Look Fantastic Advent Calendar Opening Thread 2020

Hello Look Fantastic calendar openers! Post as you open each day and we'll discuss our thoughts. No spoilers please.
As said on other calendar opening threads, think it is fair to say you can post about the current day from 7am so people know to avoid the thread after that time if they haven’t opened yet.

Ok, I've opened day 1 and am slightly puzzled because the item didn't require that wide shallow drawer, so I'm wondering if it's been put in the wrong drawer... interested to see if others get the same!

FlipperSkipper · 01/12/2020 07:31

Hi Butterymuffin, I thought the same! Small item, ND? Looks nice though.

Butterymuffin · 01/12/2020 07:48

Yes! It's a nice item, I just found it odd because of the drawer shape. But that's cool. I haven't watched any videos or looked at the contents as I wanted to be surprised. Got DH to scope out this and Glossybox for me and he said this one Smile

Thank you so much for creating this thread specifically for the Look Fantastic Advent!
I have bought it for my daughter-in-law so will be following with interest. Smile

BurningTheToast · 01/12/2020 08:16

Me three on the "that was a drawer that promised more than that very small item..." front.

Are we allowed to mention what it is? I'm not someone who wears that sort of thing generally so interested in other people's feelings about it.

Chrysanthemum5 · 01/12/2020 08:28

DD and I are sharing this and an H&B one. I was expecting something like a mascara in the box given its shape.

I think anytime after 7am is fine for discussing contents

Butterymuffin · 01/12/2020 08:38

Yes, it's fine to discuss content. I was just wary to start with in case mine did have the wrong item in the drawer and then I ended up spoiling a later day for everyone else!

I use highlighter but not really blusher, though I might give it a go to change things up in 2021. Not tried anything from Natasha Denone but people seem keen on the palettes being mentioned on the previous calendar thread.

OP posts:
LarsErickssong · 01/12/2020 09:07

I've never had anything from Natasha Danone either, I usually go for a lighter highlighter than the one in the palette but the blusher is the perfect colour for me. I don't usually wear blusher (mainly because I can't be bothered paying for it) so it will be a nice change to wear it.

clary · 01/12/2020 09:23

This isn't something I wear at all, but it looks like a nice product -is this full size? if so I might regift it to someon who would wear it (don't want to look cheap by regifting samples!!!) 😂😂

foilflower · 01/12/2020 09:33

I’m pleased with this, I’ve never tried this brand before. I rarely wear makeup nowadays but it looks pretty and I usually make a resolution to do so at this time of year so I will try it!

Popcornismandatory · 01/12/2020 09:59

Glad to have found this thread and thank goodness it's not just me who did the Confused when I saw such a small item on that large drawer! Never heard of that brand but looks nice though.

cathyandclare · 01/12/2020 10:08

Also following as I bought 2 of these for my adult DDs.

Writersblock2 · 01/12/2020 10:18

This is a fab first day item. Really pleased.

AllTheDogsIveLovedBefore · 01/12/2020 11:46

Very happy with this. I love the brand....I was worried the drawer was empty when I opened it as the item had slipped right to the back with the tiniest piece of pink paper ever.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 01/12/2020 11:57

Joining you all, although I'm sad to see (from another thread) that others never received their calendars. Boo hiss @ LookFantastic Envy

I don't wear highlighter, but will give it a try.

HedgieHog · 01/12/2020 12:08

Happy so far, not sure why number 1 was a gold box!

SomethingAboutNothing · 01/12/2020 12:19

I'm happy with it too, used it today and it went on nicely. Haven't heard of the brand before but no complaints so far! Agree the box was unnecessary large though!

Hellofayearsofar · 01/12/2020 14:13

I really enjoyed the cards from last year saying what each item was and how to use it. Looks as though they're not including them this year.
Small item for large box!
The box is such a good quality. I saved my one from last year and gave it to DH with Biltong in every box Wink

Hellofayearsofar · 01/12/2020 14:22

Also, what a shame it doesn't come with a brush. Doesn't make it very travel friendly. But very pleased with the quality

AliceinBunniland · 01/12/2020 15:07

Hmm I'm on the fence about today's item.

Pros

  • haven't tried Natasha Denona before and it is a high end brand
  • I love blusher
  • make up e tend to excite me in a calendar

Cons

  • The colour doesn't look like a universally flattering one. Seems to be aimed at fair skin tones to me so not sure whether to try it or just pass it on.

Pretty sure it is not full size @clary

AsPerMyLastEmail · 01/12/2020 15:20

Hello, been looking forward to the LF calendar and this thread.

I also was expecting a longer item given the size of the box and was Hmm at the item being in the back corner with a crumpled up piece of pink paper. Looked like not a lot of thought or care went even, especially as there was no description card which I always love.

But the product is fantastic! I’m v happy as it’s my colours. I have the exact same combo type from an AC last year but in darker colours that don’t suit me, so I’ve never opened it. I opened the packaging of this one and it’s lovely, with a great size mirror.

foilflower · 01/12/2020 16:42

I tried it today and really like it, the colour really suits me. I even used the highlighter which I never wear - I prefer this powder version to the usual liquid ones. The packaging is lovely too.

I don’t think LF has ever had description cards.

AsPerMyLastEmail · 01/12/2020 18:37

Look Fantastic used to have description cards, I believe this year is the first year they haven’t. I’ve had a LF calendar for the past 4 years.

foilflower · 01/12/2020 18:56

I had it a few years back and it didn’t have any then, I think they posted information about the products on the website each day.

I know the more expensive calendars had them.

foilflower · 01/12/2020 19:00

I still have the calendar from that year on display as it was so beautiful (and it has four large drawers so is very useful!). This year’s will go straight for recycling!
