How often do you brush your hair in a day?

I have long hair (down to my lower back) and yesterday I realised that until going to bed last night, I had only brushed it once, while getting dressed (I WFH) in the morning. Hair of course gets dirty, like everything else, and I usually brush it a few times a day (mostly when I go for a pee) as that also makes it more presentable if I need to pop out.

So that got me wondering what others do - how often do you brush your hair? And is it long or short?

Never, too many curls, a brush just makes it worse

Multiple times. I don't like the feeling of tangles. Definitely before I go out and when I come in again. I carry a brush with me or at least a comb if I'm out all day. I've straightish hair. Can go frizzy but that is only the new hair growth after chemo (just ends now), the newest growth is silky straight. The frizzy section is wiry frizz, no proper curl.

Morning, before bed and if I'm going out in between. I have shoulder blade long hair with a lot of layering and natural kink which tangles easily. It's shiny and swishy with a good brush, and easily the nicest looking bit of me so I like to take care of it.

Mine is below boob length. I don't brush it! I do absent mindedly comb through it with my fingers, but if I brush it, it goes Crystal Tips.

dementedma · 21/11/2020 21:02

Never. It’s short and thick. I don’t own a hairbrush..or a hairdryer..or any other hair things.

runningthrougharedlight · 21/11/2020 21:05

Waist length, once in the morning.

TheCanyon · 21/11/2020 21:08

I only brush mine after a bath, my hair goes all fluffy if I brush it when it's dry.

Flaunch · 21/11/2020 21:08

I only brush mine while blow drying it so probably 3 times a week. It doesn’t get knotty, I don’t think I’ve had a knot in my hair ever!

Labobo · 21/11/2020 21:10

2-3 times. Once in the morning and once before any work zoom calls.

iftherewereahorseyinthehouse · 21/11/2020 21:17

I brush mine about twice a week!

PinkSkyBlue · 21/11/2020 21:18

Hair down to my hips, very straight and brush it once a day.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 21/11/2020 21:20

Mine's curly. I never brush it.

Untangled87 · 21/11/2020 21:33

I brush mine lots. Every time I wash it, and dry it, and straighten it. Which is every evening pretty much. Then I'll give it another quick going over with the straighteners in the morning, and brush it to style it (it's long and straight and I wear it loose, but I put some hair grips in to keep it away from my face). Then I'll brush it quite a few times during the day, because it gets very messy.

This is just if I'm going out somewhere BTW, if I'm just sitting at home all day I'll leave it alone.

I don't have 'normal' hair though. It's a weird, coarse texture. It's very thick and unruly. If I just leapt out of the shower, put my fingers through my hair and walked out the door it would a) take about six hours to dry and b) literally look like a hedge.

indemMUND · 21/11/2020 22:01

Brush through after I wash, condition and dry it every morning. Tie it back until I let it down to leave the house and brush again. Brush again when I get back in and plait it. Brush it out to leave the house again. Brush it when I get back in, tie it back. Brush once more before bed and plait it. Waist length. So 6 times. Can't be doing with how knotty it can get.

LubaLuca · 21/11/2020 22:03

Twice - first thing and last thing.

firstimemamma · 21/11/2020 22:06

Twice. Morning and evening. Long and thick hair.

Todaytomorrow09 · 21/11/2020 22:06

I only brush my hair when I wash it..I have thick curly long (lockdown) hair...if I brushed it I’d look like a reject from the 80’s with no need of hairspray

Jankwrs1 · 21/11/2020 22:17

Generally I brush mine once when I wake up/before I shower. Brush it when I style it so every third day. If people don't brush their hair during the day do they comb it more?

Respectabitch · 21/11/2020 22:19

I have a pixie. I don't own a brush. Or a comb.

doadeer · 21/11/2020 22:22

Mine is really long, wait length. Only when I wash it, often curl or straighten then either wear down with a bun or in a ponytail. Hardly ever between washes really

SpeckledyHen · 22/11/2020 05:57

I washed and styled it every morning and brushed it again at lunchtime when I was working .
Now washed and styled every morning and only brushed again if I leave the house or know that I am expecting visitors.

Lippy applied at the same times .

joystir59 · 22/11/2020 06:03

I have short wavy hair and don't own a brush or comb. I wash my hair once a week on average, or when it's full of sea salt and sand.

Athrawes · 22/11/2020 06:06

Once a month maybe.
I wash it most days.

WunWun · 22/11/2020 06:18

I have chin length wavy hair and never brush it.

FenellaMaxwell · 22/11/2020 06:39

Never. It’s combed at the hairdresser. Apart from that I just comb it through with my fingers when conditioning it. DS, and DH are the same - I’m pretty sure there’s not even a brush in our house. We do all have curly hair though.
