Beauty chat - freebies/gifts with purchase/offers

I just wondered if anyone would be interested in discussing the beauty gifts with purchase/offers which come about on Cult Beauty, Space NK and the like every few months. I loved the advent calendar threads and thought this might be similar. If there's already a threat on this apologies & I'd appreciate the link! As you can tell I'm a little addicted and find them hard to resist and would love to compare with like minded pp. We could even do swaps if pp want.
I just cracked and bought the recent Cult Beauty 'Self Care' goodie bag - couldn't resist the name as I'm in desperate need of some self care after a rough few months (isn't everyone?!). I haven't opened it yet as haven't had the time with a 6 month old - but can't wait to have a peak. I also forgot what I bought for the £170 required purchase. But think I snuck in a few bit of makeup which isn't like me as I stick to my favourite makeup and usually just buy skincare and body stuff. Anyone else purchase it? What did you think? Be great to get notifications when other sites/retailers have good offers to!

I’ve yet to ‘investigate’ the bag contents fully. Agree about the Margaret Dabbs stuff. I have 2 yellow ‘nail and cuticle pens’ from the recent advent calendar and autumn GWP and now this one, which I assume must be a bit different? I honestly just keep forgetting to use them as my nails aren’t too bad anyway (unlike the rest of me 😂).

I quite like the Aurelia cleanser. Recently finished one this size. Would be ideal for that now-forbidden activity (whispers)........travel......
I had a spray of the perfume. Not keen, but there was another from this brand in the advent calendar- Dear Polly, I think. Wasn’t keen on that at first but it grew on me after a couple of days. I’ll give this another go tomorrow.
Also sprayed the room fragrance stuff around. OK and long lasting, but I prefer something a bit more floral (can’t you tell I’m used to the cheap supermarket stuff? 🤣🤣🤣). It was beautifully packaged though.
The wet brush is a bit lost on me, I’ve short, very fine hair that just needs a quick comb and hand-moulding into shape. Will pass that on to dd.

Bag arrived. Very nice colour and a really good size, not too big or small.

Definitely email them @Pomegranatespompom. The lipstick looked a bit dark for me when I tried it on my wrist, but once I rubbed it in a bit it toned down to a more neutral sheen, so I think it’s something I will use. Very, very tempted to keep the five minutes peace kit for myself haha. It’s lovely. Going off to the Liberty site to investigate purses now....... I don’t need a purse, but the bag is so lovely.......... 😂😂😂

Yes, mine is the burgundy bag. It is really nice and a good size, not too big or small

Initially I really like the look of the evening cleanser, the perfume and the body oil, which is great for my dry heels.

I’m not too keen on the aurelia cleanser, this will be the second yet to be opened one I have. I wish they would use their plastic free deodorant instead, which I really like and would be very happy to get

Obviously I really like the size of the bag! Ignore that I repeated that, I tried to post earlier but it wasn’t happening and I obviously got mixed up on what posted and what didn’t.

@Pomegranatespompom, definitely email their customer service. I’ve recently had a very good experience them on a different issue (A marked contrast to my experience with Look Fantastic!)

I find the Aurelia cleanser fine, but also have 3 other sample sized ones unopened from other things, and there are other cleansers I prefer.

Pleased with the 5 minutes peace kit, but was spoilt by the Big Night In from a few weeks ago, which is one of the nicest I’ve bought in a long time. Really enjoying the Faace mask; one of a number of products that were totally new to me.

Anyone know anything about the ilody serum? Not a brand I’d heard if before.

I haven’t heard of ilody before either but will give it a try. It’s not the nicest colour, I have to say.

Having issues just getting onto mumsnet today ☹️. @AprilLady - relieved to read that I’m not the only one who buys the Liberty ‘kits’ as well as getting the GWPs. Loved the Big Night In one, plus I have an (unopened) Sleep Kit I bough just before Christmas when it was reduced in price. It’s lively too. I got the Five Minutes Peace kit as a gift for someone, but have decided to keep it for myself! I have about six Liberty print wash bags now, all of which housed various ‘kits’ over the past couple of years. I think I’m addicted 🤣.
I’ve had a look at purses @Pomegranatespompom, and unfortunately ( or should I say ‘fortunately’ haha) can’t find one to match the grey bag.
I’ll try the oil on my heels. They certainly need some attention before Spring.
Must go and look at the ilody and faace stuff......

I also browsed the Liberty bag accessories. What would appeal to me, if life ever returns to normal, is the season ticket card holder. I’d love to upgrade from my basic Rail company version.

Anyone tempted by the Look Fantastic Mothers Day set? It’s a no for me (especially given my spend already this month!)

ooh thanks for this! Also Harvey Nichols do GWPs a couple of times a year I think there is one due March/April. I once got one and it was lovely

The makeup bag looks good @Pomegranatespompom, but not sure I really need another one, so I’ll resist (for now 😂).

I might well be up for swaps in the future, but right now the ‘unwanted’ stuff from my advent calendar and other recent purchases/ gifts is sat in a pile waiting for dd to be ‘allowed’ to travel home across country and pick through it all. Hopefully travel within the U.K. will be permitted soon 😳.
@AprilLady - the Look Fantastic box looks nice, but I’ve been put off ordering from them by the delivery issues some posters had with their advent calendars towards the end of last year. If you do order, let us know how it goes.........

Hello everyone - thanks for all the replies and sorry for my absence - a non sleeping/teething/nearly crawling baby has taken all my time the past few days! Oh I'm so sad I missed the Liberty GWP - I'm also signed up to their emails but don't seem to get any! The tote bags are absolutely gorgeous - so jealous. I love both colours. I STILL haven't opened my cult beauty gwp.. waiting for a bit of time to myself so I can really enjoy the process of looking through it. Great to know there might be a space NK one along soon ...

@LordEmsworth you are so right about the pattern of the offers - probably why I always get the Cult Beauty gwp because it comes first and then I can't justify the others! I really want the next Liberty one tho, the bags are just so lovely.

Agree that Liberty do great GWPs. The catch though is that the range of products at Space NK and Cult Beauty is better.

I had been building up a wish list for GWP purposes, and only 2 of the 14 or so items on my list was actually available and in stock at Liberty. Instead though, I do have some lovely treats to look forward to, such as a large Diptyque candle

I’m eagerly awaiting the space nk GWP as I have a large list of things in my basket!
The only downfall with theirs I often find though is that it tends to be quite sample heavy; like really tiny mini things and I’d much rather have fewer bigger things especially as the minis are often repeats from advent calendars and I dislike all the excess packaging from so many small things. Loads of plastic that barely lasts days of applications in some cases.
Still, I’ll be checking it out when it launches and will go for it if it interests me.

Completely agree - I'd much rather have fewer but larger sizes .. you can't tell if you like the product if it's so minuscule either
