We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

I saw this raincoat in Arket which looks quite smart

My leggings are from M&S and are called faux leather high waisted Jeggings. But if you want the leather look go for the faux leather leggings which are much different.

The photo is of the blue Jeggings in faux leather but are more like coated jeans material. I'm wearing them today to see if they stay above my tummy which so far they have. They are stretchy and super comfy

Leggings in faux leather which look like leather as in these photos.

All from M&S

I have them in a 16 and they all fit me perfectly

@Eesha these sell out quickly so if they have your size buy them as I think the price for the quality is amazing and the fact they're all high waisted is also brilliant.

I have quite a big tummy and they're staying up well and not rolling down so I'm very happy with them.

If you had to chose one then I'd go for the faux leather leggings (with an L) as they look like leather and have a slightly higher waist and are soft and lovely to wear

Eesha · 08/02/2021 16:46

@FlyingByTheSeatof these look cool, thank you! I'm just wondering though whether to buy them as tbh I'm not going anywhere and it's just me and my toddlers at home!!! What do you wear yours with?

LordOfTheOnionRings · 08/02/2021 19:19

Thanks for the raincoat recommendations! I think I'm going to go with the seasalt ones.

The faux leather leggings are lovely! I remember them being in fashion years ago but SUPER shiny and just awful. They are really gorgeous and a good price!

I'm in my favourite cardigan today which is from M&S - I have the yellow jumper too as I love the colour so much, can't see the vibrancy too well in the photos!

Hope you ladies have all had a nice day!

Those coated jeggings I think are a bit less full on than the Spanx ones, which I think really did look like leather! They look great on you @FlyingByTheSeatof!

It was snowing all day today, but sadly not a lot on the ground. Dd is miffed! I'm in Uniqlo jeggings, Seasalt Towpath boots, a long sleeved tee and lambswool jumper (both Uniqlo)!

@Eesha I wear the same as I would with my jeans only they make everything look better somehow Grin

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/02/2021 21:07

Our boiler went off this morning, it was bloody freezing and snowing outside. It's gone off, back on, off, then back on again which it is now thank god. It's taken hours just to get back up to 17 degrees which compared to this morning feels like a sauna. Thank god we had our Oodie's to wear. Never have I been so thankful for an item of clothing.

Hi. I am a 24 too and find that plus size clothes tend to be rather frumpy - can you, or anyone reading this, recommend trendy/classy retailers for plus size clothes?

Boohoo do plus size, they're usually aimed at the younger market.

Simply Be and ASOS

Divebar2021 · 08/02/2021 22:22

@elliebabs60

I think a lot of the “ fast fashion” brands do a Curve range now. I don’t know if ASOS were pioneers on that front but theirs was the first trendy brand I saw which wasn’t about covering up in floaty kaftans. Mango have a range called Violetta. H&M do one too although I’ve only tried their active wear. For something better quality I’m not sure where I’d go. I think Marks & Spencer is a good start ( and I can be verrry critical of them). There is a brand called Navabi which seems to be higher end but I’ve never bought from them. I would probably buy a couple of better quality classic pieces then mix it with something more high street. There is a stylist called Lucie Clifford who I follow on Insta. She seems to have been working with Tu. she’s plus size herself and although her style is not the same as mine I’m always interested in what she’s wearing.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/02/2021 22:31

I bought some lovely items from Lagenlook a couple of years ago when I increased in dress size. They're cut in such a way I can still wear them now. I have dresses and tops. The trousers sell out quickly so I never managed to get the ones I was after. In fact I might have look now.

elliebabs60 · 08/02/2021 23:50

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. I recognise a few of the brands mentioned - I shall certainly give them as go. M&S I find can be a bit or a miss with the sizing and, as someone touched on, I have kaftan type back ups for lounging/working from home that really don't do me any favours in the flattery dept. But thanks again to all contributors.

Divebar2021 · 09/02/2021 07:27

@elliebabs60

I just had a quick look and Navabi have a big sale on. Big as in quantity and also discounts. I saw coats discounted from £187 reduced to £74. They do classic stuff but also more trend let items like jumpsuits, Midi dresses etc. They collaborate with “ influencer” Bethany Rutter although I don’t k ow what your taste is her range is called Arched Eyebrow. I’ve attached 2 looks that I liked.

I used to shop from Ulla Popkin's Studio Untold range when I was a 24. I'm older than the target audience for that range but it's a lot nicer than their main range. Its a German brand but you can get loads of it on Amazon UK. They go from a 14 (42) to EU 58 (UK 30) a UK 24 is an EU 52.

I agree though ASOS is probably the best option as they have pretty much everything if you can find it!

I wanted to share my Aldi purchase yesterday - black jersey dress for 7€!

Cardigan is one I've had years and years from C&A (still going strong here in Germany) ... Snag tights which I bought years ago when interviewing for jobs, before ending up in a jeans and a jumper workplace... redescovered boots, which I haven't actually worn out of the house as we have thick snow again...

@elliebabs60, I second (or third) Asos. There are quite a few brands on there which have curve ranges. Asos own brand quality can be a bit hit and miss, but some of the non Asos brands are good on there and are a bit younger.

Not sure if it will work, but this MASSIVE link should be filtered to non Asos brands and size 24 @elliebabs60.

ParisJeTAime · 09/02/2021 08:37

Haaaaaaa @Divebar2021 😂😂😂.

I have another tab open on my phone where I've just added a (completely unnecessary at the moment) dress to my basket.

StCharlotte · 09/02/2021 08:42

I have a couple of things from Manteray which I've only seen in Debenhams. So with Debenhams being a bit wobbly, I went on yesterday and ordered three dresses which are heavily discounted at the moment.

Two are navy (natch) but one is bright red and florally. I thought it might be cheery for wfh.

There's a fairly lengthy lead time (10 days) so hopefully once they arrive, it might have thawed out enough to wear them!

Divebar2021 · 09/02/2021 08:46

La la la la. I can’t hear you. ( puts fingers in ears). I’ve bought 4 things off eBay this week. 4 things!!!!!

StCharlotte · 09/02/2021 08:47

My most useless purchases in the last year: two navy blazers. A nice one from Debenhams bought with a girls' weekend break in mind which was of course cancelled and another from Evans in the sale which hangs on the back of my office door in case I have to see clients GrinGrinGrin
