I bought my usual Astral cream today which I've used for 25 years.. Just dawned on me if anyone else uses retro beauty products still 😊

Max Factor panstick gets raves reviews on Make up alley, I remember I'd use my mums before nights out, I'd get really flush getting ready so I'd dab it on my cheeks to calm it all down. I can clearly remember it's distinctive smell.

NeedWineNow · 23/02/2021 09:11

Ellnett hairspray- never found anything better

Clarins Eau Dynamisante spray. I've used it for years. I always remember ex-BF's flatmate saying that he turned round on the tube one day and thought I was behind him because he smelt it.

Clinique City Block spf40 - not quite retro but love it to protect my skin and have used it ever since it came out.

MyfanwyMontez · 23/02/2021 10:12

I use Astral but at night- too rich for day. Can you still get Insette hairspray? Used to use it all the time in my punky/ Gothy days in the late 80’s . Reminds me of my uni days , clouds of the stuff choking me and my friend ( she used loads more than me to get her desired spiky look).

Grimble69 · 23/02/2021 10:48

@Veterinari
Thank you.

FreshFaceTime · 23/02/2021 14:04

Do the people using Astral use it when others would use blue Nivea? Are they kinda the same?

Sometimesonly · 23/02/2021 14:08

Ponds cold cream and euthymol toothpaste.

sugarlost · 23/02/2021 14:14

@StepOutOfLine it's great you got your Avon vintage haul!

I hope you're enjoying your goodiesGrin

These brands should bring back some of these classic requests in the retro packaging...it's the little things in life that can put a smile on your face.

BusterGonad · 23/02/2021 15:59

FreshFace I'd say Astral is a little less thick than Nivea Creme (blue) so if I had both Astral would be my day cream.

BrookePalomoV · 23/02/2021 16:01

Anne French cleansing Milk. Take me back to me teenage years.

Whatflavourjellybabyisnice · 23/02/2021 16:25

@Youngatheart00

I still have a bit of a soft spot for a juicy tube!

And st Ives apricot scrub

Both very early 2000s

I use both of those. They took juicy tubes put of production for a while and have just re-introduced them

Is Max Factor Creme Puff like a pressed powder or is it a powder foundation?

FreshFaceTime · 23/02/2021 19:12

@59BusterGonad thanks!

@04Coffeepot72 it's a pressed powder but I think there is a loose powder version too. It won't the modern mineral foundation kind though - more old skool setting powder type of thing I imagine!

Feedingthebirds1 · 23/02/2021 22:32

Because of another thread I have bought Fidji perfume.

They....still....sell....Fidji??????????????????????

Pass me the credit card.

Feedingthebirds1 · 23/02/2021 22:33

^^
PS Does it still smell the same or is it another one that they've mucked about with?

Melange99 · 24/02/2021 09:55

Re Fidji, I bought the EDP, which is spot on. I was given a steer tgat the EDT was less like the original.

Feedingthebirds1 · 24/02/2021 12:33

@Melange99

Thank you. EDP it is.

StepOutOfLine · 24/02/2021 12:54

They've mucked about with everything sadly, but some less than others- this fortunately being one of them!

I agree about the consistency of Astral, slightly less gloopy than blue Nivea. Love it so much. I'm not in the UK and bring back the ginormous tubs whenever I visit.

@sugarlost, it's amazing. I love just looking at them! But then the smell takes you right back. Moonwind, Tasha, Timeless. Smile

Feedingthebirds1 · 24/02/2021 17:02

Ordered!

I still use Anne French (anyone remember Lemon Delph?) as the first step of a double cleanse, but I'd love to see Cornsilk back. I haven't found anything that comes close to being a dupe.

PrancingQueen · 24/02/2021 20:21

New West perfume.
I managed to track down a bottle and it lives in a drawer so I don’t use it much. The smell brings me right back to the ‘90s and all the oceanic scents.

PrancingQueen · 24/02/2021 20:23

Also Perscriptives Calyx - Clinique sell it now.

Jeanswithanicetop · 24/02/2021 21:23

I would use Gap Dream in a flash if they still sold it. I miss it so much

Notsoaccidentproneanymore · 24/02/2021 21:38

I still love 4711 cologne. So citrus and clean smelling. Really refreshing.

Also Mitchum anti perspirant.

FreshFaceTime · 24/02/2021 21:48

@BooUrns I have a nostalgic sniff of CK One whenever I'm in a perfume dept (it's been a while but still...)

Vicliz24 · 24/02/2021 22:01

I still swear by Astral . Still have a badedas bath at least once a week . Still buy 4711 every summer and love Radox and Elnette
