I splurged on Cristalle in lockdown. Now got my eye on Diorella. I used to love that then forgot all about it. Anyway my sample arrived today and it’s just as delicious as I remember so might have to succumb. Though I love 19 too but can’t justify bothConfused so might have to wait until Santa brings it.

KaliforniaDreamz · 06/10/2020 17:47

Ah yes, Santa...
I can't even spell it so maybe i don't deserve it lol.

Shrillharridan · 06/10/2020 18:28

I know what you mean kali
I've bought 3 £££ perfumes in recent months and don't regret it!
I've also ordered a years bloom sample pack :)

Shrillharridan · 06/10/2020 18:32

Its going to be a looong grim winter :(
I'm buying treats :)

Shrillharridan · 06/10/2020 18:37

....and if I really dislike some I can pass on to lovely perfumistas! 😀💜

MissBattleaxe · 06/10/2020 20:13

@EvelynBeatrice you seek Lalique Satine. Several people have told me it's a bit like EL Nude Sensuous. Also, the bottle is gorgeous!

SOTD Guerlain ginger piccante again

FloraMacDonald · 06/10/2020 20:34

I have also bought some fragrances I love recently. I'm trying to spend my money more wisely, and really be sure I want something before I buy it. Fewer blind buys - I hardly ever love them anyway.
EvelynBeatrice Vetiver can be very powdery. I like Vetiver Insolent, although it's got massive sillage on me so I have to spray sparingly.

EvelynBeatrice · 06/10/2020 21:12

Miss Battleaxe - Lalique Satine? Thank you. I had Perles de Lalique on my list, but I will add Satine too.

KaliforniaDreamz · 06/10/2020 21:15

That sounds lovely MissB

and whaddyaknow the MH one i was after is sold out! shoulda kept my mouth shut ha ha

RiskIt4Biscuit · 06/10/2020 21:29

Sotd is Tom Ford Black Orchid.

I bought it for my DH ages ago as it's a fantastic unisex perfume, but he absolutely hates it, especially after hearing what Tom Ford's inspiration for the perfume was.
I still think it's an amazing perfume.

I haven't worn perfume for ages as I tried to avoid too many scented products during pregnancy and when having a baby - I am prone to migraines and wanted to avoid as many triggers as possible.

But I just fancied wearing that perfume today, and have now realised how much I've missed perfumes.

For those who don't want to trawl the Internet:

“The French perfumer Etat Libre d’Orange introduced a product this year called Secretions Magnifiques that’s supposed to smell like a mix of blood, sweat and semen,” Herz said. “And the fashion designer Tom Ford has a cologne called Black Orchid that he’s said he intended to smell like a man’s crotch.”

And I'm really sorry for lowering the tone Blush

Benjispruce2 · 06/10/2020 22:53

Does it?Blush

Ladybirdbookworm · 07/10/2020 00:11

Floofy

Your description just made me smile.

I put my love of old perfumes down to the fact, that I aspire to smell like my Grandma did in the back seat of my Dads car on New Year's day in the 1970s.

I was squashed up against her fur coat and she was wearing Youth Dew. That scent mixed in with the smell of a panatella cigar was heavenly.
That was the day I decided how I was going to smell when I was a grown up Smile

Shrillharridan · 07/10/2020 12:09

ladybird
Love youth dew! 💜
Sotd estee lauder modern Muse Nuit

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 07/10/2020 13:46

I just wrote a really long post and lost it Angry

@KaliforniaDreamz and @MissBattleaxe hurrah! - where are the other MIA perfumistas, unless I am getting confused with name changes? Entirely possible Grin

I too have done a bad really bad good thing Wink and I'm blaming on whoever it was who first mentioned TK Maxx. I could not resist the MH cherry one because the price was so excellent and because, well, cherries Grin This really was extremely foolish though as I really can't afford it and have to get busy eBaying Blush

Cherry though I've never found a 100% true love cherry perfume despite years of looking - my last attempt which was the Tom Ford cherry one was meh, also, talking of TF and names, didn't he do a perfume called Fucking Fantastic or Fabulous or something? He is such an edgelord as my DC would say.

SOTD is Youth Dew as I read the recent YD posts before I got out of bed got dressed. This is such a wonderful perfume. I love it so much.

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 07/10/2020 13:52

PS I am totally applauding myself for including edgelord and Youth Dew in the same post. I wonder if that has ever been done before on the Internet Grin

(Lockdown and spending so much time with the DC has hugely increased my vocabulary. I'm just so peng and salty Wink probably using that completely wrongly)

MissBattleaxe · 07/10/2020 14:32

I am totally stealing "edgelord." I love Youth Dew and I'm 50. My Mum, aged 73, refuses to wear it as she says it is an old lady perfume. I prefer the term timeless classic myself.

PearsMorgan · 07/10/2020 15:05

SOTD waft from the loft edp thanks to @Shrillharridan! I’m loving this, powdery without being sweet or floral. It reminds me of MH figue amere but less juicy and with a subtle oudh note

KaliforniaDreamz · 07/10/2020 15:27

haha brilliant Floofy i too am down with the kids so don't ghost me yeah.

I love Tom Ford and buy all the PP versions of his stuff (sorry Tom) but he is hot and i find that description highly amusing.
Has the MH cherry arrived yet? dying to know what it's like. I love cherry drops wonder if it's like that... yum.
I too need ot stop blind buying perfume it's such a knee jerk behaviour...

I love an 'old lady' sorry Classic perfume my DH does not.

My cheapo Milton Lloyds are pleasing me no end. A couple of Coco chanel and mademoiselle ones in my batch and i really like.

KaliforniaDreamz · 07/10/2020 15:31

sorry hit send too soon.
I also have MLloyd - Papagayo which is like Youth Dew. I don't know how it compares but i love it. Quite spicy.

Shrillharridan · 07/10/2020 16:17

It's amazing isn't it? Sarah Mc is very clever but for incense I always reach for tauer incense exteme 💜
I adore youth dew and I'm 48 tomorrow!

Shrillharridan · 07/10/2020 16:21

I've given up with pp...
The only ones I've tried that are good (and they are VERY good dupes) are;
YSL opium
MMM by the fireplace
EL Wood mystique
EL white linen

Shrillharridan · 07/10/2020 16:21

You can't beat avon timeless for old lady classic 👌
