We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

PS: I bought my regular size and they did look teeny when I opened the packaging. But, my legs did go in without too much trouble.

@ParisJeTAime Are they Spanx brand or something else? I'd quite like some 'relaxed' Spanx - doubt if that's a thing but comfortable & a bit sucky in without the military foundation of smoothing alll the rolls of fat if that makes sense? Light control - that's what I'm after!

Still in pjs here & looking forward to a lazy day

ParisJeTAime · 07/02/2021 12:11

They are Spanx @buckeejit! DH has taken the dcs out (for a walk, naturally), so I'm having a bath and then going to try them on again with some proper clothes.

They are level 2 control (does sound a bit militaristic actually), which is meant to be medium control. If you size up, you might get lighter.

Will show you when I'm dressed. Even with the 20% off they were pricey imo, so want to be sure they are keepers.

I've tried them on with a few things and decided to send them back, sadly. As I was getting changed a lot, I was bending over and found the waistband kept rolling down! Also, just not convinced they're 'me'. They weren't cheap, so back they go! Ah well.

I'm in black, bootcut jeans from Tu, a breton sblack and white striped top from M&S and a black cardi, also from Tu. Will post a pic later!

buckeejit · 07/02/2021 14:17

Ah, what a shame - that's what I've always found from control undergarments, they're too restrictive & the rolling down is awful. The search continues!

ParisJeTAime · 07/02/2021 14:24

Ah well, it was worth a try!

Here is my outfit today. A bit burglar Bill maybe, but you know Grin

Thats a shame ParisJeTAime - shape wear snd holdy in things don't seem to work for me either - they always make me look more sausage shape or give me a muffin top or roll down, generally make me look and feel worse than ordinary clothes.

I love the Cartoon strip docs - can't scroll back mid post to check who it was - StCatherine ?

I have another day off and have been digging old stuff out - not worn heels in a decade but I like these boots... Put earrings in for the first time in about 3 years (still went in with a bit of persuasion) and dug through the paltry bit of jewelry I own - quite fancy getting more but I always break or lose things...

Oops meant to change the attached photo not post!
Next jeans, Cecil t shirt (my 9 year old said I should wear more green - obviously I take fashion advice from 9 year old boys...) no idea where the cardigan is from, its one of two similar ones knocking around my wardrobe, the other has full length sleeves and is from H&M but this one has 3/4 sleeves and doesn't have a label...

I like the black and white, very French ParisJeTAime

Sorry I meant Myshitisreal 's boots!

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 07/02/2021 15:40

FlyingByTheSeatof I like the look of lits of the stuff on the Mint Velvet site. Sadly though the customs charges now put me off ordering direct as I'm in the EU. Next.de carries a selection of Mint Velvet stuff dispatched from Berlin, but not always the things I most covet... I guess its better really Blush They do have the shoes but I am still on the fence about ordering due to the combination of price and water related impracticality (couldn't wear them for work as there is a risk of them getting wet, couldn't wear them on days with potential for rain, obviously not anywhere muddy and I live in the countryside... limits the number of wears they'd get... but I think they look lovely) - have them in my saved for later!

LordOfTheOnionRings · 07/02/2021 16:11

Hey ladies, any recommendations for plus size (18+) good quality raincoats?

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 07/02/2021 16:18

LordOfTheOnionRings what sort of raincoat are you after? Wet and windy country walks or something more urban/ smart?
I have a Berghaus raincoat for walking when its wet but not freezing - they go up to at least a 20. I have a Decathlon snowboarding coat for hard core winter.
Sea Salt do up to a 26 but I have their packable raincoat and although I like how it looks and packs up, it isn't bloody waterproof! So I don't recommended that unless you're wearing it purely to deter others from quizzing you about not wearing a coat on very slightly overcast days...

ParisJeTAime · 07/02/2021 17:14

My raincoat is one I got through a Lookiero box! I like it, but no idea what the brand is.

I hear good things about Seasalt and they are offering 50% off for keyworkers if you happen to be one!

Thanks @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme. I also like your outfit and think the heels look good with that. I have been doing a similar thing to you today and going through my loft, optimistically getting out Spring things, or just things which I can wear when it's just a bit less cold. Freezing here again today and set to be cold all week, but March is round the corner, so fingers crossed!

Sea salt raincoats are good I've found. I always size up so that there's plenty of room for jumpers underneath - and because my bum is disproportionately bigger than elsewhere!

buckeejit · 07/02/2021 21:05

I've got a seasalt hunter coat & really like it. Bought it half price new on ebay which made it more palatable. I like that it's a thin coat but would also like a warmer coat sometimes.

buckeejit · 07/02/2021 21:10

It's actually a seafaring one I have, like it a lot. May buy another as I seem to be in buying mode 😬

Eesha · 07/02/2021 21:26

@FlyingByTheSeatof are these leather look coated?

Where is everyone shopping? My look seems to be floral ditsy dresses, always super colourful. I'm looking for something trendier, sharper and cooler for a change, like Cos but brighter colours. I'm 14/16, busty. I don't wear heels anymore.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 07/02/2021 23:27

@Eesha yes they're called leather look Jeggings for some reason although they're more like coated jeans which is exactly what I was after.

I also have the M&S high waisted faux leather leggings which do look like leather and are very very comfy and stretchy to wear.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme and @ParisJeTAime both your outfits look very slimming.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme you're my colouring and certain greens really suit me. You were talking about colouring the other day I think. Watch Justine Leconte colouring videos - I think that's her name. I'm a light summer and find those colours suit me the most like turquoise and darker blues

FlyingByTheSeatof · 07/02/2021 23:31

My raincoats are a Northface tri-climate and a Craghopper which is just above my knees. Both have a zip out fleece inside which is really handy for different seasons and temps etc

Divebar2021 · 08/02/2021 08:01

Raincoats are an issue for me too.... I have casual but not a good one I would wear uptown. A Cos coat I bought as a “ Mac” turned out to be not very waterproof at all so that was useful. I have probably 8-10 wool coats of various styles and a big puffa none of which is answering your question.

@Eesha - I would say my style veers towards urban. I shop now at Cos, Arket, Monki, Weekday and Kin at John Lewis. I used to wear Finery and & Other Stories. I have just bought a couple of things from Modern Rarity at JL which is a bit better quality than Kin and more classic shapes. When I was younger and thinner I shopped more at Whistles and brands like Comptoir de Cottoniers ( spelling?? Blush ). I wouldn’t say any of those brands do bright colours though. I’m trying to think of a new ( to me) company I found that does a range of knitwear and sweatshirts in different colours .... I think they’re Portuguese and a bit like Benetton. I shall have to go and think about that.

StCharlotte · 08/02/2021 08:42

I have a JL swing raincoat which I love and a Regatta candy striped sailing jacket but I don't think either would be warm enough for this time of year. I have a puffa coat which is showerproof but not waterproof as I found to my cost when I got caught in a downpour, so I nick DH's Barbour!

Eesha · 08/02/2021 09:15

@Divebar2021 thank you for this. I always get complimented on my cos stuff in brighter colours. I'm darker skinned so bright colours suit me. I'm going to have a look at all of those.

Myshitisreal · 08/02/2021 13:27

Thanks for the kind comments. That was lovely. I'm having thyroid issues amongst other things so am inflated, puffy and feeling rubbish, so your kind words meant a lot

My winter coat is dkny camoflague waterproof with fur lining on the hood. It's not to everyone's taste but I love it. It's so warm and heavy.

Jack hoody was an old ebay purchase. I've put up a photo of the label and the back as its so cool.

Jack clothes aren't easy to find but I do have a skirt from emp bought in November. Not all of their clothes are great quality though, can be hit and miss depending on the brand . Mum bought me it for my birthday

I dress mainly from charity shops as a lifestyle choice.

Really interesting reading about the colours.

Eesha · 08/02/2021 14:30

@FlyingByTheSeatof where are the coated jeggings from? Do you mind posting a link?
