Best time of the beauty year.

The You calendar looked good last year. Didn't get it in the end but..

As an aside, why do so many calendars this year have either a bright red or bright orange Dr. PawPaw balm in? Is this a large scale effort by Dr. PawPaw to shift the less popular colours? I would not use either but they keep appearing!

I almost ordered the orange PawPaw from TK Maxx the other day. I assumed it would just have a tint of orange to it.

The You looks ok but I'm not as excited by it maybe because there isn't much make up.

I bought the coral coloured one a while back. I binned it recently - it wasn’t very sheer and just looked odd on me. The clear version has been a wonder product for my children though.

Saw someone test the orange balm on YouTube and it looked very in your face!

Bit hacked off that Latest in Beauty subscribers don't get more of a discount. They're offering everyone £10 off at the moment with the code, which is on their site too, so for subscribers to only get another 50p off seems stingy to me.

@Butterymuffin the paltry extra 50p discount on LiB pissed me off too. I don’t even want the calendar!

@Stokey I had Fenwick last year and it was my favourite. Admittedly I got it for £100 and not sure I’d have wanted to pay more for it but it really was beautiful with a great range of products. Might be tempted again if they reduce it but I’m holding out for Cult Beauty

Subscribers to Latest in Beauty get free delivery to so they save £4.45 more than non subscribers on the Advent ( which isn't an advent at all it's just a large beauty box!)

@Housewife2010 Yeah, ok, but I'm still not wowed by 4.45 off! Most calendars seem to have at least £10 off the stated price for subscribers. I also don't like the not-really-a-calendar approach. Shame as I like my Lib subscription overall and was hoping to be won over by the calendar. I suppose at least I'm managing to stick to my plan not to buy any more till there's some kind of discount on before or during Black Friday.

Has anyone seen any suitable for young teens? I have the H&B already. Not Body Shop obvs

I missed out last year and was looking forward to this one.
Two nail polishes and lipsticks. Not much good to me, I have enough, although I fancy some of the other things.
What to do..what to do..
Any thoughts ?

Frog Personally I don't think the advent calendars are that good value unless you get full size items that you'd possibly buy anyway and definitely that you'd use. I'm not a big fan of lots of small sizes as they remind me of glossy box and GWP products that I often end up not using.

I went for LF because there is a full size skin care product from a brand I love and is worth about half the cost of the calendar and another thing that I can remember which was worth about £25 full size

Otherwise the worth comes from the surprise value and having something to open every day and I only need one for that and I bought the H&B one without really knowing what's in it

Love true. I like surprises as well. My memory is so flaky these days every day is kind of surprising!
I have ordered Decleor for my DSis and got the H&B for me. They will definitely both get used up, hence good value.
I just can’t get excited about nail polish, but that’s just a personal thing.
I get mine from the pound shop 😊

I don't think it's great value, especially compared to last year's price, but just in case, the boots Macmillan calendar is half price at the moment

I took your advice housewife, thanks, and spent some time analysing contents. In the end I decided, despite its price, Net a Porter was definitely the best option. I excitedly went to order and it’s already sold out!

Quite a few calendars seem to be selling out quickly when they hung around for a while last year. I honestly thought the beauty calendar bubble might have burst last year but it doesn't appear so!
