The second one for January is a good idea. I had glossybox and debenhams last year but opened both in December. I really enjoyed the daily threads on here though and you wouldn't have that in January.

Decisions, decisions.

Mind you, I haven't got a second one yet. I'm hoping debenham's will do one again

LoveEatYoga · 03/10/2020 20:30

Well I'm also thinking would I start the second one on 1st Jan or on Boxing Day once I've finished my December calendar

You're right about the threads plus I was thinking about the swap threads last yeae

foilflower · 03/10/2020 20:40

That’s why I’m choosing Lookfantastic as my December one. I doubt there will be a Elemis/ Lumene thread (and I won’t be able to say much about the products on the day as I’m not likely to be trying a new product on my skin each day!).

chloechloe · 03/10/2020 21:04

Thanks for the new thread, can’t believe it’s on page 3 already!

I’m STILL dithering about which to get for my main calendar - Liberty or CB, and am also thinking about Space NK as it’s back in stock. I had actually decided to get F&M again this year but it sold out whilst I was agonizing over which to get.

PrincessWatermelon · 03/10/2020 21:16

Just logging in 😊

I fear when there's hype about Net-A-Porter I might crack. But I want Cult Beauty!!! Not even sure why now...

I have loads of bits already. Might put together a box of things I won't use and try and sell it ok eBay...

chloechloe · 03/10/2020 21:21

Argh. Something is conspiring against me at the moment. I just decided to get Space NK and went to order it but it doesn’t ship abroad. Back to the drawing board.

I’m a bit worried about going for CB over Liberty as it launches a week later I think and will go really fast so worry I’ll miss out on both. First world problems I know!

The value of the NAP one is mega watermelon. I decided against it though as there are 3 or 4 products that I already have in my stash!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 03/10/2020 21:27

I messaged Paul & Joe on fb and they're bringing out their Christmas Collection in November. Got this last year and I still haven't had the heart to use the beautiful cat lipsticks.

CountryCob · 03/10/2020 21:31

Quite tempted by Elle as I haven’t had it before but already have H&B and 12 day ASOS and worried about overkill, plus I do not want the vit C thing as I find it harsh or lip gloss as it’s useless with mask for foreseeable so I think I will leave it and see if there is a glamorous one which gets discounted later on....

LoveEatYoga · 03/10/2020 21:44

I would have gone for Elle if not LF, I was torn between the two and as I liked both equally I went for the cheaper of the two but I recall the Elle has some nice make up items

Dailyhandtowelwash · 03/10/2020 23:12

I am going Space NK because the product list was mostly things I want/will use (and I haven’t paid for it), and Diptyque for total luxury and slightly different products. I think I will also get the LiB box and get DH to fill last year’s Liberty calendar, and have that for Jadvent. That’s me done.

Housewife2010 · 03/10/2020 23:12

chloechloe Space NK AC does ship abroad. There's an international version on their site. Three items are different so there are no perfumes or aerosols.

I'm so with you! For some reason that I can't put my finger on, I think I'd like Cult Beauty more than Net A Porter. But then there's the what if factor - if Cult Beauty sells out quickly, maybe I've missed my chance for both.

I think I'm going to go for Net A Porter as it comes out first. And then if I can get Cult Beauty as well, I may just think sod it, it's been a crap year, I haven't had any holidays so I've saved the cash etc.

Ultimately, I'll use the products in both, and it'll just mean I don't need to buy any moisturiser for the best part of a year, so technically it'll pay for itself that way. And if anyone else can find a way to justify it to DH, please let me know! Grin

AprilLady · 04/10/2020 06:42

Net a Porter is now on sale. Really struggling to decide between this and Cult Beauty. Any views appreciated!

checkedcloth · 04/10/2020 07:04

Can I join in? I’ve never bought one before but have read these threads every year and so very tempted to treat myself.

I totally torn between the Space NK and Liberty though

Housewife2010 · 04/10/2020 07:24

AprilLady
I would go through the contents of each and count how many items you would really use. Then for each AC count how many items you are really excited about. Does one of the calendars have any stand out items that you really want? Does one have more items that would be wasted? I like to have wearable makeup, niche scent and preferably a candle as well as gorgeous skincare An exciting palette is a huge plus. The candle and palette in this year's Space NK were standout items for me. I always love the scents in the Liberty AC, but this year one is a repeat for me. I go through the contents with a fine tooth comb then once I've bought it I keep away from the contents and try to forget them.

Thanks for the tip housewife, unfortunately the international version is out of stock but the normal one is still available.

chloechloe · 04/10/2020 07:31

And you have pretty much described my decision process too housewife - I too was loving the look of the palette in the Space NK one as well as the candle. Argh. Perhaps it will come back in stock. I’ve had Liberty twice now and it really is quite samey.

foilflower · 04/10/2020 07:52

I do the same thing for each calendar to help me make a decision; count the items that I’d actually use and be excited about. These never include hair products, eye/ brow pencils or candles for me (I just don’t use the last two).

Also, it’s tempting but I don’t let the actual value of the calendars sway me as it means nothing if it’s products that I won’t use/ be excited by/ would never repurchase.

I look into the products that I’m interested in too. One of the calendars has a massively expensive skincare product which on the face of it seems right up my street and it would have been a big selling point for getting that particular one, however the reviews for it were not good!

It doesn’t spoil anything for me as I’ve always forgotten the contents by December and it means I know I’ll be happy overall.

BookSkark · 04/10/2020 07:58

Net A Porter purchased. Thanks for the heads up on the availability - I thought it wasn't going on sale until Monday.

I'm not reading any more about the contents so that I hopefully have time to forget them all before December!

Housewife2010 · 04/10/2020 08:09

Last year after having Liberty three times, I had a year off. There were three items I really wanted from it though. I bought them on eBay from sellers with good ratings who were selling the contents from their Liberty calendars. One year when I discovered the Le Labo The Noir scent from Liberty, I bought a second Liberty AC bottle from eBay. It's always worth going on there if there are single items you really want. After their window has opened in December there will be loads of available so the price can drop.

Doilooklikeatourist · 04/10/2020 09:20

I'm buying DH the Hotel Chocolat calendar ( he is the man who puts moisturiser on once in a blue moon , so a men's toiletries calendar would be wasted on him ! )
Waiting to buy DD the Cult Beauty calendar , DS and his GF have the White Company ( had a 15% discount code on the email newsletter )
I've got the W.C. one already , and really want the Liberty one as well ( as I love the box and have last year's on my bedroom wall as a decoration)

PrincessWatermelon · 04/10/2020 09:45

Please could I ask advice?

Attached, hopefully, is a pic of bits I've accumulated and don't think I'll use. Either cos I have multiple or I'm not keen on them.

I'm thinking now might be a good time to sell on eBay as people might make their own calendars.

Shall I whack them all on together or separate them? And what kind of price point do you think?

Thanks!!

LoveEatYoga · 04/10/2020 09:55

@PrincessWatermelon I haven't sold ebay for a while but last year we did advent calendar swap threads so you could maybe try swapping on those

PrincessWatermelon · 04/10/2020 09:58

Thanks, @LoveEatYoga, I've had some of these since last year!! Trying to free up space in my box to justify the 2 new calendars I'll be getting. So would rather sell and clear out 😁
