Look Fantastic Advent Calendar Opening Thread 2020

Hello Look Fantastic calendar openers! Post as you open each day and we'll discuss our thoughts. No spoilers please.
As said on other calendar opening threads, think it is fair to say you can post about the current day from 7am so people know to avoid the thread after that time if they haven’t opened yet.

Sorry to sound a bit stupid but how do you get the dragon blood toner out? I find the pump thing confusing. Do I tilt it upside down and pump it straight onto a cleaning pad? When I do that, not much comes out. Blush

Directionerforever · 07/12/2020 22:27

I just put a cotton pad over the top and pressed the pump down a few times. So leaving the bottle in the upright position,

LarsErickssong · 08/12/2020 07:07

It took me a while to work it out too I initially took the round plastic thing off, then realised when I put it back on that it works by pushing it down. So just grab a cotton ball pad and push down on the plastic bit.
@Rocket1982 I've been using it for a few days and can't see much difference yet, and like you I'm normally just a moisturiser person (and some serum if I remember) that's why I went for LF as I'm more into make up but want to improve my skincare regime too.
Sadly as expected the toner from yesterday has really irritated my skin Sad

Butterymuffin · 08/12/2020 07:53

Pleased with today's as while lots of people talk about how nice it is, I've never tried it! May have to move it up my long list of cleansers.

LarsErickssong · 08/12/2020 09:02

Yes I'm pleased too, as I said I'm trying to improve my skin care regime so it's nice to be able give a few different types of things a try and compare today's cleanser to the dragons blood one for example.

AliceinBunniland · 08/12/2020 09:40

I'm not sure about today's. I will try it. I have a vague memory of having tried this before and not liking it but I will give it a go. Probably a good one for a make up day.

HedgieHog · 08/12/2020 10:40

Oh no, I’ve been away a few days and opened two last night to catch up, just realised I’ve opened tomorrow’s today 🙈 wondered why you were talking about something different for today, thought I’d missed out!!
I’ll keep it 🤐

Oliack1417 · 08/12/2020 10:49

I often use Emma Hardie Moringa Balm, so will be interested to see how the Eve Lom cleanser differs. It's a small pot, but should last ages as you use so little.

chloechloe · 08/12/2020 11:05

I was hoping for a cleanser but am disappointed with this. I’ve never understood the hype about Eve Lom - it’s ridiculously expensive for a petroleum based product. I’ll use it though once I’ve eventually run out of other cleansers.

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 08/12/2020 15:42

I haven’t used it yet but it certainly smells like it means business.

I’ve been thrilled with all the bits so far, but I am quite easily pleased. Not sure if the first day’s contourer is going to get used as I don’t know how to do it, but have used the blusher (including as eye shadow at the outer corners). Have been using more pink on my face generally as in the last year (I’m 45) my face has lost a bit of colour somehow. Maybe got less sun this summer .

AsPerMyLastEmail · 08/12/2020 16:45

The Eve Lom is my first disappointment so far. A really old product that often turns up in beauty boxes & ACs. I’ve had so many of these over the years. It’s an alright product but I don’t particularly like it. I much prefer the Emma Hardie morning balm that Oliack mentioned.

Popcornismandatory · 08/12/2020 17:48

Re the Eve Lom cleanser - how to use it when I don't have a Muslin Cloth (or will there be one in a later box)
Would a damp flannel do the job?

Housewife2010 · 08/12/2020 18:31

Did you all receive your LF advent calendars eventually? I have just been informed by LF that the replacement for my £41 Natasha Denona palette is no longer available ( it's on their website) so they are giving me £2.50 account credit! They have the worst customer service I have ever known.

SomethingAboutNothing · 08/12/2020 18:37

Today's is a bit of a miss for me, mo good for my oily skin.

Oliack1417 · 08/12/2020 22:12

Hmm I didn't really like the Eve Lom. The smell was off putting, I think I'll stick with the Emma Hardie.

BurningTheToast · 08/12/2020 23:38

Absolutely. I never faff around with muslin cloths - just get in there with a fairly hot flannel.

I'm quite pleased with the Eve Lom (much prefer the Emma Hardie) and will chuck in the bag for weekends away, but as @AsPerMyLastEmail said, it's in so many beauty boxes and the like that I've lost interest in it. Certainly, there are so many kicking around my cupboard that I never need buy it. It would be nice if they rang the changes with this brand.

Butterymuffin · 09/12/2020 07:42

Sigh. We knew this day was coming...

Nice brand from what I've seen other people say. Just not something I use. I'm not good with it!

Popcornismandatory · 09/12/2020 07:44

Lol I thought exactly the same just now so I'll probably give it to my DD who actually knows how to apply this stuff Smile

LarsErickssong · 09/12/2020 08:15

Yes when I opened it I thought well at least it's over and done with none Grin

ferretface · 09/12/2020 09:01

I was hoping it was liquid but no ... I can't really get on with pencils most of the time, too scratchy. The only ones I like are from Kiko and urban decay. Maybe this one will surprise me?

AsPerMyLastEmail · 09/12/2020 09:05

I was very happy to receive today’s - exactly what I currently need! I’m so pleased it’s not liquid as I can’t use those. I haven’t had an eye pencil in a beauty box or AC for years... perhaps never? So a big welcome surprise. I can see I’m in the minority though Grin

LarsErickssong · 09/12/2020 09:09

I'm the same I use liquid eye liner so would have been happy if it was liquid, although I've just ordered a new Too faced one so I didn't really need another liquid one anyway!
AliceinBunniland · 09/12/2020 09:23

I just opened tomorrow by accident and then realised from your comments that we were not talking about the same thing...

Today's is okay but if it's a black eyeliner it could have been from a more luxe / exciting brand to try. This is not a brand I have ever bought anything from but I have had a few things in calendars or beauty boxes

I will probably use it though

SomethingAboutNothing · 09/12/2020 09:34

I have the exact same eyeliner sat on my dressing table barely used so doubt I'll ever get round to using this one. Hope there is something good in tomorrow's!

MissMatty2hats · 09/12/2020 09:36

I've got something different in mine. I shan't say what it is but I am quite happy with it. This calendar seems to be all over the place for everyone. Half the fun is following along on this thread and seeing what others think. I miss the M&S one, no empty boxes, no mixed up days, no endless wrangles with customer services. I hope it's back next year.
