@Toast1997
Speaking only for myself I'm finding your being on this thread rather provoking actually.
You have come on to post the same generic messages that you put up on your own website in response to reviews.
We all know your contact email address and I don't need you to remind me of that thanks.
If you aren't actually going to engage what is the point of your haunting this thread??
You have ignored my emails to you (to the contact address you keep repeating on here) and when I post on here about that you ignore my post on here too. Which pisses me off even more.

chimneyswift · 06/05/2021 09:32

@NoCureForLove - just de- lurking to say I've also emailed Toast about their failure to renew my kindred membership, when I've been ( until now!) a loyal customer. I received a kind of sorry/ not sorry response about how inclusion is based on a marketing algorithm and customer service cannot - apparently- influence this process. I emailed them back and was also blanked. So I share your irritation!!

NoCureForLove · 06/05/2021 09:39

I know GRRRRR.
The being ignored has made so much more pissed off than I would be otherwise.

I HAVE SPENT A LOT - A LOT - OF MONEY WITH TOAST IN THE PAST YEAR. I AM REWARDED FOR MY LOYALTY AND SUPPORT BY HAVING MY KINDRED MEMBERSHIP ENDED /NOT RENEWED WITH NO EXPLANATION BEYOND A SHRUG THAT 'COMPUTER SAYS NO'. THAT IS A SHIT WAY TO TREAT YOUR BEST CUSTOMERS. I KNOW A FEW FRIENDS WHO HAVE HAD THEIR KINDRED MEMBERSHIP RENEWED SO FEEL SINGLED OUT / OVERLOOKED / VERY UNVALUED. AND THEN IGNORED. MORE THAN ONCE!

Sorry. Thought shouting might get attention as nothing else seems to... Hmm

chimneyswift · 06/05/2021 09:51

Clearly though- as I pointed out in my unanswered email- Toast has, in truth, no interest in rewarding the loyalty of frequent customers ( like us) but operate an algorithm designed to tempt occasional shoppers...
Fine: but call it what it is!

doorornottodoor · 06/05/2021 10:03

Yes Toast you’re quick to take my money but I’m still waiting for £310 in returns, both have been acknowledged over a week ago ( one took 4 weeks to process even to the point of email)

Templetreebalm · 06/05/2021 11:06

Had some JL vouchers so have ordered the

Bone Wool Cotton Gansey in M.
Im wearing the Navy/ Cream Wool cotton jumper that I got in the sale and its a really good weight for the chilly weather we are having.

Well said @NoCureForLove.

When I was in the Hampstead shop on Monday and gave my email address for an electronic reciept, the man serving me told me I had 49 transactions relating to that email address! He also commented on the "vintage" Toast dress that I was wearing! I assume those transactions are online ones plus the ones in shops when I have given an email for receipt purposes. It won't include the purchases made years ago under another email and the ones in the two or three London shops before the email reciept became a thing.

Like many of us on here, I am a loyal and regular custmoer, half my wardrobe is Toast and I spend plenty every season. The current attitide to us loyal customers and indeed to all customers has some way to go to reach even satisfactory whereas several years ago the customer service was really good. Less platitudes and more meaningful and empathetic engagement with proper recognition for us loyal customers is what is needed.

AuldFox · 06/05/2021 11:36

Hear, hear! Completely agree with you toastcosIloveit

I’ll be very disappointed if all we get is a generic post on this thread. That is showing utter contempt for longstanding customers. I spent thousands in this shop last year, I’m very put off doing so again.

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2021 11:56

Another customer service comparison. Take note @Toast1997.
Returned an order to Arket on April 20th and just realised I hadn’t been refunded yet. Checked the Hermes tracking, which had not been updated since April 22nd and still showed the parcel as in transit.
Hopped on Arket’s online chat. Explained the issue. Did not have to provide proof of postage, Hermes tracking number, or anything. Was asked what I had returned, which was the entire order. Was refunded immediately, no questions asked.
I was on the chat for a total of 3 minutes!
Worlds apart from my recent experiences with Toast.

AFingerofFudge · 06/05/2021 13:32

Would anyone like a distraction of seeing the poplin apron pinafore???

First of all, massive apologies, I am wearing my workout gear underneath it so it looks slightly strange! I had just got into it for a workout session when it arrived and I was too impatient to extricate myself from my leggings & sports bra!

It arrived within four days of ordering, also included was a random packet of furoshiki cloths!

The poplin feels absolutely beautiful, there is a lot of material there but it hangs really well and moves really well when I move. I love the idea of tying first at the front and then tying around the back. I have included photos so you can see how it comes together

AFingerofFudge · 06/05/2021 13:32

Apologies for the very grubby mirror Blush

Countmeout · 06/05/2021 14:46

That looks very nice @AFingerofFudge.. I think I love you because you have a grubby mirror. ,
My tala dress is on its way. Ordered Tuesday. I will be put out if I don’t get the furoshiki cloths. 🤣

Gonegrey31 · 06/05/2021 16:04

The dress looks just lovely AFingerofFudge - I’m so impatient for my Tala dress ...
Went to a branch of John Lewis today, first trip to the shops since March last year, all very strange. Heartbroken to discover that they no longer stock Toast in store . I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made an impulse buy of Toast clothes having seen them on the shop floor. I’m a long way from a Toast shop.

faustina · 06/05/2021 16:21

That is lovely @AFingerofFudge. It's so cold I'm not feeling the urge to buy much at all, but you're tempting me...

I don't suppose there's anyone on this thread who knows anything about knitting is there?

You called? Grin
faustina · 06/05/2021 19:08

@Templetreeee - oh brilliant! So I haven't knitted anything for years, but I've downloaded a vintage pattern which says it needs DK wool and 4.5 needles, however all the nice DK wool I wanted specified 4mm needles. What's this going to mean? (have also ordered 4mm needles)

DK is generally 4mm or 4.5mm needles.
The thing to do is to check your tension/ gauge on the 4.5mm to see if it matches the pattern / gauge.
Its usually rows/ stitches over 10cm

Templetreeee · 06/05/2021 19:51

Oops posted too soon.
You can then go up or down depending on whether too tight or too loose

faustina · 06/05/2021 20:04

@Templetreeee - thank you! I'm picking up the wool tomorrow so will do what you suggest - it's a slipover/tank top so if the size isn't quite as it's meant to be it hopefully won't matter too much

Sooverthemill · 06/05/2021 20:19

@faustina I do a lot of knitting and you really must check your tension on the needles suggested and don't be scared to change needle size. Knit a swatch 6 stitches more than the suggested tension and about 10 rows more ( so for 22 stitches , 28 rows for 10 cm cast on 28 and knit 38. Measure the 10 cm square in the middle and mark with pins and count carefully.). If the number of stitches between the pins is less than that specified in the pattern (even by half a stitch), your garment will be too large. Change to smaller needles and knit another tension sample. If your sample has more stitches over 10 cms, the garment will be too small. Change to larger needles and knit another swatch. It's time consuming!

faustina · 06/05/2021 20:48

@Sooverthemill thank you so much! It's been about ten years since I made anything and I've forgotten it all!

I will confess that I rarely,if ever knit a swatch to check my tension 😂
I just start with a sleeve and check it half way up.
Ive been knitting for 40 something years and have only changed needles once in all that time .
However dont do this, check your tension.

clearsky · 07/05/2021 10:53

I placed an order on Tuesday, got an acknowledgment email straight away and the order arrived this morning. Pretty good. I haven’t had a chance to look yet as at work.

Is Toast on this thread? The messages seem to be deleted.

Sooverthemill · 07/05/2021 11:02

@Templetreebalm I know! I've been knitting for about 55 years ( eek) and I've recently started to be more rigorous with tension after a few disasters with size and running out of yarn. Tbh I just test a new yarn I've not used before and use the tension given on ball band rather than on garment over the pattern unless it's really complex.
