Carrying on the great tradition of this thread - where those that are addicted to beauty products come together and support one another!

I’ve just had an email from Fenwick
Free beauty bag gift with £125 spend

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 01/04/2021 14:01

@Experiment627 worry thee not, my face is still intact. I had no ill effects but will (for once) be sensible and go slowly with the whole acid thing.

@Nanasueathome, I think the Fenwick GWP looks quite good. Having gone for the HN though, no more for me for a while!

Are luxury candles considered Beauty for the purposes of this thread? I feel the need for a little rant. I treated myself to a Diptyque candle. I knew I loved the scent from a previous GWP mini, so was really looking forward to it and, stupidly (on the basis that it was better value for money) bought a large 300g one. The scent is as good as expected, but the wick is completely off centre. There is no way that without intervention it will burn remotely evenly. And even with intervention, one side gets cold and resets.... it is really not what I expected from such a high end candle. Pic attached so you can see the off centre wick!

@AprilLady I had a shocking candle from
White company and was really disappointed. Am a candle fiend and have certain companies I now stick with as they're consistently good

AprilLady · 01/04/2021 22:23

@QueenPaw, which ones would you recommend?

BookShark · 01/04/2021 23:21

We quite like the Jo Loves candle that came in the pre-Christmas Space NK GWP - it's burning really nicely. Definitely not the John Lewis marble pillar candles we bought a year or so ago - they just melt straight down and are so dark they no longer emit any light because the wick is effectively hidden.

Interested to hear other suggestions though. Our lockdown habit that I'd like to keep going is a candle lit dinner table (mainly because DS loves lighting the candles) so we've actually got through a few, and will need to replace soon.

VanGoghsDog · 01/04/2021 23:29

@AprilLady

I've had ones that have done that, you only get half the use of them, does my head in, some of mine cost quite a lot.

One that I have just finished burnt really well and evenly is cocoboho, which I think I got in a shop in Brighton.

Experiment627 · 02/04/2021 03:50

@AprilLady I would certainly report a candle empty 🤓
So pants you have a dud - can you let the retailer know?
I recently contacted Space NK when a by Terry foundation stick broke & got a refund.

I feel outraged at the price of candles... am really not sure why so expensive & tend to stick to Aldi or Etsy.

@BookShark what a lovely tradition!!!

@AprilLady
The botanical candle company
Seven seventeen
Albion candle company
Boujee bougies (more £££)

I've bought and used all those and never had a dud. My fave is definitely the botanical candle company, their diffusers are also really strong

ememem84 · 02/04/2021 10:36

Fushi Shea butter used up. A mini one from a gwp. Didn’t like this as it’s grainy.

Fispi · 02/04/2021 16:05

Empties:

Soap & Glory heel genius
Loreal cleanser
Dr Haushka arnica oil

Caggie09 · 02/04/2021 21:02

Im currently burning Diptyque Bais, such a comforting scent. I quite fancy trying the Overose candles. Will probably be purchasing at some point!
Everyone enjoy their GWP goodies. Ive banned myself from buyibg them. I have too much now!

Anyway, empties!

-Clarins body milk. Nice and light. You can throw your clothes on straight away. Would be good for summer as you wont feel sticky and sweaty. Only paid €20 Euros in Duty Free. Not worth £40+ though.

-Caudalie Dark Spot moisturiser. I like a rich cream, this was light. Sometimes found it made me look greasy. Didnt hate it though. Finally through the 3 mini pots i accumulated!

-DE scalp scrub. Too expensive, would stick with a cheaper one. Feels like its a deep clean. My scalp does feel abit sensitive to the heat from the hair dryer after use. Not a big deal though!

-Ted Baker bubble bath. Was okay.

-Summer Fridays R+R Mask. Really liked using it. The rose smell was light, and tje consistency was like a thick gel with specs of rose petals in. Lightly exfoliated amd my skin looked glowy and moisturised after use!

-Syrene oil to foam cleanser. Didnt enjoy it tbh. Made my eyelids dry out, found it abit of a chore to use up. Smell was abit weird too. Also seems overpriced!

White company shower gel in Seychelles finished. Nice but nothing special.

ememem84 · 03/04/2021 10:52

L’Oréal sachet of anti ageing stuff used up.

clary · 03/04/2021 12:37

Today's empty, Elizabeth Arden hyaluronic acid ceramics capsules. This was a sample of seven as part of a GWP before Christmas. Oh my god I love these! Makes my skin feel so soft and smooth. I used one a day but two a day would be ace. I've not checked how much they are cos I bet it's £££££ 😍

clary · 03/04/2021 12:39

haha ceramide not ceramics! but you all knew what I meant :)

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 03/04/2021 14:51

Some empties...

Loved the Facetheory Cleanser but... wouldn’t repurchase as in a pot and messy to use.

No7 Foundation. Have really liked but not enough to buy a 4th time.

Feather & Down pillow spray. Very good. Going to try Tisserand next.

One of my Feelunique parcels arrived. The other is yet to arrive.

Just been to boots and bought Epsom salts.

VanGoghsDog · 03/04/2021 17:24

I love pillow sprays. I'm about to finish a L'Occitane one and my next one is Oliver Bonas.

If you do not like free gifts then don't order from Jolse......you get tons! I think I got more free gifts, including a full size handcream and a scrub cloth, than I the stuff I bought!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 03/04/2021 19:34

Just finished my favourite discontinued cleanser. Think I still have 2 more in my stash. Clarins melting gel.

Justilou1 · 04/04/2021 03:55

@Babysharkdoodoodood - when you do finally run out of the Clarins, I highly rate the Curel Makeup Remover which is now stocked in boots. It’s a bit thicker and not scented like Clarins, but does the same thing. (Oil balm to gel for massage, emulsifies beautifully with warm water and rinses cleanly away.) Rated by Nadine Baggott if you want further info. Also cheap. I use this when I travel. (Or once upon a time, when I DID travel... 😩)

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 04/04/2021 08:05

@VanGoghsDog... oooh, the L’Occitane Pillow Mist gets great reviews! Do tell when it arrives.

I hate when they do this. I never used that one but do rate clarins cleansers.

I've had it ages, it's just about to run out.

I really like it. I can't remember what my previous one was, maybe ThisWorks sleep one.
