We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

Me again.

I'm still trying NOT to buy these even though they would be perfect with most of my work wardrobe. Don't think I'll hold out past payday...

Lots of great recommendations and links - thanks you all so much. That'll keep me busy today while I'm snowed in!!!

Divebar2021 · 09/02/2021 09:32

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme

That was a great thrifty buy you have there with your jersey dress. I’m sure you’ll get loads of wear out of that. I have 3 Jaeger ones that I used to wear weekly. I’m just waiting to be a bit slimmer to fit back into mine.

ParisJeTAime · 09/02/2021 09:53

I like those boots @StCharlotte!

Your blazers are a lot less useless than my work stuff! I haven't worked in an office for circa 6 years, but I keep it thinking I will go back some day!

Here I am in:

Dress, EMP, forget their sizing - it is funny. I went for whatever an 18 or a 16-18 is there!
Top underneath, 16, H&M
Black snags

God knows why I'm in a dress, but hey ho!

@FlyingByTheSeatof, I saw your post last night and thought I'd replied! How is your boiler??? Hope you are ok. It is freezing here and we are far south of you, so guess it is Baltic there!

OP posts:
FlyingByTheSeatof · 09/02/2021 11:13

I'm in the south so only a bit of snow. It's working intermittently. It keeps going off sometime in the early morning. It did reset this morning when I pressed the reset button so that's something. Even with it on i can feel the cold in the rooms with more than one external wall. Luckily it's covered by the warranty as it's fairly new and a decent brand (despite the part that needs replacing).

I'm wearing my new PJs that I treated myself to and now don't want to take off because I just want to feel cosy today.

I'm not going to buy any more clothes for a while ahem Hmm because I've got everything I need for now. I will still browse though of course.

StCharlotte · 09/02/2021 11:15

I caved (unsurprisingly). The boots are on their way Smile.

Maybe someone other than DH will see them one day...

Divebar2021 · 09/02/2021 11:17

I’m not wearing any of my new stuff yet... the purchases are mounting up waiting for their first outing.

ParisJeTAime · 09/02/2021 11:27

Ah sorry @FlyingByTheSeatof! I must have you mixed up with someone else, as I thought you were in Scotland! Good that your boiler is covered. They always play up in winter, don't they?

Ha @StCharlotte! I'm still perusing dresses on that other site! Will probably cave.

OP posts:
ParisJeTAime · 09/02/2021 11:55

Yes, two new dresses! However, they were on offer and I will wear them in summer. They're also made of a sustainable viscose which I find more forgiving than cotton in terms of wrinkles, so think they will be useful. Can be worn anywhere, daytime, going out, work, when I go back... am I convincing anyone here 😂🙈?

Divebar2021 · 09/02/2021 11:58

What site is this? Damnit I’m trying not to buy the dress I posted up the page because I buy dresses and then don’t wear them much. ( they feel too much like a “best” kind of thing for me). Plus I’m trying not to buy black.

ParisJeTAime · 09/02/2021 12:04

Well, there was a thread on here a while ago @Divebar2021, where someone said they wore nothing but dresses and they made some very convincing arguments! So, I think dresses are a winner Wink.

The site is called Joanie and they have a code for 25% off dresses. I got two of their sustainable ones, (which make me feel slightly better and also, they are lovely looking dresses).

The dresses I got were Barb Magic Rabbit and Julietta Fern.

Hang on, I'll link and see what people think.

This^^ one is mainly black, which I also try to avoid near my face, (but sometimes black is just easy, so I just wear it), but I do think I suit that green, so think I might get away with it?

Nope! You're fooling no one. Especially me who can justify any purchase tee hee!
StCharlotte · 09/02/2021 12:21

Those are very pretty! It's taken years for me to accept I can't wear dresses that shape (as the Violeta dress proved the other week) although I can get away with skater style. You'd think they'd look the same but they don't. Buggered if I know what the difference is!

Divebar2021 · 09/02/2021 12:24

Yeah I bought my knitted dress from John Lewis off the back of that thread Grin. I’ve been exploring ways I can dress down my dresses ( including the Richmond sausage dress) but I need to be able to go somewhere other than Sainsbury’s.

Joanie is not really my taste so I’m safe from that temptation. Phew 😥

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 09/02/2021 12:36

My jersey dress and tights are now pretending to be a long t shirt and thermals under my walking trousers, walking socks and a massive jumper as I've been out for a walk in the snow while my youngest did the final less stressful homeschooling tasks... Not sure whether to return it to dress status to drive him to his appointment this afternoon... Probably not though as its -1 outside...

Hope your boiler holds out until the part is replaced FlyingByTheSeatof

ParisJeTAime · 09/02/2021 12:36

😂😂 oh ok then!

Oh glad you've dodged that then @Divebar2021 Grin.

I'm not sure how they will look in person, so they may go back. I do buy quite a few things, but a lot does go back as well, as I'm trying to be a bit more discerning, so nothing ends up lingering in my wardrobe!

ParisJeTAime · 09/02/2021 12:37

Meant to quote Nope! You're fooling no one. Especially me who can justify any purchase tee hee!, in my post sorry. The first line doesn't really make sense without it!

FlyingByTheSeatof · 09/02/2021 13:55

I love dresses. My favourites are midi with long sleeves that just skim my body and not tight anywhere otherwise they go straight back.

And for hot summer days I have lots of shift dresses, which I love, with thin cardi's which I'll keep on as long as I possibly can before I melt, to keep my arms covered. They're from shops like East, Espirit, French Connection, Boden, Lagenlook I forget where else. I've got quite the collection from the last few years and they seem to be timeless which is a bonus.

All the radiators are on and hot but it's taking longer than usual to heat the house up but that could be because it's - minus something outside or because of the boiler pressure thingy issue.

ParisJeTAime · 09/02/2021 14:07

Oh they sound lovely @FlyingByTheSeatof! I tend to suit tea dresses and skater dresses, especially with v necks. Anything clingy round my tummy and it is a hard no from me!!

Divebar2021 · 09/02/2021 16:12

@ParisJeTAime

Those dresses are cute Paris... I prefer the blue one personally. I like the silver boots too... I’ve got some from Vagabond that I found as ex display on eBay. Yet another purchase I’ve not had wear out of. I think I’m going to try and sell some bits on Depop while I’m stuck at home... although I dare say I’m a little over the average age. Sometimes I have the taste and impulse control of a teenager.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 09/02/2021 18:05

Yes they're very cute dresses @ParisJeTAime I forgot you had a link.

I have a similar sort of dress to the rabbit print from Joules. It's also navy blue, above the knee and with brown stags on it. It's too small for me now sadly although I havent tried it on for a while but it's a lovely soft jersey material which I dont usually go for in a dress but in this instance it was very flattering.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 09/02/2021 18:10

The blonde Joanie model is a size 16 and these dresses look great on her. My no spending spree has lasted all of 7 hours Hmm
