I really need to join this thread. I have been buying tons during lockdown, due to boredom.

I never seem to actually use anything up though, so I'm going to have a sort out, throw away stuff I really won't use and earmark a few things to try and focus on.

I can say that I used up a TO vit C powder last week (and pulled the replacement from my stash). It wasn't totally empty but the remainder had gone too hard to scoop out.
I've also discarded a gloopy nail varnish.

I can offer Unite dry shampoo as being the best I have used, though Batiste is fine.
And to use up perfume I put it in the downstairs loo and use it instead of air freshener (my ex was always giving me perfume and I barely use it plus he had no idea what I might like and just gave me anything).

Experiment627 · 26/03/2021 10:43

Welcome on board @VanGoghsDog!!!!
Where did you buy the Unite dry shampoo?

Hey ladies, been lurking here but inspired to post as in last two days I have finished The Ordinary hyaluronic acid (ok but not special) and gorgeous Lumene vit c cleanser I would deffo repurchase.

I am also throwing away one thing a day (for about a year now!) and finishing a product COUNTS too.

I had 2x Advent calendars (LF and Lumene) plus bits from DD's H&B so I have a lot to use! Also finished from ACs are lovely Rituals scrub yummy and Phillip K elasticiser which I also liked, plus Lumene moisturiser and face mask, hmm ok.

About to finish Elemis rose bath milk, v nice, and Lumene vit c aha which I also love. Also almost at end of Aurelia night cream which is ace but I cannot repurchase as I have soooo many night creams to finish! I am doing ok tho I think...

Experiment627 · 27/03/2021 04:42

Thanks @VanGoghsDog!!

Welcome @clary!!

Day 6 hair is a true story.

Clarins one step gentle exfoliating cleanser gone. Replaced with a full size of the same.

Mitchum deodourant gone. As above replaced with the same

Ponks · 27/03/2021 08:54

Finished: Pixi Glow Tonic , meh, only use it occasionally and not fussed. Got a couple of small sizes of similar tonics to use up.

Thrown out: Narciso perfume, freebie from John Lewis a while back, tried a spritz and yuk, in the bin it goes.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 27/03/2021 09:37

@Ponks I had the Pixi glow tonic on my wish list. Should I not bother?

Not an empty but I recently tried Nars liquid blush, orgasm. I am liking very much.

VanGoghsDog · 27/03/2021 09:49

I have used up a sachet of body lotion. I've moved a few things to places they are more likely to get used.
And I've chosen six things to focus on using up, one of which should be finished tonight. One is a perfume that's almost done, so that's gone in the downstairs loo, the one that's in there is almost done too, so quite soon two can go.

I like the idea of using bubble bath to wash up, I have tons of bubble bath but I hate baths, so generally have maybe one a year. But sadly I don't really wash up either, everything goes in the dishwasher!

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 27/03/2021 09:51

Sorry, I can’t find who asked me about which Inkey serum I ordered - I’m not sure which one it was but it was recommended on here. I’ll report back when it arrives.

Experiment627 · 27/03/2021 10:12

It was me @SlatternIsMyMiddleName 🙋🏻‍♀️

@VanGoghsDog what about as hand wash?

Has anyone tried The Inkey List hair products?

Off riding today and have put a full face on. Possibly a bit glam for the stables. But nice to feel nice.

Must make more of an effort.

Went to work with blue eyeshadow on the other day. Ds (age 3.5) chose the colour for me. By the end of the day I looked like a shattered Pat butcher. But.

VanGoghsDog · 27/03/2021 10:27

@Experiment627

I use soap, and I have at least twelve unused bars. I have three bottles of handwash as well. I do have it in the kitchen as sometimes I prefer it. But it takes me well over a year to use a bottle, so the three bottles I currently have will keep me going. But I'll refill them with bubble bath if they run out.

I gave away six soaps on the local FB page the other day, just to reduce the stash, and they were ones I wasn't that keen on. I got given nine bars just this last Christmas!

VanGoghsDog · 27/03/2021 10:27

Oh, I have an Inky List hair thickening serum. Doesn't seem to do anything.

Ponks · 27/03/2021 11:47

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName the Pixi is fine but I've not noticed much benefit from using it and never really fit it into my routine, it was just an afterthought now and then. Having said that, it's nicer than the Ren equivalent which is a lot more expensive. I'd be interested in trying one of the other Pixi tonics maybe. I have a couple of other glycolic toners to use up, from GWP etc, first.

@ememem84 good to have standards when riding 😁.

Ponks · 27/03/2021 11:49

Ooh @VanGoghsDog I'm envious, I love bubble bath, love baths rather than showers.

justilou1 · 28/03/2021 08:02

I used the Ordinary hair growth tonic (or whatever it was called.) Don’t waste your time or money.

Ponks · 28/03/2021 10:43

Finished Boots No7 Protect and Perfect spf50. Finally got through my spf stash and just started my last one ( another No7 one).

VanGoghsDog · 28/03/2021 13:56

I finished something! Aldi glycolic pads. I didn't realise there was only one left so it's not even in my five things I'm trying to use up.

I have at least three glycolic toners so I don't need to replace.

ememem84 · 28/03/2021 14:35

Blanx toothpaste gone.

VanGoghsDog · 28/03/2021 15:36

I have had a rummage through the drawer under the bathroom sink, which is dangerously large, and thrown out three very old TO things, one very crummy looking concealer, four sachets of something and a bottle of cleansing oil I simply don't like.

I've prioritised a Clinique vit C sample sachet to be used tonight or tomorrow so that will be gone.

And I've put all the face masks in one place. And moved two bottles of flippin' body wash into the airing cupboard (these are huge and will never get used) which is where all overspill stash goes.

clary · 28/03/2021 16:13

I finished my Elemis rose bath milk, it was really nice but a treat as part of a package purchase (bought for other items). Now using up a Molton Brown rhubarb shower gel from the LF calendar, actually really lovely

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 28/03/2021 16:31

Oh God... THIS is where I belong.

I posted on S&B today asking what to do with products bought which promised the earth and delivered little or nothing. Bin? Use up, knowing they’re not right for me?

I have stuff not even half used and KNOW deep down, they will never be used. Not by me, at least. Have to say, I don’t spend £££ but, have fallen into a lacklustre lockdown state, where online shopping is too easy and people posting rave reviews for stuff or companies promising the earth “in 2 weeks!” has lured me in. In the end, I’m a Max Factor foundation/Clinique blusher/Collection mascara kind o’ gal, at heart 😊
