I bought my usual Astral cream today which I've used for 25 years.. Just dawned on me if anyone else uses retro beauty products still 😊

Ooh reading these has made me think I need Yardley Lily of the Valley soap / showergel. Llyods Pharmacy stock the soap .

Many many years ago M&S had a range in their own brands "Forest Fern" it was gorgeous , like lime .
Then they did an Aloe Vera to replace it but it wasn't the same

TeaAddict235 · 28/02/2021 19:48

@HerbsnSpices

I've never bought Fenjal. I've always thought it was for cleaning your fanjo Blush
Me too. Me too!!
Chicchicchicchiclana · 28/02/2021 19:52

Boots cucumber face toner. I use it on my legs after waxing.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 28/02/2021 19:54

Also, if anyone goes on holiday to Spain - you can still buy Revlon Flex shampoo there!

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 28/02/2021 19:58

Yet another vote for Rimmel Hide the Blemish, which I have been using for well over 30 years. It's too thick to use as an under-eye concealer, but there is nothing better on spots/redness. Blends beautifully too.

Experiment627 · 28/02/2021 21:33

I am loving this thread!!! Think I am gonna do a retro haul!!!

Crazyunicornlady · 01/03/2021 16:48

Yardley English Lavender, Ponds cream, Pears soap. I think I have a tube of Heather Shimmer too! I just love a classic.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 01/03/2021 18:43

I've got to say that I loathe Nivea, though - horrible consistency, like smearing cottage cheese on your face.

I now expect to be driven off S&B by an angry mob, pelting me with blue tins Grin

sugarlost · 01/03/2021 20:01

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow I'll help dig you out from under the blue Nivea tins... I'll probably get pelted tooGrin. I'm not that keen on the consistency either or Astral.. the thing is I wanted to like them as they're are popular and get good feedback but just can't get on with either...

CommanderBurnham · 01/03/2021 20:29

I stayed with my mum last week and had a dettol bath. Took me straight back.

Howshouldibehave · 01/03/2021 22:49

What is ponds cold cream actually for? Is it a thick night cream or for removing make up?

Is it cold??

saraclara · 01/03/2021 23:10

My mum bought me some M&S magnolia shower cream to take to hospital when I was having my first baby. That first shower the day after my caesarian was just bliss. 34 years on I still buy it! One day they'll stop making it and I'll be devastated.

GellerYeller · 01/03/2021 23:28

I'm on my last bottle of Bonne Bell ten o six, used it for years since getting a sample sellotaped to a magazine as a teenager. It came back under a new name in Boots and I stockpiled in 3 for 2s but it was discontinued really quickly. £9 a bottle though!
And yes to the poster who mentioned Cutex nail Polish remover. Why they discontinued the milky coloured one that smelt like play doh I'll never fathom, it was the best ever!

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 02/03/2021 00:15

4711 and boots lemon cologne water
Elnett hairspray
Sudocrem for blemishes
Oddly although a classic in France it’s considered a modern, trendy brand here in the UK but I’ve used bioderma since I was old enough to cleanse my skin.

FictionalCharacter · 02/03/2021 01:46

@lindyloo57

Stop using the apricot face scrub, I thought it was band, as the beads end up in the ocean killing the fish and other wild life.
It’s plastic beads in scrubs that are dangerous to fish because they don’t break down in the environment. The ones made from ground apricot stones do break down.
Experiment627 · 02/03/2021 06:01

Just want to take a moment to honour the products that have been discontinued 😭😭😭😭😭

  • Camelia range from Boots (1980s)
  • Camelia range from Superdrug (1990s)
Sometimes M&S still has some Camelia stuff but it never smelled as good as the Boots one
  • Arpege by Lanvin - was messed with in the 2000s... you bastardos...WHY?????
  • Sotto Voce by Laura Biagiotti
  • Co Bigelow chapped hand remedy
  • Vidal Sassoon Almond and Cherry shampoo and conditioner
-Estavalia by Puig

It was an honour and a privilege to serve with you. I salute you.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Dettol? In the bath?

Gerla · 02/03/2021 11:13

Is it cold??*

It's room temperature. Confused I use it for taking off make up. I also bought some that said it was cold cream but is more just like a normal moisturizer.

Yup. Once a week dettol bath.
motleymop · 02/03/2021 12:36

Atrixo hand cream

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 02/03/2021 18:04

Dettol baths, always had one when us kids were poorly when we were kids.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 02/03/2021 19:58

I have purchased a Max Factor Creme Puff off the back of this thread!

sugarlost · 02/03/2021 20:07

I had Dettol in the bath too when younger...put it in the washing machine drum to was clothes now.
I also use washing machine liquid in normal compartment.

I haven't tried Atrixo for ages...not sure if I liked the texture...

wombat21 · 02/03/2021 20:58

I miss Clover Pink lipstick from The Body Shop. They re-released it a few years ago, but I wasn't able to get one. I'd buy so many of those, and Dewberry body spray if they bought that back.

My granny uses Astral - she's nearly 100 and her skin is still good. Plump and pretty firm, she has wrinkles but not like that papery skin like old ladies have. I do have Nivea but don't use it often - only after strong acid masks!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/03/2021 21:09

Ohh yes , it was No6 in their shade chart . I bought a tiny make-up tin set from The Body Shop and used it to do my wedding make-up .
I used this shade and when I look at my photos ( 26 years ago!) , I think "Ohh you looked good ) Grin.

Perfect MMBB shade . Loved it .
