Please help me find a Scotland elopement wedding dress....!

Hello!
Due to a change of wedding plans I’m looking for a fabulous dress to get married in, hopefully on the beach, in December, in Scotland - just the two of us. I’m having another more weddingy dress made which will be used for a big party next year - an Angelina Colarusso design. I don’t want to spend a huge amount as the other dress is expensive - maybe up to £5-600. I love the idea of a colour - green/blue and something that will waft gracefully in the force 10 hurricane we’ll most likely have on the day Grin. I’m 5’9” and size 14/16. Short waisted so prefer no waistbands. You lot were so helpful in persuading me to go with the “main” dress and I’m hoping the fab S&B bunch will come up trumps with a stunning, wafty number!

Have a look at Ivy & Oak, I got my elopement dress from there and I seem to remember they had a beautiful emerald green number.

Scotland, Beach, December?
Wafty?
I'm thinking you need a full length down coat!

Phwooooar · 03/10/2020 09:07

@ODFOx nooooo - I will look like Demelza in Poldark ... looking wistfully into the distance (or DF’s eyes..), with a gentle flapping, wafting of a stunning green or blue dress going on.

It’ll have to be made of goose down and waterproof!

Phwooooar · 03/10/2020 09:14

Oh come on you lot - where’s the positivity?? Grin. I had a wonderful wedding planned but some stupid virus put paid to that so am going to waft on the beach (maybe with thermal underwear and a couple of geese tucked under my armpits)

@Phwooooar you need a waterproof heavy coat and thermals not a beautiful dress I'm afraid

Runningdownthathill · 03/10/2020 09:20

Have you stood on a beach in December in Scotland OP?

Cooltalkin · 03/10/2020 09:20

Bracing = beautiful. I can see you now, wafting like you are the fifth element. I am no good at this but I am off for a look for you.

Phwooooar · 03/10/2020 09:24

@Runningdownthathill I have in November... plus we are both sailors so not worried about weather as such and it will only be for a short while - if it’s too bad there is an indoor choice!! We’re stalwarts! I will have a coat or cloak of some sort at hand

Phwooooar · 03/10/2020 09:26

@Cooltalkin I do.. but I think I’ll need longer sleeves. Also am looking for a bit more drama - maybe with a train?

SummerHouse · 03/10/2020 09:28

To much waft?

My friend did this! She had a lovely long cream dress with a tartan shawl which looked lovely...

Phwooooar · 03/10/2020 09:29

@SummerHouse thank you! That’s the spirit!

Phwooooar · 03/10/2020 09:33

@Summerhouse - I love the colour but I think long sleeves are needed if poss and if I had a split up the front or a wrap dress I think my long johns would take pride of place. It could be a heavier fabric with a warty top layer or something? Or maybe a wafty cloak?

People round here swim in the sea in December - some people are just hardy!

Phwooooar · 03/10/2020 09:35

@bestbefore - thank you for the positivity!! That sounds like a great idea - trying to avoid ivory, white, etc as I have my “other” dress to wear at next year’s party. This one has to be different but equally stunning!!

Phwooooar · 03/10/2020 09:36

@Defaultser - are you in Scotland? Yes, we are both hardy and being in my 50s I tend to have my own central heating...

This dress looks warm and dramatic. Not really floaty though.

With a cloak and leather gloves and boots 😍

Cooltalkin · 03/10/2020 09:42

So many beautiful dresses out there but short sleeved
Why not top them with a beautiful velvet cloak / cape for both warm and waft ?

MrsRogerLima · 03/10/2020 09:43

You could totally hide long John's under there too 😁

Updownin · 03/10/2020 09:43

What about a beautiful cloak- flowing and dramatic and way more practical ( you can also be wafty in a dress underneath too). Sonething like this www.etsy.com/uk/listing/563115939/maxi-hooded-wool-coat-cloak-100-cashmere
