@MiaN a bag of donations for a local charity shop , I try and recycle/ regift rather than put something in the bin .

KatharinaRosalie · 03/12/2020 09:48

Aveda on dry hair - tried and it's great, smooths all flyaways but doesn't leave hair greasy

gower4 · 03/12/2020 11:48

I like the venn product - I have combination skin and get shiny very easily, but this seems like the right balance for me.

I think Liberty calendar is always underwhelming in the early days.

Without giving spoilers, I actually buy it in order to get several products that I use in any case, plus the more exciting gifts later on (again, things I use). Sorry if that's a bit depressing!!

westr · 03/12/2020 12:05

This toner was in the autumn Liberty gwp

Stokey · 03/12/2020 12:32

Pretty meh about the toner. I've just put it in the bathroom cupboard next to a full bottle of Pixi rose toner from last year Hmm. How are they going to get up to £700 with £3 items?

I used the hair stuff this morning and it's made my aging dyed hair feel quite soft so that's a bonus.

Used the Venn again too, it felt quite heavy initially but now feels fine.

Luvacuppatea · 03/12/2020 12:40

Ok, I’m going to have to eat my words. I’ve previously said that I wasn’t keen on the Aveda stuff from day 1. I’d put it on my dry hair and it didn’t appear to do anything at all. Now I’ve just washed my hair and put a good dollop of this on instead of conditioner and it looks / feels lovely 😊. Soft hair without the flyaway bits I’m often left with after I’ve blow-dried and styled. Hair staying in place beautifully too. Ummm, I might just be repurchasing this.........

mynameiscalypso · 03/12/2020 12:58

I think I might be repurchasing there Aveda too. Really liked it - more than the damage repair one that was in last years M&S calendar (I think?)

Orcadianrythyms · 03/12/2020 17:04

How much did you use @Luvacuppatea? I think it would be a single serve on my mid length thick hair?

Luvacuppatea · 03/12/2020 17:34

@Orcadianrythyms - I have shortish very fine hair and would guess that I used around a 5th of the tube, maybe a bit more. I don’t tend to use a lot of conditioner generally as some brands can make my hair feel ‘flat’, so the quantity of this stuff I put on was a lot for me haha. I would think you should get a couple of uses out of it though, enough to see whether it’s worth a repurchase.......

AsPerMyLastEmail · 03/12/2020 18:04

What was today’s? I bought my Liberty AC to open and use in Oct so have taken out many of the products.

The Venn - what do I do with it please? I wasn’t sure how to use this so haven’t.

LondonlovesLola · 03/12/2020 18:16

Stokey: How are they going to get up to £700 with £3 items?

I was wondering how much each item was worth. Are the products in each window really worth £29 each? Or is there a high value item hidden in there?

LondonlovesLola · 03/12/2020 18:17

...or a couple of high value and several low value items?

checkedcloth · 03/12/2020 18:57

Disappointed with the toner - really wouldn’t recommend Witch Hazel on any skin. It’s hardly a luxe product

LeonieLime · 03/12/2020 18:58

Ah it's the annual whinging about a lovely high end advent calendar thread! Grin I tune in every year to see what you're all moaning about this time around - despite the fact that the contents are all readily available to peruse prior to buying if you're prone to disappointments

I have the liberty and the cult beauty. I know what I've bought so I'm never in need of a whinge about it

And no, they don't portion out each item to be £29 (or whatever) but rest assured, it will have a value of £700 odd as stated. Retail laws dictate this

Cocopogo · 03/12/2020 18:58

I wasn’t impressed with the Aveda as I get similar in m&s cheap one but i’ve washed my hair today and it looks so shiny.
The venn stings a little when I put it on but otherwise seems good.
The toner I will use, I have the pixie toners from m&s one. But what does it mean use cotton wool until clean. Why would my face be dirty? It’s not a cleanser!

Cocopogo · 03/12/2020 18:59

@LeonieLime I didn’t read the back because I didn’t want to spoil it so no idea what’s in it!

AsPerMyLastEmail · 03/12/2020 19:03

If someone could tell me how and when to use the Venn I’d be most obliged...

LeonieLime · 03/12/2020 19:10

It literally says on it how to use the Venn? Morning and evening. As to how - apply to face.

It's a serum concentrate

Orcadianrythyms · 03/12/2020 19:18

I sort of thought this forum was for discussing our opinions on the products but thanks for your contribution @LeonieLimeHmm

AsPerMyLastEmail · 03/12/2020 19:22

Thanks @LeonieLime and there I was about to apply to it my arse, which is probably more pretty than your attitude.

I meant at what stage in the routine, is it a replacement for moisturiser etc. I don’t have it to hand and opened it months ago so can’t remember.

ajandjjmum · 03/12/2020 19:28

I liked the idea someone had of keeping the Venn for a weekend away - whenever that might happen - so that you're taking less 'stuff'.

Got better things to do with my time @LeonieLime than hunt down and follow threads, just to be unpleasant to others. Still, if it gives you something to do every year........

AsPerMyLastEmail · 03/12/2020 19:34

Ah actually @ajandjjmum you w reminded me that’s exactly what I decided to do with the Venn, which is why it’s tucked away in a box. I already gave several products on the go so was wondering how to incorporate that into my regime and decided it to save it for going away.

AsPerMyLastEmail · 03/12/2020 19:41

I’ve just been reading up about Venn as a company. I didn’t know it was K-beauty. That’s a huge plus in its favour for me.

AsPerMyLastEmail · 03/12/2020 19:43

As for the toner yesterday, I normally don’t use toner as it can be too harsh on my sensitive skin and I don’t really understand the need for toner or what is does. But this one looks good and v suitable for sensitive skin.

gower4 · 03/12/2020 19:50

In answer to the non-arsey posters, some of the later products are v expensive - around £60 each. They easily hit £700 overall. How dare anyone ask questions though GrinGrinConfused
