I bought my usual Astral cream today which I've used for 25 years.. Just dawned on me if anyone else uses retro beauty products still 😊

Ooh I need Fidji perfume ASAP

BearFoxBear · 24/02/2021 22:05

I can't be without Wright's coal tar soap - everything else sends my skin mad and I just love the smell 😊

Euthymol toothpaste and sudacrem for every cut, rash etc and I use it as an overnight mask once a week.

I now realise that I must smell quite weird with that combo Grin

Tigerstripe20 · 24/02/2021 22:17

Love Wrights coal tar soap, still use it everyday.
Euthymol is fab, I also use the toothpowder to brighten up my teeth
Nivea Blue not keen on the smell of Astral
Calvin Klein Eternity
Deep heat for muscle pain-

FreshFaceTime · 24/02/2021 22:18

@BearFoxBear Sudocrem as an overnight mask?? Mind. Blown.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 24/02/2021 22:23

Vitapointe is the business

I've used colloidal oatmeal products for years. Aveeno is my go-to atm.

When I was a kid my Gran swore by Fullers Earth cream. Would love to find some of that again.

Melange99 · 24/02/2021 22:46

@BatleyTownswomensGuild Vitapoint, I think I must be using it wrong. How do you use it?

noblegreenk · 24/02/2021 23:13

Clarins beauty flash balm - never found a better primer.

Pantene smooth and sleek 2 in 1 - I've tried many fancy separate shampoo and conditioners but always come back to this.

Nuxe dry oil spray

Bodyshop Japanese musk perfume oil - it's discontinued but I've stockpiled a stash I've bought on Ebay.

Impulse bodysprays - good to freshen up on hot summer days at work.

St Ives apricot scrub - i use it to get rid of "chicken skin" on my upper arms and thighs.

postcardfromme · 24/02/2021 23:18

What a fab thread! For me it's Nivea all the way! Especially the thick greasy stuff during winter! Amazing stuff

Pebbledashery · 24/02/2021 23:25

You can't beat Astral cream imo

After buying a big tin of the blue Nivea, I've realised it's like a nicer smelling Sudocrem - similar consistency. What is actually in it?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/02/2021 00:49

Nivea ingredients
www.beautypedia.com/products/nivea-creme/

It's really mineral oil, petrolatum, glycerine & paraffin.
Basically the glycerin is adding the moisture & the mineral oil etc is sealing it in by being an occlusive (barrier)

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/02/2021 01:00

I've used Fidji for more than 40 years. Not as lovely as it used to be but still pretty good.
Also Fenjal - the whole house smells lovely after a Fenjal bath
Mitchum antiperspirant
Bar soap
Ponds cold cream
Blue Nivea

Yes fine for a nostalgic sniff but really no great shakes ingredient wise.
BoreOfWhabylon · 25/02/2021 01:04

It works though.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/02/2021 03:39

I love Fidji it's one of the perfumes my DM wears.
I last had a bottle in early 2000.
I'm encouraged to get some now as I love those green stem/just cut flowers fragrances.
I'm currently saving up for a bottle of Chanel Bel Respiro.
That was launched in 1920.

JorisBonson · 25/02/2021 03:54

Setting lotion! It's so brilliant for curls.

Longdistance · 25/02/2021 04:13

Nivea eye makeup remover (been using it since I was about 18, I’m 45 now). Also, Lancôme definicils mascara, Body shop tea tree oil stick for spots. Johnson and Johnson face cleanser I’ve been using since my teenage years. I wear Emporio Armani Elle/She perfume in the gold bottle and have done since it first came out twenty odd years ago.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 25/02/2021 06:50

@Melange99 tiny blob, the size of a pea, rubbed between your fingers and then smoothed over dry ends. Magic stuff!

chocolateoranges33 · 25/02/2021 07:21

Aapri facial scrub. Absolutely love it and so do my teenagers. Best scrub I've ever used and smells lovely

Melange99 · 25/02/2021 08:00

Thanks @BatleyTownswomensGuild I think my ends are now beyond help but I will give it a go. Haven't had a haircut since beginning of Oct, was going just when they closed them again!

AprilThe8th · 25/02/2021 08:07

Johnsons baby lotion.Used it for donkeys years to take off my eye make up.It nevers makes my eyes sting and takes anything off!

Coffeepot72 · 25/02/2021 10:19

I use baby lotion as a cleanser and body moisturiser, I've never found anything better!

PretendSpeedGun · 25/02/2021 11:17

YSL Touché Eclat - been using for 20 years, just makes such an immediate difference and brightens up my face.

GinIsNotOriginal · 25/02/2021 11:44

I used to love touché eclat (I remember 12 years ago in my first year of uni, I was considered to have the elite makeup bag with my gold YSL touché eclat whilst friends used a thick Rommel stick concealer) but now I think it seems poor quality and coverage. Compared to the likes of tarte shape tape and even collection lasting perfection concealer! Maybe I have a completely wrong idea of it and it was never intended for under eyes

FreshFaceTime · 25/02/2021 11:51

I definitely don't think it lives up to the hype –and I used it years ago too. Maybe it's because cheaper brands have improved over the years so the difference in price doesn't seem worth it now? I saw a thread on here recently where people had said the Aldi Nars dupe concealer was better than touché eclat. If you can get a better product for a couple of quid why would you pay more? (Still trying to track down one of those flippin aldi concealers!)
