I bought my usual Astral cream today which I've used for 25 years.. Just dawned on me if anyone else uses retro beauty products still 😊

@CrazyFoxLady

Ponds cold cream. Apparently it's back in fashion now too - I love it!
I would really like a cold cream that actually feels cold

I don't find that with Ponds. Mum used to have Boots Traditional Cold Cream and I loved that, any dupes?

Coffeepot72 · 25/02/2021 12:47

I have recently gone back to using Touche Eclat - I've now realised that it's a brightener not a concealer, and I use it to brighten my whole under eye area, it's fab!

StepOutOfLine · 25/02/2021 13:49

Yes, I think that was the initial marketing issue with TE. The message was somehow put out it was a concealer so everyone walked around with their dark circles highlighted instead of hidden!

Crayfishforyou · 25/02/2021 16:22

I miss The Body Shop Fuzzy Peach, and White Musk.
I wear 4711
I also use block mascara

FreshFaceTime · 25/02/2021 16:36

@Coffeepot72 I went back to it too but I couldn't tell the difference between that and the aldi dupe (I mean the touche eclat dupe, not the nars one I mentioned before) Where do you put it then? I thought it was meant for under eyes?

GuyFawkesDay · 25/02/2021 16:42

Boots still do cold cream in a pot!

I love aveeno. Used it for 20 odd years. Only think that doesn't wind up my skin when it's reactive

Vitapointe is great.

I have a Nivea problem. I love the smell. I buy the deodorant, in shower moisturiser and have the perfume too.....

Feedingthebirds1 · 25/02/2021 16:53

I use Nivea rather than Astral. I find the smell of Astral to be too much compared to Nivea.

Nivea's great as a lip balm, really soaks in and moisturises.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 25/02/2021 17:19

@Melange99 Good luck. Basically use it like a serum, smooth it over the hair. But cheaper than most serums and twice as good.

FreshFaceTime · 25/02/2021 17:44

@GuyFawkesDay got the in-shower moisturiser coming in the next food shopping delivery! Had absolutely no idea that Nivea did perfume!

SweatyBetty20 · 25/02/2021 18:01

Until recently it was VO5 Hot Oil - amazing stuff especially when I’d just had my highlights done as it just replenished the moisture in my hair so well. Unfortunately I’ve not seen it for ages and think it’s been discontinued 😔

Yep - my mum got me these for Christmas, I’d forgotten these were retro!

SweatyBetty20 · 25/02/2021 21:28

Oh thank you!!!!!

Greencabin · 25/02/2021 21:56

This thread is great - it's really taking me back!

I used to love a Rimmel lipstick called Paradise, it was the perfect creamy light brown, I'd wear it with a brown rimmel lip liner, think it was called Cappuccino (in the late 90s early noughties) I wonder if they still do the lipstick? Going to google it!

I absolutely love the smell of the Nivea cream in the blue tub, my mum still uses it! Her skin is fantastic so it must work!

I have also been using the Satsuma shower gel from Body shop since I was about 12! ( I'm in my early 30s now!) I used to get it every year for Christmas & my Birthday, I loved it so much and still do, the smell is just so gorgeous, I hope they never discontinue it.

JaneJeffer · 26/02/2021 00:37

Cutex nail polish remover is another thing I've used forever.

TheRedBalloon · 26/02/2021 05:52

Someone's beat me to it mentioning Gap Dream perfume, I loved that.
Witch Hazel lotion for toning
Boots traditional cold cream
Pears soap
Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish
Vosene shampoo
Dune perfume loved it ever since it came out
Wish Nina Ricci would bring back Deci Dela
Also kiwi fruit lipbalm from the body shop

maddiemookins16mum · 26/02/2021 06:04

Anne French cleansing milk. Use it twice a day.

Tomasinabombadil · 27/02/2021 20:19

@Bubbinsmakesthree

I’ve tried all kinds of fancy hair products but I’ve never found anything to rival vitapointe conditioner
My grandmother & great aunt used that too and both had beautiful very long hair which they would wear up in a bun during the day and loose at bed time.
ThanksForAllTheFish · 28/02/2021 04:57

Not exactly beauty products but I bought a bottle of TCP last week. I could smell in in the first aid/ medicine section of Sainsbury’s (I think someone had smashed a bottle because the smell was strong). I had to buy it because the smell as so nostalgic. My mum used it for everything.

FreshFaceTime · 28/02/2021 07:52

@ThanksForAllTheFish I had a similar moment with germolene! I deliberately bought it over savlon so that when my kids fall over their "magic cream" smells the same as mine did...

I did the same recently, purchased Gemolene instead of Savlon to keep in my bathroom cabinet.. Love the scent but I was disappointed with the texture, it hasn’t got the staying/sticking power of the original thick gloopy stuff that was in a small flat tin.☹️

I didn’t know that TCP was still available, I will add it to my next shopping list.🙂
Lupinhere37 · 28/02/2021 14:09

Miss Dior. The scent just makes me happy; conjures up memories of my early twenties when it was all fun and no endless manning of the household lockdown cafe!

lockdownalli · 28/02/2021 17:58

I just ordered myself some Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass Perfume Grin

lindyloo57 · 28/02/2021 18:54

Stop using the apricot face scrub, I thought it was band, as the beads end up in the ocean killing the fish and other wild life.
