Are sketchers considered naff or frumpy? I'm early 40's..

@Bagelsandbrie

My 18 year old dd and my 34 year old very trendy dh wouldn’t be seen dead in them so that says it all for me. I would wear them for sight seeing or walking loads as they’re super comfy but if I want to look fashionable I’d go for New Balance / Adidas / Nike brands. Depends if someone cares about fashion or not! Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.
Gosh. Well if your DH is so very trendy and he says no....well, I suppose we all need to bow down to his trendy greatness.

Ffs. What a completely ridiculous thing to say.

Maybe it is because I am an old gimmer, but I just don't view trainers as a trendy and fashionable item. I see thm as something practical to wear either for a fitness class, running or to do a lot of walking in. If I wanted to look fashionable it would be for something that didn't need to be p;ractical.

My MIL and FIL are obsessed with sketchers. 'Ooh we've just been to buy some new sketchers for our cruise' 🤣

Popcornbetty · 21/03/2021 14:04

@Oliack1417 they have good taste!

WindyPudding · 21/03/2021 14:15

See I don't really get the Toms and Vans thing - trendy but to me look really unstylish and shapeless. It seems to me that anything can become the cool things and it's nothing to do with how they actually look.

So I predict Skechers will soon be having a massive moment and we're just ahead of the curve :o

RampantIvy · 21/03/2021 14:35

I think the problem with Sketchers is that they have a frumpy image, even though they have now widened their range to include some really unfrumpy looking footwear.

I really dislike the sneering ageism on this thread and other Style and Beauty threads though. This forum isn't only the preserve of the twenty somethings.

They do nice comfy work shoes

LadyEloise · 21/03/2021 16:06

Popsy321 i forgot about my Clarks Cloudsteppers. Mine are frumpy but comfy. I must dig them out. Smile
