Carrying on the great tradition of this thread - where those that are addicted to beauty products come together and support one another!

I've finished the Pure day cream which came in the M&S summer beauty bag. I loved the feel but the smell is a bit odd. Next up my old fav Simple protect moisturiser.

Also finished a 250ml Body shop satsuma body wash. I don't buy mlm products anyway but this had such an awful artificial scent I wouldn't buy again regardless. I've a dove cream wash up next.

Bought some bits from boots, an The ordinary serum thats supposed to help redness, and some no.7 night cream and cleanser.

AprilLady · 14/03/2021 14:13

A fair number of empties this week.

MZ Skin Depuff and Define eye serum I really rated. Bought as part of a beauty set, so didn’t pay RRP (£95) and have since repurchased on eBay. It’s good, but not RRP good.

More ESPA modern alchemy, this time the body lotion. Loved this, and have repurchased (currently half price from Skinstore).

Also ESPA optimal skin pro-cleanser. I was initially unimpressed by the texture of this, but actually really liked the feel of my skin after use.

Also rated the Femmue face mask and the Fresh lip balm.

Rest were okay, nothing special.

Soap and glory eye puffy pads
Johnsons lavender bedtime bath (dcs)
Keihls face scrub (dhs)

All gone. Phew.

Caggie09 · 14/03/2021 20:10

-Mitchum is HG. Will always buy.

-BS coconut hand cream. As bizzare as it sounds the fake smell of coconut in this reminds me of public loos?! No idea why?! It sinks in fast and i dont feel greasy. Just the smellEnvy

-Heritage Store Rosewater mist. Cheap and cheerful, i really like it. The mister stopped working though as i got closer to the bottom, annoying.

-MGC hydration serum. I really liked this, texture was like a cream. But, made me feel plump and hydrated. Sad to see it go! Worked well with other products and under makeup too! But its pretty pricey, so no RP!

Hi, I have been lurking on the new thread. Just to clarify, what are the rules? Try to use stuff up and then post when it’s finished?

I have bucket loads of stuff and never seem to get anything finished.

Experiment627 · 16/03/2021 09:36

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName there are NO rules!!!!!! Some of us post when we use up beauty products, some of us post about the stash we have amassed, some of us share new hauls... whatever works for you! The one thing we have in common is our addiction to beauty products :)

Experiment627 · 16/03/2021 09:38

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName sorry forgot to say - you may find it helpful to concentrate on one or two products that are near to finishing and use them at every opportunity. Or start with samples/travel sizes. But whatever works for you!

Here are my recent empties:

  • Ayumi Tumeric & Argan Oil bodywash: from the H&B advent - FULL SIZE!!! Was bloody gorgeous!!! Did not think I would like it but I found the scent intoxicating and uplifting!
  • TRUE certified organic rehydrating rosehip & rosemary: again from the H&B advent. Really liked this - scent not too intense and nice to apply.
-CeraVe reparative hand cream: this is HOLY GRAIL now!!! One of the best hand creams I have ever used: sinks in quickly, no nasty smell, great consistency, inexpensive, actually really good for my brittle nails and cracked hands. -Malin+Goetz travel grapefruit face cleanser and vitamin e moisturiser: these are the last two from the set I got from Space NK. Have been really disappointed with all of them. I actually quite liked the face cream (when I could get it out of the bottle) but it made my foundation go funny so better as a body cream. -Cicaplast barrier repairing balm: definitely HOLY GRAIL! -Eucerin acute lip balm: absolute HOLY GRAIL! Really moisturising for my lips, no yucky taste and inexpensive. I feel so lucky to now have identified THREE HG lip balms!

Ooh good to hear about the Cerave hand cream, I will have to try it as my hands and cuticles are so dry at the moment.

My empty is IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream day moisturiser, it's nice and lasts a long time, would repurchase but it is expensive compared with No 7 so not an immediate RP.

BookShark · 16/03/2021 17:47

I finished a whole perfume (Jimmy Choo)! I'd completely stopped wearing it since working from home, so I've had to reincorporate it into my daily regime - hopefully my cats are appreciative as they're the only "people" I see over the course of my working day. I've got a few samples to work through now, but once I've finished those, I might go back to only wearing it when I'm leaving the house, as it seems a bit of a waste otherwise.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 16/03/2021 22:15

I too am a huge fan of Cicaplast - it’s my go to for skin tlc.

I am currently making a concerted effort to use up some stuff that has been sitting around for ages. That includes samples and travel sizes. I dare not mention the Clarins anti stretch mark cream I still have (DS is 14!).

CherryMargo · 17/03/2021 00:03

Welcome, @SlatternIsMyMiddleName! 🤗 You may also consider creating an inventory for your items to track their expiry dates or to make notes like ‘RP (re-purchase)’ or ‘NA (never again)', etc. Some of us are also tracking our spending and participating in Project Pan. For me personally, it's the journey to self-awareness, and I'm trying my best to enjoy the ride! 😉

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 17/03/2021 08:56

Thank you for my welcome.

I really should use one of my 101 empty notebooks to keep an inventory. Although it might terrify me when I see how much I have spent.

Experiment627 · 17/03/2021 11:59

Ah another @SlatternIsMyMiddleName stationery hoarder - you are in good company Grin

Two more empties here:

  • The Inkey List Retinol serum: really enjoyed using this and have another one in my stash. I use every 2-3 days as part of my evening routine.
  • Garnier NutriBomb milky tissue mask almond milk & hyaluronic acid: really liked this - although I usually prefer non-sheet masks. I got 2 good uses out of it but I reckon 3 would be possible!

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 17/03/2021 23:01

Okay, my first empties:

Clinique sparkling body polish - lovely and would get it again, but had a quick look at the website and they don’t seem to do it anymore. I have no idea how long it had been lurking in my cupboard before I opened it.

Molton Brown vitamin body wash - it was grand and I would be happy if I was gifted it, but not sure I want to put my hard earned pennies into shower gel.

Benefit instant comeback facial serum - very nice, but it was my first foray into serums so I have nothing to compare it too. Also had a quick look at website and couldn’t see it. I may be too late to the game - again.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 18/03/2021 21:51

Molton Brown Coco de Mer - I’m going to give this the benefit of the doubt by saying my bottle must have gone off. The smell was awful, truly horrible. I put it on after a shower before I went to bed, but after 20 mins had to get back up and have another shower as the smell was so yuck. Bottle straight in the bin.

Neals Yard rose oil for face - I just had a wee sample but it felt lovely on. DD however reported that I smelled ‘old’.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 19/03/2021 16:11

So I have gone back to Simple daily moisturiser which I used to use ALL the time and it feels a bit meh now :/ I've also had a break out but I also added the ordinary vit B3 serum into my regime so it could be that. I've dropped out the serum for now to see how it goes. The Simple moisturiser just doesn't feel luxurious either anymore.

ememem84 · 19/03/2021 21:07

Clinique eye stuff. Sample. This lasted for literally ages.

Caggie09 · 20/03/2021 16:59

Throwing the blush palette away. Looks grimBlush Ive not bothered putting blush on since wearing masks. Will pull a fresh one out when people actually see my face..

Hated the COLAB dry shampoo. Finding a HG dry shampoo is a mission in itself.

Drunk Elephant Biome Sake spray. Not sure why this is so expensive.. It didnt do anything impressive, and stung my eyelids..

Loreal Nutri gloss conditioner. Didnt feel that great as a conditioner tbh. Very runny and too light for me. Want something nourshing and hydrating. Instead i got sparkly crap all over my hands every time i used this..

Very negative empties this time around!

I have never used dry shampoo, although I do have one unopened in the cupboard. Is it to give an extra day without washing your hair?

Surely the HG is batiste? I mean it is isn’t it? I’ve tried probably every dry shampoo that boots and SuperDrug sell and always end up back with batiste.

Yep. Or in my case an extra 2/3 days.

I tend to do:
Day 1 - hair wash blow dry wear hair down
Day 2 - either half up down or high pony
Day 3 - high pony
Day 4 - messy bun and dry shampoo
Day 5 - messier bun - dry shampoo
Day 6 - hair mostly is held up itself in messy bun and is mostly dry shampoo.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 20/03/2021 21:39

Love the sound of day 6 hair!

justilou1 · 20/03/2021 22:35

The trick with dry shampoo is to recognize that it doesn’t clean your hair at all. If you use it before your hair is dirty, it gives you extra volume, and because it sits on your scalp, it absorbs oil and grease allowing for an extra day or two before you need to wash again. If you put it on hair that is already greasy, it just goes clumpy and gross.
