We used to have one of these and it was fab!

It was vaguely for size 18+, but I know a 5 foot size 16 is not the same as a 6 foot one, so don't think it needs to be strict.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me they'd be v welcome.

FWIW, I'm a tall size 18, apple shape.

Still in my PJs Blush. Then going out for a walk / run (stating C25K again).

@AlwaysReadyForABlether re the red dress I was watching Married at first sight Australia last night and someone was wearing that red dress in grey and it was really flattering and she looked a size 16. Episode 20 I think or thereabouts season 5.

Lots of lovely outfits yesterday and planned outfits.
I bought 4 dresses this time last year from George at Asda which I barely got to wear so although they're a bit of a tighter fit around the arms they'll be fine for this year.

I'm wearing a grey uniqlo roll neck in jersey material and a grey sweatshirt with a large silver star on it from a local boutique and my plum high shine SB leggings so I'm super comfy.

I've been really into making vegetable soups / broths with a small kick of warming chillli which is a lovely go to filling meal / snack. Because I love making bread I use the dried up ends as croutons.

There's a boutique with lovely flattering clothes for every size called 'Liberty's' based in Orpington. And you can buy via their Facebook and Instagram pages. The owner is a plus size and has amazing taste imho.

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 25/01/2021 10:51

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme I wouldn't have considered a leather skirt before as I would always think of them as being black, tight and not work appropriate. So I've surprised myself at how much I like this one. Dry cleaning isn't an issue - Although I imagine you can sponge some marks off.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 10:59

I've been reading the thread re organising clothes mentioned below and it's made me realise that's exactly what I've been doing the last few years. I've got some great items I can just grab and fling on knowing they'll be great for different occasions.

And also that's the reason I bought my SB leggings in the sale so I had quality items I could wear daily and feel good being seen in that wouldn't go all baggy and worn out.

I do need to go though my drawers of tops actually to see what I've got. The uniqlo top I'm wearing today I found in my drawer and had totally forgotten about it

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:05

I think leather skirts and denim are quite flattering. I have a beloved denim skirt which goes just above the knee which I wear in the summer on those super hot days. It has a bit of stretch in it so has been very accommodating over the years for my tummy

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:14

@AlwaysReadyForABlether I worked out my colour palette after watching something years ago and looking it up online. I'm a sort of cool spring I think where certain greens and colours I was going for anyway really suited me. I know what doesn't suit me which is something. I seem to have a lot of grey, green, blue and plum colours. I wear less black now something I used to wear a lot for a while unless it's an out out night that requires black and sparkles which hopefully we'll have again soon.

ParisJeTAime · 25/01/2021 11:15

Jesus, putting this bike together is a workout in itself!

@FlyingByTheSeatof, yes, I've been aiming for this too. I have a sort of uniform, which I am planning to tweak with the seasons. It is probably what I was doing already, but identifying the uniform has really helped me know what to wear! Takes some of the decision making out of my morning, which helps.

Well. I had a sudden rush of blood to the head today and decided I couldn't bear to wear leggings AGAIN so, even though I'm WFH, I decided to get properly dressed (as I did everyday during the first lockdown). I even did my nails yesterday which I normally do weekly but hadn't bothered for weeks.

Cardigan - M&S
Skirt - Debenhams HAS POCKETS!
Tights
Ankle boots (Simply Be maybe?)
Nails - Maybelline Rose Poudre Grin

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:20

@ParisJeTAime yes fabric and texture is really important to me. I'm surprised I'm liking the turtle neck / roll neck top today as I usually hate clothing on my neck but this is a lovely soft thinnish jersey type material that's not too tight hot or itchy which Uniqlo are very good at. I have some excellent staple items from them actually that have lasted for years mainly because I buy 4 of one top in different colours or in my case also 4 Black T-shirts exactly the same Grin

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:24

@StCharlotte that's very flattering. The cardi is a perfect length imho and fits perfectly with the skirt also a perfect length inmho. You look all set for work. Not colours that would suit me though. I'd have to go for darker shades.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:26

@ParisJeTAime I remember when I had to put my cross trainer together which I never use now but really should. The trick is to tighten the bolts very tight if you get any squeaking that irritates.

Divebar · 25/01/2021 11:27

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme

I like the jumper jeans combo... I can’t see the pink blouse very clearly so I can’t say on that. I’m not sure what the fabric is but it looks more like a summer colour to me... maybe that’s what your DH is responding to.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:41

If I can be bothered I might take a photo of all my clothes and put it in a clothes album so I can look through to see what I actually have as inspiration for what to wear once we can socialise properly. This is likely to never happen but it's a thought.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 11:46

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme I guess the Hush shirt could be more fitted, shorter and maybe darker in colour that's what your DH thinks. It's not as flattering as the jumper but fine as a lockdown comfy top which we all live at the moment

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 25/01/2021 12:00

That's a lovely outfit @StCharlotte and just the sort of thing I used to wear to the office.
I kind of feel I want to re-invent myself clothes wise. I'm much more drawn to things like wide leg trousers and flat form brogues these days. The Kin and Modern Rarity ranges in John Lewis just appeal to me so much. Maybe it's because I'm getting older and want comfort more than anything else!

Divebar · 25/01/2021 12:15

I bought these “ super soft” trousers from Monki last summer... I bought this colour and a blue. They’ve been a really comfortable alternative to leggings or joggers. I’m wearing with a cashmere sweater and am feeling nicely turned out. They were about £25 I think. Monki is a bit “ fast fashion” I know but they have worn well. They have an XL which they say is a U.K. 20 but I’m bigger in the derrière and they work for me as an 18.

@AlwaysReadyForABlether

I’ve just bought a couple of things from Modern Rarity and thought the quality was lovely. Kin is nice too but I’m realising I really do look better when you can see my waist. I’m reluctantly sending back a very cool denim shirt which is very wide and will work fantastically on someone who is not me.

ParisJeTAime · 25/01/2021 12:25

Missed your post @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme! It was at the bottom of the previous page on mu phone.

I love the shirt! Think it looks great with jeans. But it does lool oversize on you.

I've never bought anything from Monki @Divebar, but I like the look of their dresses. Good to know the quality is quite good for the price.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 13:17

@Divebar I bought the largest size for wide legged black trousers from Monki and they wouldn't go past my thighs eek Hmm

FlyingByTheSeatof · 25/01/2021 13:23

There are quite a few larger ladies on Married at first sight Australia S5 who really embrace their bodies and wear fabulous clothes and look great imho. It might not always be my style but they don't hide their bodies at all as much as I tend to.

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 25/01/2021 13:44

That's really interesting @FlyingByTheSeatof - it's not a programme I've ever watched but will hunt it out now

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 25/01/2021 14:29

It’s Burns Day here so off to collect my haggis (which I don’t even eat but the family love) in navy straight leg jeans, boden red and white brenton top, navy coat and navy red and burgundy tartan scarf.

ParisJeTAime · 25/01/2021 14:51

Ah we used to live in Scotland! Forgot it was Burns night! Hope you enjoy the festivities, even if not the haggis. I really like it myself.

OP posts:
AlwaysReadyForABlether · 25/01/2021 15:05

@Thedarknightsaredrawingin I'm in Scotland too. Won't be having haggis tonight though - prefer it in a full breakfast with a runny egg

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 25/01/2021 17:14

Happy Burns night Scottish people!

Had the day off today and have done homeschooling (yongest needs quite a lot of supervision, teens just checking on/ occassional chat or problem solved), a massive supermarket shop (not even a waffer thin mint would have fitted into the trolley) and a walk in the snow with DD.

Thanks for the feedback on the shirt - it feels lovely and silky but I guess I don't really know what size/ cut is right/ what suits me in tops atm as I'm changing shape. I do like oversize tops and skinny jeans but that's rather 80s/ last year I guess!

Fortunately or unfortunately I probably won't buy anything else from either Hush or George at Asda anyway due to the whole brexit/ customs charges thing. The German Next distribution center does Mint Velvet though I think - its either that or zolando, andvone of the two does some Jules too.

I really want some straight leg jeans - I only have slightly bsggy skinnies 🤣 and one pair of girlfriend jeans. Going to mske myself wait until Ive shed a few more cm off my waist though... would be good to try something on and hoping shops opening might coincide with needing a smaller size...

FlyingByTheSeatof I gave two uniqlo heattech turtle necks which I also love and wear to work a lot - with jeans (I wear jeans 99% of the time!)

ParisJeTAime · 25/01/2021 18:33

I also like oversize tops over jeggings Blush. I don't think it's the height of fashion, but it's comfortable without being full on slobby I think, so I do wear that look quite often.

I've seen a lot of oversize dresses around recently, so think that's still fairly current. Thank God, no bodycon! No thank you. Even when I was slim, just not for me!

Just realised I forgot the picture 🤦🏻‍♀️.
Haggis in the oven, neeps and tatties on the hob and chicken stuffed with black pudding for moi!

Hello fellow Scots, roughly where are you all? I’m in the depths of Burns country.
