximum of £150. My feet are fairly wide, size 6. TIA.

Hope you are recovering well toast. I had some major surgery in mid December about 8 years ago and was quite convinced I would die (I have to say it wasn’t THAT major that it was a real possibility, my surgeon did NOT expect me to die. But I do have anaesthetic risk factors, so I talked myself into it). When I woke up and realised I wasn’t dead I went bonkers (still in HDU) buying everything anyone had even indicated they would like for Christmas. That year is still referred to as ‘oh, I got that the Xmas mum didn’t die’. No Xmas before or since has come up to that standard 😀

I wear Brashers for serious low-level walking (rather than just strolling along an unpaved footpath), then I have proper hill walking boots. I think it depends on what exactly you anticipate doing in them. If it’s anything more than walking round forest trails etc, I’d consider going to an outdoor shop and being properly fitted. But I do love my grensons...but don’t like getting them muddy!
Saurus72 · 19/05/2021 12:18

Thanks @ilovecherries , I love the look of Grensons but they’re very expensive and yes like you, don’t really think I would be happy for them to get all scuffed and beaten up. We don’t do serious hill walking but during lockdown one of our regular life saver activities was walking miles on/by beaches, mainly pebbly (Suffolk/Norfolk coast), plus country walks etc - unless it’s super muddy I can wear trainers but when it IS muddy, they’re no good at all. Yes, my OH has suggested going to an outdoors shop snd getting properly fitted (Open Air in Cambridge is his suggestion) but I guess I’m kind of hoping I can get something I like in addition to what’s practical, really I should heed my mum’s ‘advice’ from when I was a teenager ‘it’s not a fashion parade, no one will be looking at you’ 😊🙄

KirstenBlest · 19/05/2021 13:30

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt, They are the burgundy ones. I really wanted the Solovair Astronaut boots but can't justify the £££.

@Saurus, go to an outdoor shop and let them advise you. Proper leather hiking boots need to fit well.

KirstenBlest · 19/05/2021 13:33

@Saurus72, have you seen the [[https://trailback.co.uk/product/womens-trailback-rigger-boot/ Trailback] boots. I love the look of them.

They look lovely but I only get £250 to spend on this!

KirstenBlest · 19/05/2021 17:30

I think they are gorgeous too. I'm seriously tempted.

Saurus72 · 19/05/2021 17:35

These might be good - need to try them though www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/p/zamberlan-womens-frida-gtx-boot-B2124163.html

KirstenBlest · 19/05/2021 18:00

They look great. Leather might be easier to keep clean. The staff at my local Costloads Oudoor are very helpful and will measure feet and advise.

Plexie · 19/05/2021 18:09

There's a thread about walking boots from earlier today:

Saurus72 · 19/05/2021 18:51

Ah thanks so much for that link.

doorornottodoor · 19/05/2021 23:01

I like this shop for outdoor stuff. It’s got a good mix of brands.

MaizeBlouse · 21/05/2021 12:09

Hi everyone I've been on a budget for the past few months so haven't posted since the toast 4th thread. But I've come crawling back!

I've basically lived in my cord and wool Gabis for the last few months. I have tried and failed to get some new jeans recently but none have been right.
I'd love to know if anyone has the Felix Indigo jeans and could let me know what they're like please?

Templetreebreeze · 22/05/2021 09:59

Morning!
Not much buying going on over here.
The whole returns issue has really put me off tbh
Probably wait for the sales now

Bimblesalong · 22/05/2021 11:31

@Templetreebalm yes, sadly the mess ups have put me off too

Now ... practicalities. I have a pair of the cream
Novastar plimsolls which are great. They are due a wash - anyone just bunged theirs in the washing machine? Any tips?

Countmeout · 22/05/2021 12:35

Me@Bimblesalong. . I have the off white (cream possibly) ones. I took out the insole thing and bunged them in the wash. I felt they fitted me better after but seemed to have no ill effects. Came up really well.

Bimblesalong · 22/05/2021 19:18

@Countmeout Thankyou.

LetSophieGo · 23/05/2021 14:50

Hi Toast people!
Can anyone help me with a bit of advice?
I'm not new to Toast, but have never bought a dress from them.

I need to decent ones to fill a giant gap in my wardrobe and have settle on these. However, I am annoyed that they can't even supply one decent image of them on a model, or from the rear. A bit arsey if you ask me.

Has anyone seen them, and tried on? Any advice would be great. I am 5"4 and a UK10 (small frame though so often 8 on top). My boobs are smallish B cup.

Am also afraid they wont deliver them if I buy them thanks to the horror stories ive read here! Shock

Hi @LetSophieGo I think both those are the same as styles in previous years, the yellow triangle dress and the one with deep purple triangles. I am 5’4” too, bought both in a 10 but I am busty, they’re two of my favourites.
Photo found on John Lewis.
Hope that helps

Countmeout · 23/05/2021 16:01

Sorry made a mess of photos another try

Hello Sophie it sounds as though we are similar size/ frame. I usually take an 8 in Toast. I’m flat chested. Dresses where reviews say come up large I have sometimes been a 6.
