Show me what you wear to be warm and cosy when WFH

I'm sitting in my home office with the heating on but am still quite chilly. I'd love to be snuggled up in some sort of mega fluffy fleece coat. I have plenty of warm fleeces but when I sit down they ride up at the back and my lower back gets cold. I have a Bench fleece that goes down to mid thigh but it's not very thick.

Has anyone come across something really warm and comfy that covers your lower back/bottom, that you can put on top of a jumper when WFH with no video calls?

I bought a fleece robe from Boux Avenue. Its very cosy and warm, love it!

I've received my Oodie knock off and it's fantastic! It's massive so very comfortable and it is very warm. Thank you to the PP who posted the link to the Amazon listing. I have already sent it to a couple of people :-)

I have a heated blanket from Dunelm. I drape it over my chair so it’s like having a heated seat.

throwingawaymyshot · 19/10/2020 17:52

In a video call today and a colleague was wearing something that looked like an oodie. It looks really unprofessional imo. I know people would dress more casually eg tshirt and jeans but not a dressing gown sort of thing (and slippers she told us). This was in a meeting with senior managers too (who were dressed normally). I just cringed.

I keep something smart to hand in case I get a video call!

Also now when I answer the door - recently I was cold so threw on my old and tatty (but very snuggly) dressing gown and answered the door to the postman. He asked me if I was poorly and if hed got me out of bed.

I have two knee length soft-as-a-kitten cashmere cardigans, bought in the sales from Jaeger a few years ago. I live in them when working from home. They keep me so warm but they're not bulky.

RedRec · 19/10/2020 18:04

I always wear a long-ish, tight fitting but comfy vest to counteract any riding up of outer layers.

Coffeepot72 · 24/10/2020 09:14

I have just discovered that you can buy slippers that actually look a bit like ugg boots! I realise I may be about 5 years behind with this news, but they would look great with leggings, I am ordering some immediately!

FairFridaythe13th · 24/10/2020 09:26

Weren’t uggs originally slippers anyway?

Sweetchillijam · 24/10/2020 16:12

Just ordered a hoodie from Hari & the Gang. Its lovely and cosy. Not the most professional for an important meeting but my meetings are fairly informal. Also going to order some Turtle Doves for when not wearing the above hoodie.

"I’m a big fan of faux-fur gilets as daywear to keep warm"

I don't get gilets and body warmers. If you're cold you need to cover your arms.

Mrbay · 26/10/2020 10:54

@dementedma

Heated throw over the knees and tucked round the back. Fingerless gloves or wrist warmers - Woolovers or Turtle Doves. Longs socks with trousers, leggings tucked in. Wear a vest.
@dementedma - which one have you got as I am wanting one but not sure what one to get.
Sophoa · 26/10/2020 14:06

I put the heating on. I’m not prepared to be cold

SweetAlmondOil · 26/10/2020 15:44

Well I just ordered a second knock-off Oodie to keep at my OH's. Those things are amazing!

I bought these fleece lined leggings from Primark and am wearing them under some yoga pants. I have a thermal top on. I tend to run cold but am really warm. Heating is not on.

Graffitiqueen · 26/10/2020 16:03

The most important thing IMO is keeping your feet warm.

At the moment I am wearing a jumpsuit made of sweatshirt material, which solves the draught up the back problem.

DinkBoo · 26/10/2020 16:18

I bought a pack of mens' long sleeve thermal t shirts, and they are nice and long, as well as warm and soft.

Putting a sheepskin or sherpa fleece on the chair you're sitting on helps solve cold back gap issues, and means you don't need to change what you're wearing for sudden video calls. Smile

Gwenhwyfar · 26/10/2020 16:23

"The most important thing IMO is keeping your feet warm."

Totally impossible for me when WFH even with the heating on high because I don't move enough. They don't get enough circulation.

Those things are really warm. Mine are all bobbly so I want to go and get some more.
TeeBee · 26/10/2020 16:31

I turn the heating up and put my socks on.

Gwenhwyfar · 26/10/2020 16:48

Don't you normally have socks on?
I've got fluffy slippers on, but feet still cold. I'm going to have to get up and dance every hour or something.
I'm also really stiff because I haven't got a proper chair (yet). Anyone else?

Ellapaella · 26/10/2020 23:08

Very unstylish but keep your feet so warm - I have hypothyroid and my feet are always cold, I bought these a few weeks ago and they are the holy grail of slipper socks. Absolutely worth the price tag.

I also wear the turtle dove cashmere fingerless gloves when working from home and as many layers a possible. I can manage to not have the heating on if I wear all of the above.

You all must live in freezing houses!
