Carrying on the great tradition of this thread - where those that are addicted to beauty products come together and support one another!

I missed the Erborian chat a couple of days ago, but just to add that I'm just about to finish up a sample of their Skin Protector, and I'd definitely rate it - even the small sample has lasted ages and my skin is looking much smoother after using it.

At least I hope it's that, because if not, it's the Dr. Barbara Sturm hyaluronic serum that's working for me, and that's so ridiculously expensive there's no way I can justify repurchasing it (came in an advent calendar)!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 15/04/2021 08:44

Hello ladies, checking in as I've got some ins and outs lol.

I did a boots order and have some No7 products to try out, I've also bought a Pure moisturiser and serum, which came with a free gift. So its actually a fair few ins Blush

For outs I've given away the Simple moisturiser that used to be my all time fav, I think its probably never done much for me, as my skin is the best now its ever been.

I've also gifted a colour protect spray as it makes my hair too oily, a couple of lipsticks in shades I won't wear, 3 nail polishes again because I won't wear, and 2 eyeshadow pallets I got for christmas (superdrugs own range, part of a gift set) as they are far too sparkly and I'll never use them.

I'm about to throw away a Olay pore refining foaming face wash, like everything else I have ever owned that comes in a can, its now not foaming properly even through it still feels quite full. Will be moving onto my new No7 brightening cleanser.

Justilou1 · 15/04/2021 10:05

I associate the l’Occitane Verbena scent with my late mother who was the heaviest smoker you could possibly imagine, so when I smell it on someone who doesn’t also reek of cigarettes - it’s an absolute revelation! (While it IS divine, I could never wear it myself though!) Isn’t it funny how strongly the scent/memory association works?

Caggie09 · 15/04/2021 10:50

I dont seem to get the emails anymore for the thread, which is annoying!

Used a few sachets up on my trip away. Woohoo.

Coola SPF drops mini. Didnt like this at all. The dropper is a pain to use. My eyes felt awful and cloudy for a few hours. My makeup seemed to slide off after so long tooSad

Miss Dior body milk. I seem to avoid using the body lotion you get in perfume sets, but i need to use them up! Was fine to use, just didnt excite me.

Dr Jart Ceramidin toner sachet. Got a few uses out of it. Felt like it moisturised my skin. I have lots of toner to get through though.

Jane Scrivner nourishing cleansing balm mini. I prefer this one to the scented one. Took my makeup and SPF off, didnt need to scrub my face off. Possibly would purchase this one again..

Fresh Sugar Polish sachet. Using a tub atm too. Rate it so far. And it tastes nice tooBlushGrin

Mane & Tail herbal shampoo & con sachets. Fine, im just glad to be rid of some travel bits tbh!

CommanderBurnham · 15/04/2021 10:54

Ooooo @BookShark I have some Erborian samples to try.

2 more empties!

200ml nip + fab body cream - I didn't use it consistently enough to notice anything but it did sit on my skin for ages so won't be repurchasing.

Foot peel socks. Got a pedicure booked next week so need to flake the feet.

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 15/04/2021 18:38

A couple of empties...

Avene PhysioLift Serum. Nice but not sure it did anything for my wrinkly bits.
Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF30 (now discontinued). I struggled with this. Didn’t want to chuck it because it was quite spendy for me. I got through it by mixing it with other products, as it was very drying on me. Anyway, it’s gone! 😊
Ponds Cold Cream. Definitely won’t repurchase as it was hell to get off 🙄
Elizabeth Arden Blusher which I loved but it broke up and sadly, was too messy. Binned.

QueenPaw · 15/04/2021 23:06

One finished (KS) and one to start (Tarte)

2 down with replacements already in use. Both HG for me. M&S Glow toner and Aveda repair balm

Caggie09 · 16/04/2021 16:23

Blemish mud mask. Used it once a week, it helped dry my spots out when i had one forming. Any sort of clay mask makes me feel like its gave me a deep clean. Prefer BS ones though. I have mountains of mask's to move through..

Jordan Samuel body oil. Im addicted to body butters/lotions. So its not a suprise i love an oil. This smelt like lemon and lime, and i loved it. Even on a dull day it was nice to pop this on after a bath. Just instantly relaxed me and i felt like a baby's bum. Will RP in the future!

Penhaligons halfeti shower gel & lotion. Beautiful scent abit boujee for me to RP. But was nice to use up.

ememem84 · 16/04/2021 20:09

Clarins primer. Sample size done.

I’m so pissed. Been out for Christmas inch with team.

PomLikeTheBattle · 16/04/2021 20:49

😂 hope you had a nice inch @ememem84

PomLikeTheBattle · 16/04/2021 20:59

@Fispi agree, such a nice Spring scent. I love Pomelo, it really does;t have any staying power. How quickly did you get through the bottle?

@justilou1 Also agree with you ! That are certain things I can't smell without feeling emotional.

@Babysharkdoodoodood I use that Aveda product as well. I"m going to trial a new product, I have been using the Aveda for so long.

Thats a lovely stash @Caggie09

Ponks · 16/04/2021 22:06

Lumene hand cream finished, was ok, won't RP as nothing amazing. Currently using the Cerave handcream recommended by @Experiment627 and really like it, it's doing a great job on the dry skin round my nails. (So thanks for the recommendation!)

@QueenPaw what did you think of the Kate Somerville? Caroline Huron's mentions it a lot but it is so £££. I'm intrigued.

Fispi · 16/04/2021 22:40

@PomLikeTheBattle they were just the tiny sample sizes so each one was a few days worth. It was nice to ha e the variety!

QueenPaw · 16/04/2021 23:36

@Ponks honestly? Meh. It's nice, hydrating but for £125 or whatever it is, I can get Botox GrinGrin
It didn't break me out, but I didn't noticed any difference between that and any other moisturiser I've ever used
The tarte one however so far is much richer and feels so hydrating instantly, I have dry skin (use prescription tret) but also acne prone

BookShark · 17/04/2021 00:26

@ememem84 hope you had a lovely Christmas lunch. Isn't it lovely to actually be able to see people again? Although if my meal on Tuesday night is anything to go by, I hope you were well wrapped up - it was ruddy freezing!

A couple of empties to report.

Babara Sturm hyaluronic serum as mentioned above - I didn't want to like this because of the price, but I fear it may have done some good. Fortunately I've got some other serum samples in my stash so can hopefully find something cheaper!

Origins 10 minute facial - reeked of apricot and made my skin quite red, despite the fact it was meant to be smoothing and moisturising. Not something I'll repurchase.

Joanna Vargas ritual bar - a bar soap out of an advent calendar, and not something I'd have bought otherwise. Daft expensive for what it is, and didn't really foam up - a shower gel on a shower puff is much more satisfying for feeling clean. That said, I like the idea of a bar soap for environmental reasons, so happy to take recommendations!

Venneffect anti-aging lip treatment - really liked this, but another one which is ridiculously pricey. It's where the GWPs are worth it to try something you wouldn't risk buying - this had a lovely texture, but I'm not too worried about wrinkly lips, I wouldn't buy it. But will remember it if my lips start aging!

Caggie09 · 17/04/2021 16:53

If anyone is shopping this weekend 50% off all beauty products in House of Fraser. Went in, came out with a goody bag, Prada Candy perfume and the Clarins toning body oil!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 17/04/2021 18:30

Finally finished a body cream from Rituals. Huge tub. But still have another 2 of them stashed in different scents.
Also new in Evil Max and Black Velvet Cafe from 4160 Tuesday sale.

Getting the chop on Monday. Fed up with long hair so getting a lob done. Grin

AprilLady · 18/04/2021 18:58

@BookShark, interesting about the Barbara Sturm HA. It didn’t seem to do much for me (or at least, no more than the Estée Lauder ANR I’ve been using for years.

@Caggie09, very tempted by the HoF deal, though my local branch was manically busy this weekend as a result of the offer; might go in over lunch during the week instead.

@Babysharkdoodoodood, hope the haircut goes well. Mine is the longest it’s been in years, and I’m still deciding what I want to do with it, so no appointment booked yet.

AprilLady · 18/04/2021 19:18

This weeks empties:

  • Enjoyed the L’Occitane cream, though wouldn’t pay RP for it I think.
  • Verso serum was hydrating, but not sure it really did anything. I have another from a beauty box, but wouldn’t choose to repurchase.
  • mask was a bit of a faff to get on, but nice to use.
  • discovery of the week is the Ouai body creme. Lovely scent, not too strong, absorbed beautifully and left my skin feeling nicely hydrated. It’s not cheap, but it’s not £££ either (especially if using one of the frequent LF 20% off codes) so I’ll definitely purchase full size when my current stash of body creams has reduced somewhat.

Ponks · 18/04/2021 20:57

@AprilLady is the Ouai body cream the Melrose Place scent? I have some of the shampoo and conditioner and love the smell.

Today's empty is a travel size It Cosmetics CC cream. Really like this and it lasted for ages.

ememem84 · 18/04/2021 21:34

Some more hand creams in from dsis and some Nivea stuff. She won’t use it so passed it on.

AprilLady · 18/04/2021 22:33

@Ponks, it seems to be a different scent: Shibuya, I think?

Experiment627 · 19/04/2021 09:08

@ponks I am so glad you are liking the CeraVe handcream!

I think I am beginning to understand why the emails suddenly stop - they send one and if you go in and post, you will then get another the next time someone posts, if you don't then it stops sending them until you do!

Okay so to my empties:

  • The Inkey List niacinaminde: I really liked this serum - it contains hyaluronic acid too. However have my blackheads disappeared? No :(
  • Fresh Skin lavender oil: I always have a lavender oil on the go - great for when you have a cold, love the smell of pure lavender
  • Sanex dermo non-stop dry anti-perspirant: this worked, not a big fan of the smell, also I think it went quite fast
  • The Body Shop CBD soothing oil-balm cleansing mask: the only reason I am not giving this HG status is the smell - but otherwise I loved this and it does a great job of cleansing without drying
  • Hada Labo gentle hydrating cleanser: really not loving this - found it drying and relegated to the shower for part of my morning cleansing routine as did nada with make-up
  • Hada Labo smoothing anti-fatigue eye cream: definitely the HL product I have liked the most but no amazeballs results
  • Fred & Flo splish splash bubble bath: this was fantastic for £1 - lovely bubbles, gorgeous fresh linen type scent and non-drying on my bubba's skin. BTW we bathe together so I feel completely justified in listing LOL
  • Boots No7 Beautiful Skin revitalising skin polish: I am not a fan of hand scrubs - I mean when you apply a foot scrub you are scrubbing your hands too right? Anyhoo not a fan of the scent either nor the mould growing in the cap Confused

VanGoghsDog · 19/04/2021 10:32

Few empties:

A travel toothpaste
A deodorant
A leave in overnight hair conditioning treatment by Pantene I must have had several years
Two of those blemish patch strips - good to be remembering to use them!
