Sketchers

Are sketchers considered naff or frumpy? I'm early 40's..

I’ve told my Dd that the day I buy a pair of sketchers she is to push me under a bus & put me out of my misery 😂 I’m 45 (and admit to being a bit of a trainer snob)

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 20/03/2021 19:15

I love them. Soooo comfy!

Providora · 20/03/2021 19:18

My 75yo mother wears them. I wouldn't.

KitchenFairy · 20/03/2021 19:20

I have Sketchers and I love them, they are like walking on air.

I also have Alexander McQueens, Stan Smiths, Veja and Jimmy Choo trainers.

Not sure then where I stand between deserving of being pushed under a bus, or a being a trainer snob.

If you like them, buy them!

Theunamedcat · 20/03/2021 19:20

I've wore them for ten years they are comfy but terribly bad for your feet

mrssmiling · 20/03/2021 19:20

Interested by this. I thought the same early 40s, but a few years on, with slightly painful feet (due to unwise shoe choices 20-40!) a summer in Skechers was wonderful - like wearing outdoor slippers! People also said ‘like your shoes!’ 😉

SherlocksDeerstalker · 20/03/2021 19:21

Yep, sorry. Definite old lady territory.

Roselilly36 · 20/03/2021 19:22

I love Skechers, really comfy, lightweight, lots of styles, I am late 40’s, DS’ & DH wear them too.

Mygardenisnotperfect · 20/03/2021 19:23

I’ve worn them all through my 30s because of plantar fasciitis after pregnancy and loads of people have said “love your shoes”. I’m horrified to think people see them as frumpy old lady shoes! But I also don’t care, they are so comfy and I just can’t take being in pain with my feet all the time for fashion anymore at this age .

ParkheadParadise · 20/03/2021 19:24

I wouldn't wear them.
My mil has several pairs she's in her 70's.

Popcornbetty · 20/03/2021 19:25

All the Mums in their 30s wear lace up type on the school run so I’m surprised by the comments here. Nobody older wears those kind only maybe slip ones which I do class as old lady.

fellrunner85 · 20/03/2021 19:26

My mum loves hers and she's in her 70s. There are trainers that are just as comfortable yet don't look as frumpy.

Popcornbetty · 20/03/2021 19:26

slip on*

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 20/03/2021 19:27

I always think Skechers are universal like Converse are. Any age can wear them. I wear Converse with either jeans or dresses.

There are some trainer designs that are too bright for me but they are like wearing slippers, incredibly comfortable. I have their flip flops, their sandals, those go walks (like Toms) and several pairs of their trainers.

Popcornbetty · 20/03/2021 19:28

Also couldn’t see anybody elderly in some of the styles as they really are younger. If anything I’ve seen frumpier Adidas and Nike trainers at times!

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 20/03/2021 19:29

I think when people are saying old lady are you only thinking of Go walks?

Because these are not something my Mother would have ever have worn.

Popcornbetty · 20/03/2021 19:29

‘‘always think Skechers are universal like Converse are.

Exactly this ^

speedywotsit · 20/03/2021 19:33

I wear sketchers trainers at 44. I've never seen an old lady wear they type of trainers I wear....there's also about a million types of shoes that sketchers do...I'm not sure OAPs are rocking all these looks.

Personally I think of sketchers as being pretty universal.

Pinchpot · 20/03/2021 19:35

Who in their 30's or 40's would care what others think.

They are comfortable so go for it.

Marble2302 · 20/03/2021 19:39

The lace ups are OK but the Go Walks are for Nan's 70+.

doctorhamster · 20/03/2021 19:40

I've never seen an old lady wearing a pair of Skechers. I see loads of mums wearing them on the school playground.

Pinchpot · 20/03/2021 19:42

Again anyone to judge someone on their runners says more about them

buckleten · 20/03/2021 19:43

I have four different pairs of Skechers trainers, and a pair of fur lined winter boots, and I love them all! I am in my 40's both of my teenage daughters wear Skechers trainers also.

Mygardenisnotperfect · 20/03/2021 19:46

😂 I’m afraid I’m guilty of wearing the gowalk types (as well as other kinds)! (I am early 40s but have been wearing them since early 30s). In my defence I was desperate to find something for raging plantar fasciitis for years which had my crying in pain just walking around my own house and putting off going upstairs to the loo due to pain. And the gowalks were the only thing that ever helped, had injections everything! I do tend to buy the bright pink/red/turquoise etc type ones rather than the beige/brown type though.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/03/2021 19:48

I wear them every day.
