Look Fantastic Advent Calendar Opening Thread 2020

Hello Look Fantastic calendar openers! Post as you open each day and we'll discuss our thoughts. No spoilers please.
As said on other calendar opening threads, think it is fair to say you can post about the current day from 7am so people know to avoid the thread after that time if they haven’t opened yet.

It’s possible I’ve forgotten the cards but I’m pretty sure I remember checking the site each day (I think they had videos?).

Was about to suggest the same to foil. Go to 2:59 minutes into the video to see the cards with your own eyes.

Yet you still decided, after two posters (me and someone before me) said they missed the cards, to argue that LF never had any. Did it not occur to you that maybe there were cards last year when you didn’t have it? Grin

I didn’t see the poster before and thought you were saying you liked the cards in beauty calendars in general.

I said earlier that I last had it a few years ago (within the 4 year range you mentioned).

I was pleasantly surprised by the pink paper which was a nice touch compared to the usual but maybe I’m easily pleased.

I haven’t tried this yet but love the colours - this has been included in another pricier AC too from recollection. I quite like the size of it - I have so much makeup that I rarely finish things so am happy to have a smaller sized product that I might actually hit pan on!

Not something I wear or even have a clue how to apply. Might put it in with sds presents as I think she would use it.

I was pleased with it as the colours look nice and I don't have anything by this brand. The drawer looked more brush shaped!

I'm not so excited by today's but someone did say we could do with a brush to go with yesterday's item! It's perfectly nice, just not what I really want. I'll try to use it with the highlighter though.

I'm VERY happy with today's, I've been using a crappy brush for highlighter for a while after I lost my old one and bought a cheap one from Superdrug to replace it. Due to lockdown I hadn't bothered looking for a better one yet so happy to have one now.

I did notice that it is almost squashed into the drawer when they could have just used yesterday's drawer

Yes I agree alice mine was a bit wonky because the drawer was too small!

Today's is okay... From the point of view of someone who doesn't wear much make up (I live in the country and I work from home even when there's not a pandemic!) this AC hasn't exactly started with a bang. But I did skim the contents way back before I ordered and I know there are better things ahead.

burning As someone who does get excited about make up, I recall this calendar was one of the better ones for make up items but there are definitely some good skincare items too. There is one in particular which was part of my reason for buying the calendar as I love the brand.

I wondered if originally the brush was supposed to be day 1 and blush duo day 2 but then someone pointed out a brush was a crap day 1 so they switched them once the boxes had been designed and ordered?

This brush will work well with yesterday’s blusher and seems good quality. I’m glad it doesn’t have that nasty black rubbery coating that many brushes have (looking at you Real Techniques) and which goes horribly sticky with time. I have plenty of brushes but should actually wash and rotate them more often so this will come in handy.

I tried out the blush/highlighter today and love it! Will be a makeup bag staple for the coming months.

A distinct possibility! I had to hunt for yesterday’s as it was hiding right at the back of the massive drawer!

As I recall, there were a couple of items that meant the box was well worth it for me so the rest is kind of a bonus. Do we have a swap thread? I might offer the highlighter/blusher in case anyone wants to try it.

This seems very plausible to me. A brush isn't very 'Day 1' in my book!

@BurningTheToast I do think we need a dedicated swap thread. The earlier suggestion was to put swaps on the general calendar thread but I agree with whoever said they risk getting lost then. I will check if anyone's started a thread though.

Mine too!

Bit late to the party. Day 1 was ok as it's a nice brand so good to try. Today's was anticlimactic but nice and I will use it.
