Carrying on the great tradition of this thread - where those that are addicted to beauty products come together and support one another!

Good morning everyone, just an empty shower gel to report (lemon sherbet / refreshers scent - I love it). Thanks for the new thread @Experiment627 , hope you are ok after the tooth!

Experiment627 · 03/03/2021 07:43

Thanks @Ponks! Tooth extraction site still very sore but I actually got some good sleep last night which has made a big difference to how I feel.

Baby shampoo. Gone! And I’m down to the last one! Ds is a hair wash dodger so he gets a once a week hair wash. Dd is stickier and messier but has really fine hair. So it’s usually an every day thing for her. The new bottle will likely last months though.

justilou1 · 03/03/2021 22:06

Just finished a small bottle of Body Shop shower gel in lemon, which was an utter disappointment. It was very drying and the scent was very squash-like. (Too sweet?) I’m also boycotting the Bodyshop here in Aus, as their prices are so bloody steep for the quality of their products. They’re up there with the high-end ones, and just don’t come through. I’m getting very picky! This was a Christmas present from my kids who know I love citrus scents, and I’m still trying to use up the little tub of body butter (hands and feet) which smells even less like lemons and more like toxic chemicals. (Fly spray?) I’m almost at the stage where I have to throw it out. Even DH hates it. To me, both of these formulations perform like very cheap products - I don’t get the hype with BS. You can get green/animal-friendly/ethical products that perform better elsewhere.

earsup · 03/03/2021 22:24

Just using some horrible cheap bubble bath that was a xmas gift - we dont have a bath - as washing up liquid...I poured it into an Asda bottle and never told anyone and everyone says how good it is and dishes smell nice !!

Experiment627 · 04/03/2021 08:03

Brilliant @earsup !!! 🤣🤣🤣

@justilou1 so interesting what you say about The Body Shop. Some of my HGs are from there:
-Almond milk with oats mask
-Skin Defence SPF 50
-Vitamin E serum in oil

And I am currently using their CBD cleansing balm and CBD cream and really liking them.

OP posts:
Experiment627 · 04/03/2021 08:07

I also love the Pink Grapefruit range and the almond and honey range...

But I sound like a sales rep and whilst I would love a sponsorship deal with them or better I do appreciate that we all have different needs and likes - and that variety is the spice of life. 💜💜💜

Thanks @Experiment627 BS Skin defence doesn’t meet very strict Aussie sunscreen standards, so we can’t get that here, unfortunately. Obviously I’ve been using the wrong products!

Ponks · 04/03/2021 09:02

Boots Vitamin C brightening moisturiser finished (this isn't a No7 one, but a much cheaper range). Smells nice but more of a gel-cream and abut light and yet sticky. Used up on my neck (and by my DH , was happy for him to use it instead of my more expensive stuff!)

Experiment627 · 04/03/2021 09:59

🤔🤔🤔🤔if it does not meet the standards @justilou1 I wonder how good it really is...

May I say something really controversial? Am I the only one that thinks that Caroline Hirons skin does not look that great? I have somewhat lost confidence in her advice (and her manner has really started to get on my ( . . )s...).

Lost you all there - didn't post for a while and then the thread moved on to a new one!

Lots of empties, although slightly cheating as a lot are sample sizes so I'll just list the main ones...

Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser - I liked this at first, it is very foamy, but after a while it didn't feel like it was really doing its cleansing job. Sadly I have another one to go which I bought when I was still in the honeymoon phase!

Niod Non-Acid Precusor 15% - like the idea of it being non-acid, but despite being a 30ml size (i.e. lasted long enough to get a feel for it), I didn't really notice any obvious effect.

Neal's Yard Bee Lovely Hand Cream - loved this, had a subtle orange fragrance to it and absorbed fairly quickly. Would definitely purchase.

Aesop Geranium Body Scrub - this was very satisfyingly scrubby, but the packaging was slightly irritating as it was a bit like trying to get the last bit of toothpaste out of the tube - the tube just kept crumpling as I squeezed it. If they changed the packaging, I'd buy it again, but it was a pain to use in the shower!

My stash is now down to 145 items, and lots of those are sample sizes, so I feel I'm making progress!

Experiment627 · 04/03/2021 11:04

I am sorry @BookShark - I meant to go through and mention everyone missing but toothache was too bad - maybe tomorrow I will have the opportunity. Great that you found us.

BookShark · 04/03/2021 11:28

Don't be daft, it was easy enough - we're still fairly high up on the S&B board. My fault for not keeping up to date with everyone's posts!

justilou1 · 04/03/2021 11:41

@Experiment627 -
Aussie sunscreen standards are strict, but I suspect there is a bit of political issue with patents, etc... I suspect the standards committee might actually own part of the patent for one of the sunscreens that appears to be in everything, so I think we’re kinda stuck with glug. (I wear Japanese stuff. Am naughty.)
As for Carolyn Hirons, I don’t think she’s all that and a bag of chips. I find her advice repetitive, often hypercritical AND she always leads to the most expensive products that are always brands that she promotes. At the same time, despite all the free, expensive products, she’s also had a tonne of work done and STILL looks like a burnt sneaker. Not one to blow my own horn, but she is one year older than I am, and my skin is in MUCH better nick! (And I haven’t had any surgery.)

Experiment627 · 04/03/2021 11:58

@justilou1 a burnt sneaker 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've fallen of the wagon but back on! Got into the whole skincare and I've used up the following:

2x sheet masks
1x Paula's Choice BHA - repurchased
1 x Kiehls exfoliator - nice but pricey, need an alternative
1x impulse body spray
1 x bottle shiseido perfume

Got my eye on a job lot of skincare on eBay tho.

Keep slapping it on everyone!!

Caggie09 · 04/03/2021 21:02

Ive had a few bluerghh days with my skin. My spot marks just wont fade, and it makes my makeup like crap! I decieded after seeing the many Ads pop up to try Skin+Me, so hoping it clears it up. So my routine wont be as full on atm but i still have empties, soo...

Simple micellar cleansing water. Just buy what ever is on offer now, i had noticed since swapping to reusable cotton pads i need to saturate it more so means using more product.

Verso hydratiom serum 10ml x2. Didnt find it all that hydrating really, smelt abit soapy too. Both were GWP.

Fresh soy face cleanser mini. I used as my AM cleanse, its nice and did the job. But its basic for the price. Think you can get much cheaper for the same results. Im not sure if i like the smell either..

ememem84 · 04/03/2021 21:44

I have a huge spot. Right on my chin. Zoom calls exacerbate and anger it apparently.

I’ve currently got a whitch hazel and tea tree sheet mask on. Hopefully this will chill jt the fuck out.

This is my out empty today.
