Are there any perfumes you absolutely hate?

Just that really.
Reason for asking, I ordered blind ( stupid I know) a Liz Earle perfume. Even wanting to try them, no chance of testing at the moment, so picked one that loads of reviews said was gorgeous, favourite perfume, ever, signature scent, always getting stopped & asked what it was etc. The description sounded ok. It came & I hate it, it actually makes me feel sick when I smell it, couldn’t wait to scrub it off. It’s so persistent though!

J'adore Dior

Polkadotties · 15/12/2020 23:14

Alien. There’s loads of adverts on the tv for it at the moment

NuniaBeeswax · 15/12/2020 23:15

"Actually, I just googled (should have done this before really). It was Ghost Deep Night. Absolutely minging."

Blasphemy!

There's one of the Creed perfumes that smells like a Magic Tree.

emilybrontescorsett · 15/12/2020 23:19

I agree with Joop for men.
Ailien
Poison
Lou Lou
Colours by Beneton.

I do like Youth Dew though.

DieCryHate · 15/12/2020 23:19

Kenzo Amor. Smelled lovely in the shop but when I got home it seemed to smell exactly like my sally Hansen nail polish remover for weak nails.

SunshineYello · 15/12/2020 23:19

Clinique Aromatics - my year head seemed to bathe in it; always dreaded being sent to her office. Gives me a headache; way too heavy.
Shalimar - too pungent
Chanel no 5 - too strong; like vodka doused pot pourri.
Angel and Alien - smell cheap and sickly.
I wonder if there is a common theme, as many people have mentioned Clinique and mugler as well as no.5; we may all share the same favourity. It might be a genetic mutation, like people (weirdos) who hate coriander...

Buzzthedragon · 15/12/2020 23:19

A few of the madly expensive Tauer ones edge towards magic tree / Joop too, sadly.

AliceMcK · 15/12/2020 23:23

Dune. Absolutely hate it, an ex bought it for me once I felt sick with it.

Joop too, that has made me physically sick. I once worked with a guy that wore it all the time. He was really lovely and started checking the rota to see when we were working together and wore something else when we were.

VicMackey · 15/12/2020 23:24

Elizabeth Arden - “‘Red Door’ deserves a special mention. Hopefully now discontinued. Truly horrible

Haha😂 get that with the coriander - gave my sis my salsa recipe tonight - oh no coriander she said she can’t use it. Ruin the salsa without that. Coriander is the best herb ever
Lollypop701 · 15/12/2020 23:33

I love alien ... quite like jasmine scents. Don’t like aromatics .

samandpoppysmummy · 15/12/2020 23:40

Angel. It makes me feel sick and gives me a headache.

sanitygirl · 15/12/2020 23:44

Alien - screechy, harsh, overly strong - I recoil from anyone wearing it - just hate it!

JudyGemstone · 15/12/2020 23:46

Chanel no 5 and Chance - not for me.

Also Miss Dior, the one with the bow on the bottle that smells of popcorn. Horribly sweet and sickly.
I love J'adore though.

CopperheadRoad · 15/12/2020 23:47

Kenzo Flowers. Absolutely vile and disgusting, feels like it gets right up my nose into the front of my skull causing an
instant migraine. It actually induces rage that’s how much I hate it.

Jobseeker19 · 15/12/2020 23:50

Chanel no5

Jobseeker19 · 15/12/2020 23:51

Armani red jeans

Jobseeker19 · 15/12/2020 23:52

Gosh I mean versace Blush

ILoveYourLittleHat · 15/12/2020 23:55

Anyone said CK Be? I hated that. I think Ghost is similar and I can't stand it either. Got a bottle for my birthday once...
Is there a word to describe that kind of smell? It's really odd. Like stale.

Don't think I've ever smelt Angel or Alien before but I'm tempted now?!

Hidehi4 · 15/12/2020 23:57

Creed makes me sick, I don’t know why anyone would want to pay nearly £200 a bottle to smell like that. Can anyone remember the perfume mango adorably that was the best perfume growing up

feelingverylazytoday · 15/12/2020 23:58

Obsession, Joop, and Opium (blast from the past there).

choirmumoftwo · 16/12/2020 00:00

I bought some Issey Miyake at the airport having loved the smell. However, I was 5 weeks pregnant and morning sickness started while I was on holiday. Consequently I cannot bear the smell now and instantly feel nauseous. That was 22 years ago!!!

Babyyodasmacarons · 16/12/2020 00:01

Chanel no. 5, I think it’s my body chemistry, I want to live it but it just smells strong, old and offensive on me Blush

Christmashottubintheshed · 16/12/2020 00:04

I had Alien for Christmas once and think I quite liked it but I also dislike Angel.
Guerlain, the pink one, just heavy and yuck
Opium (my mum wears it and I like her but hate the smell)
CKOne (no idea why it’s so popular, it’s just nothingy)
Kenzo Flower

Christmashottubintheshed · 16/12/2020 00:05

I like most of the Ghost perfumes though.
