Carrying on the great tradition of this thread - where those that are addicted to beauty products come together and support one another!

I've got an empty!

TO alpha arbutin. This is my HG daily use product, so I had a back up which I've started. But I also have the AA plus Ascorbic Acid, and I need to use both of them, so I'm going to try to remember to alternate them.

A hand cream in a tub that had dried up - gone! (Working Hands, it's good but I had stopped using it so it dried up)

And a face mask. Some calming bamboo freebie thing, gone!

HeySeamus · 18/05/2021 12:28

Can you remind me what HG stands for please? I worked it out (I think) but have now forgotten- is 45 too young for dementia Wink

VanGoghsDog · 18/05/2021 12:30

Holy Grail (I hope!)

PomRuns · 18/05/2021 12:31

Dermalogica - power bright serum - did think it did much. I still have dark patches, I’ve used it before and it seemed more effective.

Peony couture perfume - it’s ok, wouldn’t purchase. 2 more in stash from GWP.

Milton brown Indian cress conditioner - like, have used frequently over years. Not too heavy.

Nivea - good but prefer Garnier.

Has anyone used Strivectin products?
I was given this sane of retinol and vitamin c. It seemed very smoothing. Liked it. Tempted to purchase.

Thank you @VanGoghsDog
LivingDeadGirlUK · 18/05/2021 15:59

I've finished a 100 ml Lacoste touch of pink body lotion that I've been using as hand cream. But runny tbh but it was old.

Caggie09 · 18/05/2021 16:27

I was doing so well then placed a CB order. Wanted to try the Amika dry shampoo, so got that. Had to spend £40 for a the free jelly shampoo, so popped a hair mask in the basket too!

So out with the old!

OGX conditioner. I prefer their conditioner over their shampoo. I dont have highlights. So no idea how its in my stash. But, it didnt make my hair knotty or greasy and my hair felt soft after a wash.

Clarks Retinol night cream. Got in a GWP last year possibly? I didnt know what to expect, but i really enjoyed it. Thick enough for night, but clogging the skin. My skin looked lovely and fresh in the morning. The retinol was quite for down the list so not sure that had much impact but didnt seem have a bad reaction.

Susanne Kauffmen mask. Used before, a nice moisturising mask. My skin soaled it all up. A nice prep for skincare routine.

KS Hydrating treatment. Hmm, i liked it. It does hydrate. But £85? No. You can get much cheaper that does the same. The foam for me is abit of a novelty, and in the end i got bored. Wouldnt RP, but id use it again if it appeared in my life.

Some empties.

Estée Lauder perfectly clean foam cleanser - I’m not a huge fan of foam cleaners but this was good. I won’t be purchasing any time soon though, as I have loads of cleansers to get through.

Clarins instant Eye make up remover - I have said before, I am not yet convinced that I need a separate cleanser for my eyes.

Clarins beauty flash balm - seems very ‘old school now’. I have been using it as a make up primer recently for which it is very good. I doubt I would buy this again as skin care seems to have moved on so much, although I remember how popular it was when it first came out (yes, I am old).

Justilou1 · 20/05/2021 00:48

Empty - this goes with my previous angry with myself for falling for the hype review, I guess... I have used up my bottle of Shu Uemura Yuzu Cleansing Oil. According to friend who is a massive aficionado of Shu cleansing oil, I went through this bottle waaaaay too fast. I concur - this should have lasted nearly a year. My cheap Muji one does, and her smaller, differently-scented Shu bottle also lasted longer. I think it’s a formulation issue. Poop. (Also doesn’t smell refreshing and citrussy expected from yuzu descriptor. More disappointingly bug spray, citronella/linalool scent. Underwhelmed.)

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 20/05/2021 08:28

Ha! Love “ Bug spray” description of the scent.

Wonder if that should appear in their packaging - Eau de Bug spray, evokes memories of your holidays (scratching your legs red raw lying in your bed in a pool of sweat trying to find the cold spot on the sheets).

11 empties since I last posted - which was admittedly a fortnight ago, but never mind!

Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream - I love this, although when dropping DS off, one of the mums did ask who smelt of coconuts. Blush. But apparently it was in a good way, so I'll take it. Definite RP.

Origins Frothy Face Wash - foamed up nicely but my skin felt quite dry afterwards so not sure I'd use it again.

Origins Mega-Mushroom Relief and Resilience - genuinely no idea what this was for (my Origins stash is from a gift set I was given so not something I deliberately bought). It was meant to be a pre-serum skin soother, but it just felt like putting water on my face. Very odd.

Origins Night-A-Mins - this is the one that DH said smelt like Starbursts, which isn't necessarily a recommendation. None of my Origins products have really convinced me - fortunately I've just got one more to go.

And then lots of sample size products which aren't really worth reviewing, or I'll be here forever - other than to say that the Barbara Sturm Anti-Aging Serum was as good as the Hyaluronic one - if only they weren't so daft expensive to buy!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/05/2021 12:01

Finished a Bloom dry shampoo, its pretty naff tbh, trying a superdrug own brand one next.

Fispi · 20/05/2021 16:06

Grin bug spray sounds tempting @justilou1

More empties!
Argan oil - this used to be DHs beard oil but he has shaved it off and I'm slathering whatever moisturiser or oil I find on the bump so finished it off.

Erborian CC cream sample - beautiful, although in the same shade as my BB cream (Clair) it was a little fairer as its lighter coverage. Really nice blurring finish like the BB. I would switch between thus and the BB.

Erborian glow cream sample - lovely dewy finish but I dont want the extra step so not something I would buy full size

La Roche Posay Toleriene cleanser sample - gentle, removed my mascara but I prefer a balm for this step so wouldn't buy it.

Hello to all the amazing ladies of this thread, and welcome @laselvar! Flowers

I took a two-week break, and recharged my batteries a bit. Now I’m back and have caught up with the thread, and first and foremost I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your support, kindness and understanding ❤️ Thank you for sharing your stories and thought on the topic 🙏 I do wish you all success on this path, and I’m sure this thread will help us through!

@PomLikeTheBattle finishing that eye makeup remover was indeed masochistic. I do realise that through hate-panning I punish myself in hopes that I will never go back to makeup and skincare hoarding again. It’s not healthy behaviour, and I hope no one else here does it. On a positive note, I am getting better at repurposing the products so I still finish them but without too much suffering. I tried to repurpose that eye makeup remover as a face makeup remover but it wasn’t good at that.

Caggie09 · 20/05/2021 17:56

More empties from me!

REN Moroccan Rose Body scrub. Smells like Turkish delight, which some wont like. I loved the scent. I used it on dry skin then washed it off. Its a gritty scrub which is a must for me. Otherwise, whats the point? Leaves your skin soft, coats you in abit of an oil film. But i didnt mind. Still love Aesop more though.

Zelens Provitamin D3 mist. I dont think a mist has that much product power in it to actually do anything. It was okay, but i can live without it.

Sunday Riley Saturn treatment mask. Already purchased another tube when before this had finished. I thinknit maybe at HG status for. Wont lie, this stuff reeks to high heavens! Like a bin on a summer day🤮 But, past the smell, it really does banish spots. It can be a little drying, but lots of moisturiser after will help. One ill have in my stash for emergencies i think!

REN Jelly cleanser FS. Before i even opened this i noticed the side had split to product had oozed out. I emailed the CS at REN, and they did send another one. But i didnt want to waste it. Its came to the point were im fed up of squeezing the tube and it coming out of two different ends. Binned.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 20/05/2021 18:37

Lovely to hear from you @CherryMargo

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 20/05/2021 18:40

@Caggie09 did you like the Ren jelly cleanser?

Caggie09 · 20/05/2021 18:47

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName It's okay. Nothing special imo. Feels like it leaves a film on my face. The smell isnt my favourite either!

Justilou1 · 21/05/2021 04:54

Hi @CherryMargo... I hope you are back to your usual, glamorous form!
I have an unexciting empty... Dove Body Wash. Passionfruit moisturizing crème formula. It started so well, only was in a giant bottle (1.5L) and it had a stiff pump that dispensed so very little product. My DH and I loved the scent and the creamy formula, but battled the bottle (Sounds like this should be going on AIBU instead 🥴🥴🥴) to the point of fury. He kept asking me to throw it out and just buy a new one, but I am stubborn. (Bloody thing listed for sooooo long!)
Also an accidental empty (because my huge and stupid dog pierced the bottle - my fault for playing with it, though!) Colour Fanatic 21-Benefit Multi-Tasking Leave-In Spray (200ml). Love this stuff. It was nearly empty anyway, and this is a repeat purchase and will always be going I think. I use it instead of conditioner now my hair is shorter. It’s also heat protectant and it doesn’t weigh my fine hair down.

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 21/05/2021 08:13

3 for 2 and Buy One get one Half Price are my nemesis! 😂

Looking at my stash of Holland and Barrett essential oils alone, I can see this is my problem. I use them in a vapouriser thing so, I will use all of them but, whenever I shop for a thing, there’s an offer and I think “well, I’ll use that so, I’ll get two and I’m getting something for free so...”

I’ve a stash of Aveeno Cream with Oil in the Almond fragrance which to be honest, I’m not in any hurry to use because he almond smell has either gone off a bit or, I’ve gone off it .

So, I’m going to work very hard to not justifying the extra spend, just buy what I need and not add to the stash.

I’ve finished an Aveeno (as above). Have binned a too yellowy bronzer which was half used and frankly makes me look like I’ve a liver problem. It was Bobbi Brown, but why keep trying with something which is doing nothing for you? I’ve gone back to my Loreal one. Have finished a Max Factor blusher and a beautiful Elizabeth Arden blush which is now discontinued so, no temptation to replace.

Still a long way to go.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 21/05/2021 08:48

New bronzer shade - cirrhosis of the liver. Nice!

I’m adding that to my basket together with eau de bug spray.

Justilou1 · 21/05/2021 09:54

Cirrhosis bronzer for the win!!! 😆😆😆

clary · 21/05/2021 11:31

One empty here, Sukin rejuvenating day cream, I like this actually, nice smell, light texture. Came from H&B AC I think. Also not ££££

Got sooooo many moisturisers to use up tho!

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 21/05/2021 12:00

@Clary. Make me feel better... how many moisturisers have you got stashed?! 😂

I’ve had the Sukin. Really liked it. My son still uses the Sukin range for his problem skin after borrowing mine.
