We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

I've got so many unworn jeans, some even still in the wrapping. I get overexcited and buy them in different shades and sizes etc then just end up wearing my favourites anyway

FlyingByTheSeatof · 12/02/2021 11:33

I'm in leggings and a burgundy Superdry T-shirt

I forgot about my sourdough and left it in the mixer for an hour - waiting to see if it rises at all.

Boiler's been fixed yay so relieved.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 12/02/2021 11:45

FlyingByTheSeatof yay for mended boiler. Thats a good idea to tell copycats the jeans are from an expensive brand or unbranded.

New shirt - massively refuduced Whitestuff shirt (size 16) via Next.de, down to 13€ from 48... I ordered it ages ago and it took 4 weeks to arrive... Next jeans, ancient but much worn cardigan...

I'm taking the kids and myself for passport photos - will I regret this shirt on my passport?

I was wearing a black turtle neck earlier then DD came down in an identical one and said she'd been planning it as her passport photo outfit so I got changed to avoid embarrasing mum-and-me passports for her sake, given she's no longer 5 years old... BlushGrin

oops, photo

Haha that is a genius idea re telling people unbranded or ££££ brand. Although some of my best friends work in fashion, so I expect they won't be interested in copying me and if they were they'd know too much if I lied and said they were designer!

I don't think you'll regret that shirt at all @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! Looks a lovely colour. Aw yes, my dd and I got complimented on our matching coats the other day. They only match by coincidence really, but I will miss these days when she doesn't mind dressing like me!

I hope it goes without saying though, that anything I post on here, I consider fair game! Don't mind people on MN buying the same thing as me at all as we are unlikely to be out together IRL!

I'm busy parcelling up a few things to send back. Trying to be nature about it and not just keeping things for the hell of it. Boots have gone back (too shiny and too tall! I was expecting just above ankle length and they are longer than that in person).

Jeans will probably go back, but I'm going to try them with a turn-up later and see if that makes a difference. I really like the jeans but I don't know if they suit me sadly! I bought them with warmer weather in mind, so ankles showing would be practical and might look better.

After serious thought, (yes, this is seriously all I have to occupy my mind today ConfusedBlush), I think I'm going to send back the dresses. I love the shape, but I'm not convinced by the fabric or prints. In the spirit of being super discerning and not keeping anything I don't 100% LOVE, I am sending them back.

Oh that's boring *Paris" - being sensible and sending stuff back Grin

My gorgeous boots arrived just now. They were very pinchy across the toes on one foot - an uncomfortable reminder of how long the pedicurist has been closed - and a very dark navy. So they're going back. Boo.

I'm going to venture out today. First time this week. Although we have heating, it's nice to have the fire lit on these freezing nights and we've run out of logs. So I'm going to drive my car, ooh all of 500 yards, to get some. The roads are clear now but the pavements are still very icy.

Zoom drinks planned for this evening. Cancelled three times so far. Let's see what happens..

ParisJeTAime · 12/02/2021 13:22

😂😂😂 Charlotte!

Sorry about the boots. Check us out though, sending things back when they don't suit! Mega mature . We'll be...I dunno... playing bridge and...and... darning our socks next, or whatever it is proper grown ups do Wink.

The Monki stuff is going back. Jeans and top Sad. Ah well. Means more room in my wardrobe for perfect things only!

OP posts:
ParisJeTAime · 12/02/2021 14:58

As an aside btw, I had to phone Monki as my returns slip had gone missing, (I never saw it, so either it was missed out or I somehow lost it, but I don't actually think I did), and they were a total pleasure to deal with. So would definitely buy from them again!

So here I am ,dressed for once in an old NoaNoa jumper,Hope trousers and Moshulu boots. I’m going to a funeral , by no means family or anything of the sort and in fact it’s all a bit awkward. Hoping to look very much background rather than hastily thrown together occasion wear. I’ve just had gout, so no choice abut footwear.

ParisJeTAime · 12/02/2021 15:53

Oh dear, sorry about the awkward funeral! Hope it all goes as well as can be expected Flowers

I am also all in black now after changing out of the Monki try on outfit. I am not going to a funeral though, just dressed as if I might be. Struggling to take a photo in bright living room, but this is a black top! Wearing with black bootcut jeans.

And you look perfect btw. Neat and well presented without being showy.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 12/02/2021 17:23

Zebracat hello - hope the funeral wasn't awkward after all. You look lovely and perfectly dressed for your quietly appropriate objective.

Zebracat · 12/02/2021 17:54

Thank you kind people. It was a very beautiful service, but also very very sad as they were young with school age children. So I was glad that I went.
Wasted a lot of time today (trying not to think about death) admiring a £59.00 T-shirt on the Wrap website. It is linen, scoop necked with “ blouson” sleeves. It comes in a perfect pale blue, which is currently my colour of choice. I really want it, but I don’t want to pay so much, so I have searched for a dupe across a wide range of shops. Now got filled baskets all over the place adding up to far more than the original, and I don’t like them as much, although I did find a massively reduced Maxmara top in John Lewis that almost does it for £27.00 and a steal in H&M with possibly a little too much elastication going on.This is how I end up spending more than I can afford. I try and save a few quid. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Paris, I really like your collar, perfect nod to a trend without any built in obsolescence .

Damn you clothes and shoes for not fitting! Shakes fists!!!! Sending back is such a hassle isnt it? I’ve had my second two eBay purchases arrive - one jacket which is good and one pair of trousers which are so hilariously small I was agog when I removed them from the packaging. Of course my own fault for not asking for measurements but I just know they’re being sold because they’re more like a 14 than an 18.... and they’re so long! I will measure tomorrow and see what the waist is. I think if you sell preloved clothes it’s only fair to say if something is smaller than anticipated.

So change of subject... I know there are some Sweaty Betty fans here. I’ve never worn them but wondered if you rate the leggings and whether you’d buy them full price? Ive seen some I really like but they’re £95 ( although I think I have 15% off.)

@zebracat - hope the funeral was ok

Zebracat · 12/02/2021 18:08

And the Maxmara

Divebar2021 · 12/02/2021 18:14

Is this the T shirt you really want for £59 @Zebracat ? Firstly I would pay £59 for the perfect thing rather than the cheaper version if there was a quality difference. My only caveat would be for very trend led pieces. I know that full sleeves are very “in” and I think that will continue this year but I’m not sure how long that will last... so I’m not sure I would spend £59 on a T shirt if it’s going to have a short shelf life.

Divebar2021 · 12/02/2021 18:16

Oh crossed post again. Hmmmmm 🤔

Divebar2021 · 12/02/2021 18:18

I actually prefer the first one. Whichever that one is... I prefer the scoop neckline.

Zebracat · 12/02/2021 18:24

Thanks, Divebar, I am not liking a lot of the very full sleeves around. Not usually too concerned about fashion. I just really like this top, and I think I always would. But it is a lot of money. Like many others though, you are my style crush, so if you say no, that’s good enough for me.
I keep looking at Sweaty Betty too, and if it wasn’t that I’d bought the Sinophant leggings from Amazon, and love them , still, 6 months later, after loads of washes, I might think they were worth it!

Zebracat · 12/02/2021 18:27

Me too, like the first one colour too. I’m letting my hair go grey and it really changes colours, but I think pale blue suits me, although I look like a pig in most pastels.

ParisJeTAime · 12/02/2021 19:04

Sorry, but I think it's lovely! While, yes, £59 is quite a lot for a top, it isn't crazy money, unless you're going into your overdraft for it or something. I would buy it to try on, especially as it's a colour which suits you, with the proviso that if it isn't perfect you send it back. This is what I'm trying to do. All the sending back is a PITA though, I know.

I'm in the lookout for boots and dresses again, since sending the others back! God I miss in person shopping Sad.
