I just wondered if anyone would be interested in discussing the beauty gifts with purchase/offers which come about on Cult Beauty, Space NK and the like every few months. I loved the advent calendar threads and thought this might be similar. If there's already a threat on this apologies & I'd appreciate the link! As you can tell I'm a little addicted and find them hard to resist and would love to compare with like minded pp. We could even do swaps if pp want.
I just cracked and bought the recent Cult Beauty 'Self Care' goodie bag - couldn't resist the name as I'm in desperate need of some self care after a rough few months (isn't everyone?!). I haven't opened it yet as haven't had the time with a 6 month old - but can't wait to have a peak. I also forgot what I bought for the £170 required purchase. But think I snuck in a few bit of makeup which isn't like me as I stick to my favourite makeup and usually just buy skincare and body stuff. Anyone else purchase it? What did you think? Be great to get notifications when other sites/retailers have good offers to!

I don’t think the Liberty LPD kit is for me either - and also found her very irritating on the video. The make-up items aren’t for me. Even the aromatherapy associates product is disappointing - much rather have a bath oil or even shower gel than a sleep spray!

I’m going to try to save up my current vouchers plus the £20 per month to buy a Frederic Malle perfume I really, really want, but certainly don’t need (if at all possible, when there’s a GWP on offer as well). Most annoyingly, the FM perfume I want isn’t in stock in CB or HN, so no excuse to go for the current GWPs.

(I may also have caved Blush and bought the Niche advent with the Niche GWP. Ordered yesterday early morning and it had arrived (from Hamburg) by lunch time today. The advent is a bit different, a box filled with numbered fabric drawstring bags each containing an item. My excuse is it’s a birthday present to myself, and actually the individual bags do feel like unwrapping presents. I quite like it!)

Re. the Liberty kit: I think the Surratt stuff looks interesting although I agree the way it was initially applied was off putting! I already have enough red lipsticks and I don’t find mascara that exciting. I’d use the bath soak but I’m not too bothered about it either way, same with the Aurelia. I’d like to try the Aromatherapy Associates mist & the Neom candle, but would choose a different scent of the candle if I could choose.

So, overall not really doing it for me! I’d rather wait till I’ve got the full £60 credit to spend anyway and I’m planning to get the M&S advent calendar so I’d feel horribly guilty if I bought both close together (I’ve also had the Glamour box and the Asos box recently Blush)

I might cancel the Liberty Beauty Drop after 3 months but does anyone know if you can keep your unspent credit after you’ve cancelled or do you have to spend it first??

JunieSpoony · 28/10/2021 01:31

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought the lipstick was a horrible colour!

Housewife2010 · 28/10/2021 05:15

I've just bought the M&S AC. This year the mascara and liquid eyeliner are brown. The Stila eyeliner pencil is dark grey.

AprilLady · 28/10/2021 08:40

@Housewife2010, me too. The actual sizes and details are better than I was expecting, I imagine it’s going to fly off the shelves in store over the next few days.

LizzieMacQueen · 28/10/2021 10:50

I think I may have a buying problem ..... John Lewis have a gwp with min beauty spend of £100 so that's another purchase for me.

I think you have to be a rewards member to receive the email.

LoveLabradors · 28/10/2021 11:06

@LizzieMacQueen
I’ve just had that email too and needed some new it cosmetics stuff which was also 15% off so I’ve ordered the icons box. That absolutely has to be it though. I need nothing more! Beauty spending has to end!

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 28/10/2021 11:52

Arf, I was trying to be polite saying “it’s a nice selection” about the Lisa PD bag, but as everyone else is being blunt … yeah I agree it’s not the best, and her weepy sales pitch manner in the video put me off. I’m unconvinced that lipstick shade suits everyone, the little Hourglass mascara has been in lots of GWPs, and I would never get round to using the Surrat product. I have the Aurelia oil already and like it but really don’t need a backup. Also not keen on the shape of the actual bag.

Phew

LoveLabradors · 28/10/2021 12:21

@LemonJuiceFromConcentrate - ha yes! It was very over the top as though a few beauty bits in a bag was groundbreaking stuff Grin

Giftwithpurchase · 28/10/2021 12:35

Liberty are doing a £10 voucher with every £50 spent - so you get £40
If you buy the adventSmile

Managed to resist the JL offer, but not the Liberty extra points. I had a day out in London today, and was close to Liberty so actually went into the store for the first time in many, many years. And left with the lovely FM perfume I wanted, tempted by the extra points. It was so lovely to actually buy something from a real person in store - who threw in a few FM perfume samples too, unasked.

I think good brick and mortar stores will continue to survive - it is such a different experience to actually buy stuff in store.

AprilLady · 28/10/2021 22:52

There were a few Liberty advent calendars on display too; in contrast, there was no sign of the advent calendar in the beauty section at F&M (which I find a little intimidating, if I’m honest).

TheChosenTwo · 28/10/2021 22:54

I agree with the comments on the LPD Liberty bag and reveal video, was like she was orgasming over the shapeless cloth bag and its contents. I just wanted to see what was bloody inside and kept forwarding bits of the video but jesus the over dramatic gushing and dragging it out - ffs it’s not groundbreaking and as far as I could see there weren’t exclusive or brand new products in there, blimey what an over the top reveal Hmm

Housewife2010 · 29/10/2021 00:08

The eyeshadow that she applied on her cheeks in the video looked dreadful.

Bavarois · 29/10/2021 10:01

Space NK GWP available now. Lower value than usual but also low spend (£60). I don't love everything in it but I've gone for it as I was needing to replace some make-up anyway. Had to forgo my £10 NHS discount to use the GWP code but I decided the sleep mask was worth that.

LizzieMacQueen · 29/10/2021 10:07

Ooh @Bavarois I've not seen that one. Did you get an email?

TheChosenTwo · 29/10/2021 10:20

Just seen that one @Bavarois - an easy Miss for me, tiny sizes of things that are usually in every GWP going! And I wouldn’t wear the eye mask. Glad to see it’s a lower spend to qualify though.

Bavarois · 29/10/2021 10:26

@LizzieMacQueen I got an email from Really Ree

It's definitely not the best I've seen @TheChosenTwo, I wouldn't have placed an order specially. The sizes are very small. But it's not bad as a freebie.

Housewife2010 · 29/10/2021 10:31

I reckon that Space NK is going after the disgruntled Cult Beauty customers - particularly the international ones who are no longer getting the UK tax taken off their orders. Space NK dropped their free postage from £40 to £20 the same weekend that Cult Beauty changed their website and raised their minimum spend. It would be great if Space NK continue to do lots of great offers and promotions which we could all then enjoy.

LoveLabradors · 29/10/2021 10:51

I needed two bits of make up from
Space Nk so went for the gift - am glad it’s a lower spend this time! Will use everything too and I love a silk eye mask - use one every night has have dry eyes post eye surgery Smile. But that really is it now on beauty spends! If I’m really honest I could cease to spend in 2022 and I would have enough to last me all year - in fact I probably should… but I do have the Liberty beauty drop money to spend Blush

Mcmcmcmc · 29/10/2021 15:11

Naturisimo also have a GWP (£150 minimum spend)
www.naturisimo.com/products/free-luxury-goody-bag

LizzieMacQueen · 29/10/2021 16:15

Latest in Beauty have 25% off 3 of their boxes (not the Sunday Times edit ones) with code Hallotreat25

Stella Smart Beauty, The Fabulous Actives Edit and our Stella Beauty Awards Edit

I like the LiB boxes, always get a good selection.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 30/10/2021 15:56

I held out for so long, but the Cult GWP is still in stock and I’ve just caved in. I blame Covid (on day 6 of it, have kept going up till now but am flopping in bed at the moment).

I bought the Hourglass Universe palette, the More Indulgence edit/kit thing (quite intrigued by some of the bits in that) and a mini Susanne Kaufmann bubble bath.

20FlowerPower · 30/10/2021 18:07

Really impressed with the current Space NK Afterdark GWP! Lower minimum spend than others, but with some nice goodies. Happy.

Giftwithpurchase · 30/10/2021 20:02

@LemonJuiceFromConcentrate sympathies, hope you feel better soon and absolutely you have to buy a treat! The CB gift is really good - enjoy
