Bit of morning bling to distract you all from the US election

Beautiful!

Balloondog · 04/11/2020 07:14

Stunning - emeralds are my favourite! (In theory Smile I don't actually possess any real ones!) And a lovely distraction this morning .

That's a really interesting article, thank you, MotherofPearl. Some excellent points, although I would disagree about her hair. On her wedding day she kept her simple, understated style. I was surprised, in view of the dress and the occasion. It didn't get the lacquer and the frosted highlights until later.

I do love a blingy tiara!

SeaRabbit · 04/11/2020 08:28

I saw Diana's dress (well the exact copy by the Emmanuels that went on tour, along with their wedding gifts).

I thought the material IRL was rather flat - I was expecting it to have a silky glow but frankly it looked like viscose.

This disappoints me very much. All my imaginings of crinkly high quality silk ruined. The only really good thing about the dress!
ajandjjmum · 04/11/2020 11:01

I was early 20's when they married, and watched with three friends. There was a collective gasp as she stepped out of the carriage, as the dress seemed so creased. Her hair also seemed incredibly flat - like mine on a bad day!

I think she really grew in confidence over the years, and was one of the most attractive and charismatic women on the planet - but at her wedding she looked what she was at the time - a 19 year old, with a lot of growing up to do.

frugalkitty · 04/11/2020 11:20

I remember reading years ago that Diana was disappointed with her hair on her wedding day, but I can't remember why....the Spencer tiara remains my favourite though, it's just stunning.

If it was a replica it may have been made out of a cheaper material.

LadyEloise · 04/11/2020 15:10

JaJaDingDong you say if it was a replica it may have been made out of cheaper materials.
I agree.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 04/11/2020 17:17

Thanks for the article & Tiara photo.

Reading about Diana's use of fashion to appeal to/win people over. That reminds me of Kate with her literal dressing, also Kate's degree is in History of Art so she will understand how powerful a creative vision can be & applies that to her official role.

Oh my days that Diamond & Emerald Tiara, I can see us all fighting over it.

MadameMiggeldy · 04/11/2020 18:18

@JaJaDingDong

DING DONG!!!!! 😂

Sorry.

MaudTheInvincible · 05/11/2020 13:05

Goodness, please let there be some diamond encrusted frippery soon. I need distracting!

Best I have to offer today is this, Camilla looking quite nice in green: www.instagram.com/p/CHNMTjsADcV/?igshid=15q9to48hspfn

That colour suits her.

Just saw this over on IG, Sarah F has posted a previously unseen photo of Bea's wedding day.

I won't join the scrap for the emerald tiara, beautiful though it is.....but the Spencer tiara is mine, all mine! Grin

Ahh beautiful photo.
Bea & Edo's wedding looked so lovely old fashionedly romantic
Like in a fairytale where the girl gets her Prince, though in this case it was the guy who got his Princess Smile

Horsemad · 05/11/2020 18:05

That is a sweet photo. 🙂

Thoughts about Mary's outfit here? I quite like the jacket but I think polonecks are a brave choice.

Maireas · 06/11/2020 05:17

I'm looking at Mary's feet and wondering how she walks on cobbles on spiky heels and with her toes squeezed like that. Ouch.
The jacket is quite nice, not sure about the rest. Mary always looks lovely and smiley.

I love Mary's outfit! I think she looks very chic.

FionaMacCool · 06/11/2020 09:24

Is that a Zara polo neck?
She always looks trés chic.

AppleKatie · 06/11/2020 11:53

Mary looks great! I really like the outfit.

Agree about the shoe pain though- definitely ouch!
