Show me what you wear to be warm and cosy when WFH

I'm sitting in my home office with the heating on but am still quite chilly. I'd love to be snuggled up in some sort of mega fluffy fleece coat. I have plenty of warm fleeces but when I sit down they ride up at the back and my lower back gets cold. I have a Bench fleece that goes down to mid thigh but it's not very thick.

Has anyone come across something really warm and comfy that covers your lower back/bottom, that you can put on top of a jumper when WFH with no video calls?

Poncho

travailtotravel · 12/10/2020 20:28

Layers. Poncho. Blanket on legs. Always socks. Fingers are the worst so fingerless gloves. Gonna ask for turtle doves for Christmas!

fiorentina · 12/10/2020 20:28

I wear usual clothes with a thermal long sleeved top underneath.
So blouses, shirts, tops with maybe a cardigan or a smart jumper but I don’t want to wear big fleeces or hoodies etc as I have video calls all day. I do have sheepskin slippers to keep my feet toasty too.

Just got a big Borg cardigan from JD Williams which is amazing - not quite a dressing gown, but as snuggly as one and looks ok over loungewear

I am tempted by an oodie as well though

Lurkalot · 12/10/2020 20:32

Today I wore jeans with a long sleeved cotton T, zip up soft shell, lined slippers, a down gilet, and a snood, and I had a hot water bottle on my knees.

christinarossetti19 · 12/10/2020 20:33

Keeping wrists and ankles warm is key, so fingerless gloves and warm socks. Homies slippers. Uniqlo's Heatech for layering. Hot water bottle, including an extra one for feet if really chilly. Hat if not on video calls. Large fleece blanket for overall coverage.

Have a few long length cardis from yonks back that I get out for video calls.

Sleeveless v chunky knit longline mid-thigh cardigan

Cashmere mid-length dressing gown from the white company

Thick fluffy socks

Whathappenedtothelego · 12/10/2020 20:56

You need a long vest to cover your back. I get them from H&M.

Then long socks so no cold air round the ankles, sheepskin or felted wool slippers, and having a warm blanket over your knees. Scarf round your neck.

fitflopqueen · 12/10/2020 21:02

I have been using a poncho this week, it has a thick rollback and has been just right over sweatshirt & vest top. Have fluffy socks and dog under desk for my toes.

And heat a large house just to warm up the home office

You can’t turn your radiators off? If your heating is on it has to be the whole house. ?

Lalalatte · 12/10/2020 21:09

I also have a chunky knit sleeveless long cardigan thing. From zara

Titsywoo · 12/10/2020 21:11

Heat holders socks

FamBae · 12/10/2020 21:12

I'm usually ok as long as my feet are warm so good bootee slippers for me, I ruined my dear old Uggs in the garden Sad but Seasalt do some lovely bootie slippers for £35, and my poncho lives on the back of my desk chair.

Dinosforall · 12/10/2020 21:14

We tried this when we moved to a house that was too big for us (at the time) and it created all kinds of weird bottlenecks in the heating system that caused loud banging from the pipes.
dun1urkin · 12/10/2020 21:15

I’ve got fingerless gloves and, after DH pointed out how much we were saving in petrol, have upped the temp on the thermostat during the day.

whattodo2019 · 12/10/2020 21:17

i'm afraid i just turn the heating up..

throwingawaymyshot · 12/10/2020 21:22

knitted dresses and blanket.

WTF is an oodie

8Track · 12/10/2020 21:24

We dont have central heating, so an oil filled rad will be my last resort! Cant put it on now or I wont feel the benefit!

Like others, tuck things in - no gaps for draughts. I have a puffy gilet which is great for keeping core temp up. Always layers, including base layers.

A snuggly neck warmer, even if in jersey keeps touch warmer - they are listed on ebay as Bikers neck warmers. Gloves that you can work in, fingerless or turtle doves are great.

I often do a thermal tights then trousers/ blanky combo.

Get up and do something when you realise you're getting cold too, if possible.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/10/2020 21:27

I keep seeing oodies mentioned on threads, never heard of them before. My tip is knee-high socks under jeans/trousers. I bought a load of M&S girls school socks last year in black, grey, and navy. I also wear Uniqlo heat-tech scoop neck tops under things.

cheezy · 12/10/2020 21:30

I have an electric heater and luckily my office is tiny. Also a hot water bottle

NotMeNoNo · 12/10/2020 21:34

Boden fur lined hoodie (past season, ebay) Turtle doves. Layers of jumpers and scarfs. As it looks like winter WFH is on the cards I'm knitting a jumper too pullover

MrsPresley · 12/10/2020 21:42

But you said in your Op that the heatings on?
So why not turn it up a wee bit? Confused

ElectricMistofelees · 12/10/2020 21:49

A slanket, and I will not be parted from it or made to feel ashamed, despite the best efforts of my nearest and dearest Grin

oobedobe · 12/10/2020 22:03

Last winter I got this fleece. The brand is Kari Traa (ski wear make), it is perfect for wearing around the house on cold days. Like a fleecy house coat! I live in a v cold country and love to put this on after being outside.
