We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

Oh love that @LordOfTheOnionRings! That's a good tip re tiered skirts. I've never actually owned one of those. That one looks fab on you.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme I have trainers in that colour; Adidas Gazelles. They go with everything. Not sure I'd want to spend that much on a pair though.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 04/02/2021 07:04

JL are selling those MV trainers along with lots of similar ones. They're worth getting if you've set your heart on them. I really like them actually. Will they be ok to wear when it rains though as they're suede.

ParisJeTAime · 04/02/2021 08:26

I usually avoid suede due to the rain issue, but tbh, I don't normally wear trainers in the rain, so think they'd be ok if it was me buying them.

My numerous pairs of suede boots on the other hand Hmm. Why do I buy those??

Anyway, today I'm in jeggings, long sleeve tshirt and a (slightly shrunk in the wash Hmm) wool jumper. All from Uniqlo. With leather knee boots over the top (Seasalt Towpath in bitter chocolate).

No pic yet! Not sure you need one, as such a boring outfit Grin.

I'm really achey after my spin bike shenanigans yesterday! Oh dear. I'm not as fit as I used to be!

I very nearly bought those faux leather leggings from M&S ( had them in the basket) then very sensibly didn’t buy them... I’m trying to cut down on impulse buys and be a bit more planned. While I was there I saw Nobody’s Child listed like a brand so I’m none the wiser as to whether they’re a collaboration or not now. No idea what to wear today... still in running tights. ( I’m on run 3 of couch to 5k woop woop). I have new fleece lined leggings from Decathlon which were only £18 I think.... I’m pretty impressed with them for the price. Not sure what to wear today... I’m heading into central London to my office.

ParisJeTAime · 04/02/2021 10:21

Ah amazing @Divebar2021, how are you finding C25K?

OP posts:
Divebar2021 · 04/02/2021 12:22

@ParisJeTAime

C25K has been fine so far. I started out in September last year walking and going to the gym. It was tough in January though I didn’t have any motivation at all plus the weather was dreadful. I did start a running programme about 3 years ago but injured my achilles.... I think as the result of running in crappy old trainers. Back then I did the Zombie C25K which was a lot of fun.

Divebar2021 · 04/02/2021 12:27

Outfit today can be filed under “ dressed up”. I’m wearing the new Modern Rarity knitted dress ( reduced in the sale) and an extravagant Cos teddy coat which was a impulsive lockdown buy and needs wearing to justify it. The boots are genuine cowboy boots by Ariat bought in Texas 4 years ago. I’m on a train going into Waterloo wondering how much of the rain this coat is going to suck up. Confused. I’ll post pictures in a second.

ParisJeTAime · 04/02/2021 12:29

I like running, but my speed is not very good! Someone told me a good way to get faster is to do C25K again, but run faster in your run bits. I've tried it, but I find it hard. Might stick to my slow and steady approach although sometimes think I might as well be walking 😂🤦‍♀️. They say, as long as you are not walking, you are running though, so meh.

Nice @Divebar2021!

I am a bit Envy of you going into London. I have no reason to go there, so can't. I used to go a lot, as we are fairly close by, but haven't been for about a year! Didn't want to in the summer and now kicking myself for not taking the opportunity!

I alternate between cycling and my walking/ C25K and every time some guy whizzes past me I think of this picture.

I came into London a couple of weeks ago and promptly broke the heel off my new Cos boots ( reduced in the sale to £45 but besides the point). I had to go back and pick the heel up and then hobble to the bus stop. It was only the second time I wore them too. Don’t be envious it’s raining and nothing will be open apart from Pret.

100%^^

Ooooh @Divebar2021 that sounds so uncomfortable! That's a bit poor from Cos!

I think I might even miss Pret...a bit.

I'm just wearing blue jeans (Next bootcut size 15 - 16 was sold out, I didn't seek 15 out but it was there, and fits...) a dark blue T-Shirt (Tschebo L) and an oversize Hush v neck sweatshirt (xl).

I love the jeans and sweatshirt - both so soft! I've never really understood how people say they are uncomfortable in jeans, but different body shapes obviously - and the sweatshirt, also because it is almost unbelievably soft, but I do probably need to move away from oversize stuff... I think it might look better in person as my colleague told me this morning that I'm thinner every time he sees me, and declared he's decided to do intermittent fasting too...

I feel I probably ought to try running but I only walk. I'm concerned I'll damage my knees if I run regularly without losing anoth 5kg or so first - and I don't think I like running tbh where I'd be happy walking in the rain for 5 or 6 hours (possibly due to a constant fantasy of solitude - the permanent mix of guilt and irritation I feel at people expecting my attention all my waking hours both at home and at work is driving me around the twist...)

ParisJeTAime · 04/02/2021 13:15

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme yes, I know what you mean about the solitude. It's finding the time to walk for hours. I should make the kids come with me, but I know it would turn into a "mummyyyyyy carry meeeeeee" from the pair of them 😂🤦‍♀️🤪.

I used to work in London 25 years ago - I always felt a thrill walking over London Bridge (grew up in the sticks). I'm only 45 minutes out of Munich now but I rarely go there, even before covid. I was thinking I might start, but there's no particular reason to (out of town shopping centers are better) except just to sort of be there... Its a beautiful city but that's not really a reason to go unless on holiday somehow!

Will you send the boots back Divebar2021? That's really rubbish!

I'm still pondering the shoes - they're very slightly cheaper on next.de but still a lot. I'll leave them in my Next basket and think about it...

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 04/02/2021 13:24

ParisJeTAime I know what you mean. My kids are older - Teen DD often wants to come with me and then the guilt kicks in because I really want to walk alone. I also feel I have to drag the young teen and pre teen ds along if they've been indoors all day, but they won't walk more than 2 miles and spend the whole time stick fighting - having fun but it keeps me on high injury alert!

ParisJeTAime · 04/02/2021 13:25

Ah yes, any of the big bridges are really thrilling. Maybe less so when you live there though!

I used to live in Paris, (one of my favourite cities - hence the name Grin), and took a lot of it for granted! I was so young and only cared about going out to parties. If I had my time again etc etc.

OP posts:
UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 04/02/2021 13:26

At least I don't have to carry them though, that's true! Two of them are taller than me, and the little one is not that little...

@Divebar2021 I lurrrve that dress and coat combo!

I too am very jealous of your trip into London. I lived and worked there for about 20 years and although I'm a relatively short train ride away (I also commuted into London from here), I rarely go now and I love it so much. Like @ParisJeTAime in Paris (how lovely that must have been!), I took it for granted and only took any pictures when I went on the London Eye once. So a couple of years ago for a big wedding anniversary, DH and I booked a lovely hotel by the river for a couple of nights. We went up the Shard, had a posh lunch, went to the theatre and went on a soho pub crawl with my nephew who lives there. And walked and walked and walked... It was bloody brilliant. I love the views from Waterloo Bridge and London Bridge.

Exercise-wise, I used to have a 20 minute walk uphill to work which has gone for a Burton now I'm WFH but I had a bit of a lightbulb moment and have finally been dragging myself out of bed a bit earlier to go on the rowing machine which I'm really enjoying. Surprising how much you can think while you're "rowing". Yeah, it'd be nice to lose some weight but to be honest, given most of my "routine" activity has gone out of the window, I'll just be glad to maintain.

So I've returned the Violeta frock and by way of consolation the White Stuff dress arrived from John Lewis today. I love it. Not least because I ordered my usual size and a smaller size (never ordered from there before so have no idea about their sizing) and the smaller size fits better Grin

Deathraystare · 04/02/2021 17:05

Ruth what's her name from the telly's QVC orange Junper (v neck) and Lands End black trousers. Langsford, is that her name??

The trousers fit fine but the jeans I got from there don't!

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 04/02/2021 17:25

Do you have a photo of the whitestuff dress StCharlotte? I've never ordered from them either.

I'm looking at Fatface stuff on the next.de portal... Never ordered from there either although my children received stuff from FF as presents when they were tiny and the quality seemed good - is the quality still reliable?

StCharlotte · 04/02/2021 17:44

It's this one (I'm blaming @AlwaysReadyForABlether - it was her fault I was even on the John Lewis site Grin)

www.johnlewis.com/white-stuff-sophie-shift-dress-dark-navy/p5353695

I think the model must be about 17ft tall because it comes below my knees. I'm 5'5". I'm debating whether to turn up the hem because I like the length on the giant model or leave it because it actually looks fine. I keep going back on the site because there were some heavenly navy blue suede ankle boots on there but I really really can't justify them. Can I?

I don't know about Fatface nowadays but I had a gorgeous dress from there a few years back which was really nice quality. Have they been taken over by any body?

My internet keeps going on my laptop, just my laptop, why is that. So annoying esp as I'd written a long essay of a post. I copied it onto a Stickie so will try again later. I've shut it down for now. It's a MacBook Air. Grr.

Off to do some yoga in the living room, if it's free with Adriene.
