We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

Oh and I love a dress over trousers.... I used to do it at work quite regularly. .... remember those days of going to work and seeing people? 😢

ParisJeTAime · 14/02/2021 09:26

I also enjoyed the three way styling challenge! Maybe next Saturday?

I'm not dressed! Will post a pic when I am.

Oh, my JL order is on its way and I'm soooooo excited. Should be able to collect tomorrow!

Boots and dress have arrived! I am thrilled with the dress. Still thinking about the boots which DH thinks are too "goth" Confused.

The neckline is quite high on the dress, which doesn't normally suit me, but I think this looks ok and the dress feels wonderful. Great quality.

Dress; Alice Temperley Somerset (from JL), 18
Boots; Clark's, 7

I love your JL stuff. Those boots are really really not too goth. They are Clark’s ffs.
I want to do the 3way challenge, but I have gout and can’t stand up right now. I have a new jumper which I love, but which breaks all my rules, it’s oversized, turtle necked and boxy in a thick wool. I really need help to make it work.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 14/02/2021 14:20

I really like the Temperley dresses via JL and great to see it fitting you so well I've always been hesitant to get one re fit. I think I might have one in my JL basket @ParisJeTAime

ParisJeTAime · 14/02/2021 14:21

They are Clark’s ffs.

This was EXACTLY what was going through my head as I put them back in their Clark's box Confused.

Ouch Zebra. Gout sounds so painful! Hope you can join next time or maybe you could do it sitting down, or just take a pic of the clothes layed out?

ParisJeTAime · 14/02/2021 14:23

I really love the dress @FlyingByTheSeatof! I think the sizing is true to size...maybe on the bigger side, if anything..? But not sure tbh. It is lovely quality though and I'm really pleased with it.

TaylorSwaft · 14/02/2021 15:25

@ParisJeTAime those boots look fab. And the dress is lovely. Both keepers. In the nicest possible way I try not to seek out the opinion of my husband on fashion 😂 that's what this thread is for surely?!

ParisJeTAime · 14/02/2021 15:49

True Taylor 😂. A fashion guru he is NOT.

OP posts:
Divebar2021 · 14/02/2021 22:32

@ParisJeTAime

Yep. Loving both of those... they look like they fit you really well. The fabric looks nice quality too.

@Zebracat

A couple of my favourite tops are oversized sweatshirts... I just love them. I’m not too bothered about how flattering or unflattering they are. They’re very versatile too. I’m sorry about the gout .... I hope it’s feeling a bit better

ParisJeTAime · 14/02/2021 23:45

Thanks @Divebar2021! I'm definitely keeping the dress, which I love. I am keeping the boots at least until the other dresses from Hush arrive, so I can try them on with those too. I can see the boots working with a good few outfits, so chan ces are I'll keep them Smile

Ooh sorry I missed the 3-ways challenge. Trying to think which item I would do it with.

Now it's finally not freezing, I'm looking forward to ditching the Uggs and leggings combo for today at least. Will post once I'm dressed...

StCharlotte · 15/02/2021 09:56

Ha ha ha - how about two garments one way?

These are my two latest acquisitions. The longer one is White Stuff. Had it for a couple of weeks but too cold to wear it until today. Labels off and returns label long since gone. So it stays. Also I really like it.

Shorter one is Manteray and I love it. Also staying. Despite being so similar - even the fabric is similar Grin But I'm a sucker for a cowl neck.

And this begs the question. Do I take the hem up on the longer one?

A lands end dress and black leggings. I call it my daisy dress but it isn't really daisies just quite small flowers!

ParisJeTAime · 15/02/2021 11:36

Oh I like both of those Charlotte. I quite like both lengths actually, but I know photos aren't always accurate and in person it might be different. I personally wouldn't necessarily take it up in case you want to wear it with bare legs or sheer tights.

Daisy / not daisy dress sounds cute Deathray!

I'm on a Lenten health kick / absolute mission. I stress I am not fixating on weight or size, but just taking care of myself. Have done a really good workout this morning and about to go for a long, muddy walk with dd. So I will be in wet weather gear today! Might change when we get home and will post again then.

Also giving up my beloved GinWine (only for Lent). I've seen it mentioned a few times on other threads and am going to give it a go. Anticipating glowing skin and amazing energy levels forthwith Grin.

I'm wearing a lot of clothes today, I can't get warm, but I think I'm just tired after a 20 hour "shift" (we're technically allowed to sleep diring the 10pm to 5am stretch but it usually works out as getting into bed around midnight for about 4 hours broken sleep).

I'm wearing uniqlo heattech thermal leggings, uniqlo heattech thermal polo neck, walking socks, a long sleeved t shirt over the polo neck, a very thick fluffy jumper and my dark green cargo trousers.

StCharlotte · 15/02/2021 12:19

Thank you. I think you're right about the hem ParisJeTAime. And actually I think the longer length is slightly more classy.

I decided to keep the boots after all on the basis that there really isn't anything else out there that I like as much (now I've decided that navy ankle boots are an essential addition to my wardrobe) and also they're suede so they will stretch (they will they will!). If I can't stretch them myself through wear, there's a lovely cobbler down the road - who is open and who worked miracles with a tight pair of Seasalt suede shoes so I'll hand them over so he can do his magic. In the meantime, I'm now wearing them today as the only walking I have to do is to/from the kitchen and loo. They're not uncomfortable when I'm sitting down but I'm walking a bit like a novice drag queen at the moment. The left one is fine, it's just the right one that needs some give.

They are these: www.monsoon.co.uk/serenity-suede-point-ankle-boots-blue-15159161.html?dwvar_15159161_color=NAVY&quantity=1

Good luck with your Lent sacrifices - I barely drink these days and have been changing my eating habits over the last few months as it is, so I'm not sure what's left to give up! Maybe I'll turn it round and add something positive. Yes: I will do a stint on the rowing machine every day during the Lent, which will hopefully have become a habit by Easter. Thank you for the inspiration Smile

StCharlotte · 15/02/2021 12:21

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme Oh you poor thing. I think the coldness that comes from tiredness is impossible to shift sometimes. Is a hot water bottle a possibiity?

Zebracat · 15/02/2021 14:33

Well tried the 3 way challenge and answered my own question because this jumper looked awful with a skirt and with leggings.Too bad to post. It is quite new but dh washed it and it seems to have suffered. I have other oversized jumpers and I do really like them, but this one is just too square somehow. Jumper and jeans John Lewis.
Thanks all for your concern. I can stand up a bit today, and the GP is really trying to find something to help. She said she would talk to an endocrine specialist, Which is odd cos I thought gout was covered by rheumatologists, but what would I know.

Plus size chat / what are you wearing today sort of thread?
ParisJeTAime · 15/02/2021 14:40

Oh I quite like that @Zebracat, but I see what you mean re maybe it having gone through a warmer wash than maybe it should have! I ruined a wool jumper a while ago and I'm not over it, at all Hmm. My fault though! I thought I could sneak it in with a normal 30° cycle. No, no I could not!

Charlotte, that's a good idea re rowing! I am not a total old soak, but I do love wine and gin!! I don't drink every night and when I do drink I don't get trashed or anything, but still, it all adds up I guess and ends up with less energy, poor health etc etc. I'm primed and ready with elderflower cordial and tonic in the fridge for the weekend 😂. Yes, I know it's only Monday, so what 🤣?

OP posts:
ParisJeTAime · 15/02/2021 14:43

PS: @Zebracat, you have amazing legs!

OP posts:
StCharlotte · 15/02/2021 14:54

I second the great legs Zebracat!

Oh ParisJeTAime don't get me wrong. I love a drink! It's just that we don't generally drink at home (except for the weekly family zoom quizzes) so it's just not happening enough to give up, if that makes sense?

Anyway, the other two dresses I ordered last week have arrived today. Quite different from my earlier ones. The red one looks hideous in the picture but actually looks nice on and is a bit of frivolity.

Also, you will be unsurprised to hear I am now wearing slippers!

StCharlotte · 15/02/2021 14:54

As referred to above.
