We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

I'm window shopping too as I think I need dome Bretton tops and thin cotton or jersey spring cardigans...😝

Homeschooling dc3 is driving me a bit nuts, he gets so much (14 seperate tasks today) and only stays on task if I stay in his room - today us my only day off this week and its homeschooling then lunch then online guitar with an infuriating teacher who expects me fully focussed on dc3's lesson - that's not how it works IMO! Then driving him to in person occupational therapy.

DC1 is talking at me now, with her mouth full.

I may be a bit grumpy, I miss being alone in the house occassionally, it was one of the perks of working funny shifts!

Im wearing black skinnies, dark red vest top (can't really see it), oversize hush v neck slouchy soft jumper, probably not worth a photo.

ParisJeTAime · 02/02/2021 10:36

Ugh that's a lot @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! I am homeschooling one who doesn't stay on task even if I am right fecking here! She is currently sitting playing with Duplo when her assignment is to draw a farm animal, which she persuaded me to draw for her and all she has to do is colour it in. The three year old is running round refusing to get dressed, so all in all, one of those mornings I think!

I'm about to go and lay down the law.

@ParisJeTAime

I didn’t realise Nobody’s Child was an M&S brand I thought it was a collaboration. I had a look at the dresses but found them not really to my taste ( too many prints & puffy sleeves). M&S have a collaboration with Ghost coming up which looks more of the same floaty numbers. I think Uniqlo do better collaborations but I find their sizing / fabrics a bit hit and miss too.

ParisJeTAime · 02/02/2021 10:48

Ah you're probably right! I just saw loads of their stuff on there and assumed. The jumpers I got were acrylic and polyester and they literally crackled as I put them over my head. They were also just an awful shape. I took them straight back.

I love the look of Ghost dresses, so will look forward to that collaboration!

ParisJeTAime I guess shes quite little is she?
DC3 is on aggregate states of water - which I learnt today only means liquid, solid, gas... did I never learn that at school? Video to watch then powerpoint to read then online worksheets (thecteacher can see what each child has done) then an experiment to do and write up with question, hypothesis, procedure (text plus diagram), observation, results...

Thats just for one subject, then he has maths (text book then a learning status test to be submitted digitally) and German - spelling work, grammar work, a reading comprehension and a story ending to write.

Then a video call for 45 minutes at 12:15.

He's 9 and this year's grades determine which school he's allowed to go to next year. I'm pretty sure his teacher has already written him off though, as he's dyslexic (formally diagnosed which means she's not allowed to mark him down for spelling but still does for his poor fine motor skills which mean his work isn't the neatest).

I'm not sure there's any more I can do though.

ParisJeTAime · 02/02/2021 10:49

Yeah, she's only 6. And very reluctant to do her assignments, even though they're really fun! God help me when she's on aggregate states of water!

OP posts:
UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 02/02/2021 10:51

Aggregate states of water are easy because theyre only solid, liquid and gas, I think his teacher just likes to make everything off putting!

Divebar2021 · 02/02/2021 10:59

I’m home schooling too ( year 4) and I find the whole language baffling. I spend the whole time googling and muttering “WTF are you talking about “. They make straightforward tasks very convoluted. Verbials anyone? Confused

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 02/02/2021 11:14

Divebar2021 that's exactly it! I think my youngest would be year 4 in the UK too, though my memory of primary year groups is hazy. He's 9.

Primary is only 4 years total here so he goes to secondary in September. Secondary is 9 years at grammar school, or 6 at the kind of 11-16 up to gcse type school, or 5 years at the equivalent of an old secondary modern where they do a leaving certificate. This year's grades determine which school a child is eligable for.

StCharlotte · 02/02/2021 11:27

Hats off and Flowers to everyone homeschooling. I have no children and this is one of the few times I'm glad of it.

I need your help. The Violeta dress finally arrived and I have a Schrodinger's cat of a dress. I genuinely don't know if I love it or hate it. I like it in real life but it looks awful in this picture. It emphasises my lack of waist but then again I'm not going to go round with my arms out like I'm doing the birdy song. Just a simple yay or nay to point me in the right direction of keeping or returning. I can take it! Thank you Smile

(I realise putting it with Uggs is not helping!)

Divebar2021 · 02/02/2021 16:28

@StCharlotte

Well I think it depends on your gut reaction... I think it should be “ I love it” versus “ it’s fine... it fits” which is where I am sometimes. I’ve stopped buying clothes just because I can get them on.

Divebar2021 · 02/02/2021 16:41

I went to meet a friend for “exercise” today which obviously requires a skirt. It’s such an unusual event I took the opportunity to wear something half decent. The skirt and the oversized sweatshirt are both Monki- the bag which is more orange than it appears is from Cos. I wore leggings underneath although it was 12 degrees today. The skirt was unworn before today and was one of those items I didn’t get around to returning last summer. I’m glad ive found a way to wear it that I like. In sadder news I’ve bought some tan cowboy boots from eBay and can’t get them over my calves.

I love it @StCharlotte! But, I have a weakness for a small, ditzy floral print.

I can see pros and cons to it, but on balance, I think I would keep it.

However, @Divebar2021 does make a good point - if you don't LOVE it, maybe it isn't for you.

Right. It's going back. I fear the camera doesn't lie!

Love that skirt @Divebar2021 and I like how you've styled it.

ParisJeTAime · 02/02/2021 16:44

Lovely @Divebar2021!

I’m trying to use my Stylebook app so I can see what items I wear the most... although at the moment mainly sweatpants.

I do really love the blouse in the same fabric so I've kept that and will wear it to death.

On the plus side, I still have the very enjoyable task of finding something for the wedding Grin

ignores racks of perfectly good worn once only previous wedding guest frocks

ParisJeTAime · 03/02/2021 10:50

Ah weddings can be so hard to shop for ime! Hope you find something lovely.

Here I am in:

How is everyone? It's trying to snow here so any kind of style has been replaced by comfort and warmth.
Has anyone else had their colours done? I got my report back at the weekend and I'm struggling with it a bit. Not so much the colours but the make up recommendations - not what I had expected.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 03/02/2021 14:56

My M&S faux leather high waisted leggings size 16 arrived today and they are just gorgeous. So comfy with a lovely inner lining. I can't wait to go out out again so I can wear them. They have good stretch and snap if that's even a thing, they fit well anyway and feel lovely and soft. In contrast I'm wearing my M&S PJ's today.

ParisJeTAime · 03/02/2021 14:59

Oh that's exciting re the leather look leggings @FlyingByTheSeatof! I bought a pair from Mint velvet and they sagged really quickly which annoyed me a bit, as they weren't all that cheap! Would be good to have another source for them!

OP posts:
FlyingByTheSeatof · 03/02/2021 20:09

@ParisJeTAime I forgot to say that your outfit again is very flattering. Also if anyone wants to buy the M&S faux leather leggings they are selling out fast as usual but there are some left in 16R and 18R. I think they're true to size and a welcome addition to any wardrobe when you're just thinking argh what to wear to the pub, party, wherever and pair with a shirt / blouse and smart boots, heels, trainers.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 03/02/2021 20:56

ParisJeTAime I like your blue outfit - the length of the skirt makes it just right I think.

Has anyone ever bought shoes from Mint Velvet? I really want these:
www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/Indie-Pale-Grey-Suede-Trainers/31972 - I don't own smart trainers at all, just well worn sketchers and hiking shoes in the trainer type vein. I'm seduced by the description of "butter soft" leather, but they wouldn't really be soft would they? Also I have wide feet and am worried they wouldn't fit even if I sized up (luckily I can order via Next.de and return them if necessary at least).

ParisJeTAime · 03/02/2021 21:38

Ah thanks so much you two Flowers. I wear that outfit all the time! It's v comfy. I've had compliments on the skirt irl before, so think it must look nice in person. Got it in a charity shop!

I'm in leggings and a tshirt again as just did 45 mins on my spin bike. It is harder for me than running, definitely! Properly sweating!

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme, those are lovely! I have never bought shoes from there, but have bought some clothes. I find them a bit hit and miss if I'm honest. Some things are lovely, but others not. I think you need to see things in person and check fabric details etc. I would say their stuff can be good, but not reliably so iyswim.

LordOfTheOnionRings · 03/02/2021 21:42

@ParisJeTAime the colour of that skirt is absolutely gorgeous.

Sorry about the awful quality of my photo, collision oversided long sleeved shirt from ASOS and a tiered skirt (which is great for big bellies).
