Carrying on the great tradition of this thread - where those that are addicted to beauty products come together and support one another!

My Empties are:
Fresh Rose Deep Hydrating moisturiser- gorgeous have bought this several times from Cult Beauty in UK
Anastasis BH powder Highlighter- used to be mad on it but much prefer EL Modern Mercury now
Simple Eye Balm eye cream - cheap and good for the money

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 28/03/2021 17:02

Ahhh... I get it. We’re supposed to use up and bin the empties 🙄

With some of my stuff, I just want to bin!

Ozzybobz12 · 28/03/2021 17:06

haha get the stuff you no longer want chucked out! I do that too. We need to make room for the good stuff! Wink

FreshFaceTime · 28/03/2021 17:11

@HeraInTheHereAndNow before I found this thread I did end up chucking out some truly manky stuff that had been lurking in the back of the bathroom cabinet for god knows how long. Had started working through some of the more respectable bits (and buying a few more) and now that I'm here I've felt a bit more committed to using older products up before opening new ones. So I wouldn't worry about chucking stuff if it's rank or deep down you know you can't face using it all. But you might find that now you've joined the thread you are a bit less impulsive with your purchases and a bit more determined to work through your products before splashing out on anything else. Tis a great thread!

AprilLady · 28/03/2021 18:03

This weeks empties attached.

Delilah mascara was from F&M advent. It was okay, brush a bit bigger than I like, but otherwise fine.

Loved the scent of the Diptyque Philosykos, but it didn’t last long at all, which is a pity, because otherwise I would consider repurchasing.

Rose Sea Soak was okay, prefer bath oils to bath salts though.

Not sure the Eye masks did much, but they feel nice on.

Aesop Hydrating cream was very rich, so only used at night. Would be better for dry skin than my oily/combination skin I think.

Pure moisturiser also fine, but won’t repurchase. Did like that it had SPF15.

I like Elemis body creams in general, but the Neroli Blossom is not my favourite.

Nice to have lots of new posters on the thread. I find it does incentivise me to finish things up before I open new stuff. So, for example, I no longer have 4 or 5 moisturisers on the go at the same time.

VanGoghsDog · 28/03/2021 18:16

I'm really hoping to be inspired to use stuff up, but I will purge and throw away things that really are very old/manky or won't be used.

I like repurposing things - so ideas on that are welcome. I have a lot of hand creams and body lotions, I'm really lax at using that sort of thing. But I will try to use them up.

Putting things where they will be used is a good start.

I have thin hair, medium length, and a small face, so I probably use less of everything than other people. I almost never wear make up (I've never used up a mascara in my life, for example) though I buy loads.
I am always looking for the thing that will sort out my skin and make everything perfect, but I never find it :)

clary · 28/03/2021 18:52

@VanGoghsDog put a handcream in every place - in the car, in your bag, on your desk (home or work), in the kitchen, in the loo - then use every time you are in there.

If you have a lot of body cream try the same trick (not on your work desk haha) - bathroom, bedroom, shower room. Stash one in your gym bag for when we can do that again.

I've started wearing a full face of makeup whenever I do go out, even just to the opticians or to work. Focusing on eyes as that's all anyone can see :)

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 28/03/2021 19:01

I’m going to put a small “contingency” makeup bag in the car. There are days when I’m out all day and now, with masking up, my makeup’s gone from the nose down so, I come home looking bright and beautiful (😉) from the eyes up and utterly washed out below that.

I do “face” every day cause I love doing it. I think an emergency mini-bag in the car will help to relocate a few unloved items.

VanGoghsDog · 28/03/2021 19:26

I do have handcream in all my bags (not that I go out), and the downstairs loo. I wouldn't use it in the car, it makes the steering wheel slippy, plus the car has enough stuff in it with lip balm, hand sanitizer, mask, sun cream, CDs, etc. And that's just the stuff in the car, the boot is another story.

I don't have a desk, I work from home at the kitchen table, there is handcream by the sink (three I think!), on the table and in the loo. I still rarely use it all though!

Fispi · 28/03/2021 20:05

I've been lurking on this thread for a while too and have finally got some empties!

Fresh Rose Face mask mini - part of a Christmas gift, wouldn't buy the full size.

TO moisturiser + HA possibly a repurchase.

Lacura cleanser - not a rebuy for me, totally joyless (cleansing is my favourite skin care step)

Pantene shampoo used up as body wash as it made my head itch!

Bayliss & Harding body wash - Christmas gift and not a rebuy, I prefer bar soap.

I'm working my way towards having one of each product I need/use. This thread will hopefully keep my motivation not to buy a new make up base product due to boredom with my current one.

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 28/03/2021 20:14

@Fispi... I couldn’t do that. I buy everything in twos or threes as I hate it when stuff I love is discontinued. Or reformulated.

I’ve two moisturisers on the go at the minute and am working to just the Avene. But, I do LOVE. The Facetheory 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fispi · 28/03/2021 20:46

@HeraInTheHereAndNow it's been a process over time. I dont have much space to store things since becoming a parent and currently very little 'me' money so it's a good part necessity not virtue! Every where has been filled with toys and baby things. I want to have products I really love so those 5 minutes to myself for skin care or make up feel like a treat Smile

Babysharkdoodoodood · 28/03/2021 21:01

Well the Eclat shampoo from Amazon is doing the job (finally) with my itchy scalp so that's going to be a subscription thing. It's brilliant with no more itchies. Just need to sort out the skin on my tummy now, but I'm a bit more worried about that as my liver enzymes are up and it's a symptom of liver disease. Got another blood test next week. Sad

So sick of my stupid body. Cancer, mastectomy kidney problems. Every drug I'm on (a lot) causes weight gain so I can't shift it. Even tried fasting for a few days and my weight went up!

Anyway enough that. My birthday next week so I haven't splurged on anything recently in case DH comes through on my listGrin

I think SpaceNK is due a gwp soon as well. Plus my birthday gift. Might hang on until they're open and nip down to Leamington (if they reopen).

ememem84 · 28/03/2021 21:09

@VanGoghsDog I do the “snowball” thing with using up more than one open product.

I work out which is the nearest to being used up and focus solely on that one. So right now the hand cream is in my bag when I leave the house and when in the house I use it a lot. All others are packed away.

When this is done I’ll move on to the next most empty.

I keep getting sucked into Feelunique. Just looking though. I do not need anything. But I want.

Justilou1 · 28/03/2021 21:34

Oh gosh @Babysharkdoodoodood, you have had a lot going on! I hope all is okay! You deserve some downtime from all of this!

Experiment627 · 29/03/2021 13:39

Welcome @HeraInTheHereAndNow !!! You have found YOUR people!
You could always give your opened stuff away to a friend? Some women's shleters will accept opened stuff too.

Welcome @Fispi !!!

@Babysharkdoodoodood real hope you can get into better health. I am so glad you found a shampoo that helps! Best of luck with your blood tests.

Here are my empties:

  • The Body Shop aloe soothing night cream: ok but no way near HG status
  • Superdrug Vitamin E moisturising shower cream: adore the smell, but does not linger :(
  • Elemis Soothing apricot toner: so did not soothe! Did not really like the smell either. Was from an advent so at least not a massive amount to get through

I joined the Retro beauty thread and bought a shed load of stuff...including the Anne French cleansing milk which hurts like FCUK when gets in your eye... and the Fenjal shower oil cream thing... not sure if I like the smell but my nose is blocked so will give it another whirl.

Bayliss an Harding mousturiser finished today! Another Christmas gift that is definately not a repurchase. Only realised today it was probably that making my legs itch. Nice smell though and I appreciated the thought.

ememem84 · 29/03/2021 19:06

Clarins extra comfort toning lotion used up. Small sample size. Like it but not entirely sure it does anything.

Feels nice though.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 29/03/2021 20:32

Benefit goof proof brow pencil finished.

I really like this so will get it again. The last time I was at the counter I was talked into the micro filling pen as an alternative but I don’t like it as much. I will finish it up and then go back to the goof proof (on the assumption they haven’t discontinued it by then!).

CommanderBurnham · 29/03/2021 20:37

I found a box of samples today when tidying out a cupboard Blush. They're all high end so will put them in the stash and save some for travelling.

I'm saving so much atm. This thread has really helped me focus on what I use, and making a note of what actually works for me and what doesn't is stopping me making the same mistakes, such as buying a 3 for 2 on something that I've never used before, and really thinking about GWPs. Although I am saving some RPs for that.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 29/03/2021 20:43

A new day, a new delivery. I must stop ordering stuff.

The new haul included Inkey Retinol serum. As much as I am busting to try, it in the spirit of the new improved me (yeah right), I am going to finish my La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 serum first.

I give myself a week before I crack.

ememem84 · 29/03/2021 21:18

I’ve just ordered some bits from Feelunique (and have w code for 20% off of anyone’s interested. I’ll pm it?

Redken blue shampoo and conditioner
Charlotte tilbury eyeliner
Benefit eyeliner/highlighter - the pink one
Bare minerals foundation

Experiment627 · 29/03/2021 21:27

I so want the code @ememem84 but am trying to be strong

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName sounds like you could use BOTH serums...
