We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

I could go with a dress I bought from Cos last year and have never worn as I'm struggling with how to style it...but that might actually be a step too far! It really is a tricky one! It looks best without a jacket you see, which makes it hard at the moment...

Hmm I'll have a think and a root around in my wardrobe later.

@Divebar2021

A sale at John Lewis you say? 😂
😂 sorry! (But not really sorry).

The dress I have ordered was something like £99 reduced to £29 and gets good reviews re quality and fit, so 🤞.

The sale bits in John Lewis are really good. They had some fabulous Mother of Pearl cropped wide leg jeans for £15.00. I made the mistake of dithering and someone else snapped them up. Although they were a size 16 so would have been ahem aspirational, and that’s something else I want to avoid in my wardrobe.

LordOfTheOnionRings · 13/02/2021 11:33

I'm just in a sun and star top I THINK I got from ASOS today. John Lewis does have some amazing sales, especially on handbags, I have bought many a Dune handbag on sale there!

Anyone have any super fluffy jumper or cardigan recommendations?

@ParisJeTAime @Divebar2021 okay. Deep breath - slight anxiety about posting on a public forum... but here are the Air and Grace boots three ways. Jeans, floaty dress, shorter dress. Smile

Divebar2021 · 13/02/2021 11:47

Aaaaaahhhhh @TaylorSwaft well done 👏🏽 👏🏽 I HATE photographing myself... I feel so awkward. I’m loving that midi dress in the middle ( I like that colour a lot) but that third look is my favourite. Your legs look great in the boots. I think mini dresses might be your thing. Wait for someone else to come along and pick something different. 😀

ParisJeTAime · 13/02/2021 11:52

No actually, I totally agree with you divebar! Love the midi dress but think the best look on Taylor is the mini.

Setting the bar there Taylor! I'm off to have a hunt through my wardrobe Grin

TaylorSwaft · 13/02/2021 12:13

@ParisJeTAime @Divebar2021 thank you both Smile I also realise that I have meshed the 'love the boots' with the 'style three ways' challenge.
I agree that in the photos the mini look is nicest; in my life though I'm too shy to leave the house with that much leg out and I'm much more rotund than those shots would have you believe. I may wear that mirror like a sandwich board 😂 happy sunny Saturday and I'm looking forward to seeing your looks too .

ParisJeTAime · 13/02/2021 12:20

I love that you mashed the boot chat with be challenge!

May I submit these three?

I chose a skirt, which I bought a few months ago from Dorothy Perkins closing down (I think?) sale, and which I can't really decide on. It came up big in sizing, but it is super comfy on the waist as a result!

@TaylorSwaft that middle dress is DIVINE!

@TaylorSwaft . Those boots are fabulous. I love all 3 looks, but especially that midi dress.
Paris, I like that skirt a lot. Prefer the 3rd photo with short sleeves and boots. Still thinking about this in terms of my clothes.
@LordOfTheOnionRings need more info on super furry jumpers before recommendations could be made. What is your vision?

ParisJeTAime · 13/02/2021 12:37

Thanks @Zebracat. The print on the skirt is very 'me'. I am a sucker for a small floral print! A very fashionable friend hates floral prints, so I may be rebelling a bit, mwahaha!

It's the length I wasn't sure about, but glad you approve! Dd(6) does too. She is so complimentary bless her. I await the "WHAT are you WEARING mum?" years, with trepidation... Grin.

TaylorSwaft · 13/02/2021 12:44

Thanks @onion it was from a little shop and was about £30 and I've never seen anyone else in one.
@ParisJeTAime I like the trainer/short jacket look. I think you have fabulous ankles/legs and such great proportions and that the boots hide your assets. But the skirt is lovely all three ways.

ParisJeTAime · 13/02/2021 13:02

Ah thanks Taylor SmileFlowers

FlyingByTheSeatof · 13/02/2021 13:19

@TaylorSwaft Yes love both dresses but the mini suits you best only because it makes you look the slimmest. Makes me realise I should be braver with that shorter look again.

@ParisJeTAime there are so many floral prints which many trendy people will wear so erase what your friend has said for sure. There are some really naff floral prints out there so avoid those.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 13/02/2021 13:29

@ParisJeTAime love the skirt

ParisJeTAime · 13/02/2021 13:41

Thanks Flying Grin!

I agree, florals are great. Some are not. Dfriend would admit this too really. It's all good natured! I wouldn't wear some of the stuff she loves either Grin

@ParisJeTAime

You look lovely in all 3 looks... with 3 different moods too. Number 1 is very playful and is my favourite. I was also going to do a midi skirt but thought I’d better pick something else. Errrr so I’ve gone for jeans. Now hear me out... these are wider legs jeans I bought new from a charity shop ( ASOS). They have no stretch and I’ve never been able to get them in before. So, this really did entail dragging my entire wardrobe out which is now a bombsite

Divebar2021 · 13/02/2021 14:30

Look number 1. Worn very casually with a grey cashmere sweater ( has wide sleeves) and round toed snakeprint boots bought preloved.

Look number 2. Cream silk shirt ( Jaeger), Cos blazer, and bag by & Other Stories all preloved

Look number 3. Dress from ASOS and suede shoes from M&S.

(I found the shoes difficult and I look forward to wearing these jeans with birkies when it’s not -2. )

I honestly love all of those looks @Divebar2021! But I think the first one is my favourite. Genuinely hard to pick between them though!

Those jeans were a good charity shop find and it's always amazing when you can fit into something which has always been too snug.

TaylorSwaft · 13/02/2021 16:44

@Divebar2021 I like 1 and 3 best. I love the dress. The jumper is very this season I believe - sleeve lengths are a thing 🥰. But all three are great looks. And yes roll on summer to get the toes out. Eek.

Zebracat · 13/02/2021 18:00

They are all great, Divebar. Glad to see you doing the dress and jeans thing. I do that but because I loathe tights but love dresses, have worried it’s a bit orphan child., well not on you!. I have a pair of straight leg jeans, but do worry about wider legs when my legs are my best bit, concerned I would look like a bin store. Well you certainly don’t.
I think they are all winners.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 14/02/2021 08:43

Where's the jumper in the forst picture from Divebar ? Agree the jeans outfit looks good in all the pictures especially 1 and 3. I don't think I'd pull a dress with jeans look off, must also be a proportions thing.

I've just ordered some Levi 501s, I'm wondering whether the unisex cut will be good for my shape... Worth trying. I tried my 13 year old's jeans on the other day just to see if they fit (he's a lot taller than me and likes his clothes baggy!) and thought they looked unexpectedly good Blush

I'm not sure what I'd do for the style 3 ways challenge, as I don't have many shoes to change the looks with ... I have a Jules blazer I like but have never worn, but I'd only wear it with jeans and a black thin roll neck jumper I think...

Most of the stuff that sits unworn in my wardrobe is formal dresses bought for a single occassion - even without covid my daily life doesn't call for formal dresses! I do have some jacket-cardigan things I mifht think about, but I think theyre really too big, like the teddy gillet thing (I realised when I put it in the wash it's 4 sizes bigger than what I was wearing underneath).

Divebar2021 · 14/02/2021 09:22

Oh sadly that jumper is from Macies... @UntilYourNextHairBrainedSchemeI I was trying to remember when I got it... 15 years ago maybe. I did a shopping trip to NYC with my mum. Sorry about that. 😂. It’s survived through lack of use I think because I’m not that precious with my cashmere!!. Who knew it would be such a winner.

The formal evening wear is my down fall too.. I’m just getting rid of some dresses mostly unworn and I still have several left. I also love tuxedo / evening jackets and have at least 3. I think even when I did go out (which was quite often) I didn’t wear formal wear. The trick I guess is to find a way to wear it casually otherwise the cost per wear is ridiculous. ( alternatively buy it second hand)

I’ve just uncovered a box of jeans which included 2 pairs of Levi’s - 512s and 505s - straight legs. (Unworn) 501s look shit on me. I would be so happy if I could wear a shirt tucked into jeans and not feel self conscious.

I’m going to do some more 3 way challenges because it really makes me think about what I have.
