@Luckingfovely you've stumped me there. Never heard of it and it's not on Fragrantica. Can you think of anything it compares with or smells similar to in anyway?

teta · 09/10/2020 09:34

@Lucking there's a review of this perfume on make up alley .... saying it's similar to Via Corso with sandalwood, Jasmine and ylang ylang .
I don't remember anything about the Barefoot Doctor. It sounds a fascinating story . Does anyone else?
Happy belated birthday @Shrill 🌈. Your perfume sounds absolutely beautiful.
Sotd is Wrappings and perfumes this week have been Nutmeg n ginger by No Malone . But to be fair this is one of my all time favourite autumnal perfume. Plus Eau D' Iparie by L'Occitane & Ffern Summer 19. Ffern is now in Fragantica so I've officially added to my fragrance 'wardrobe'.

@Luckingfovely YES!! I had a lotion in the scent, they had like a matching range

Ah the Barefoot Doctor, Stephen Russell. I can't help with the perfume but he was a bit of an electronica/Glastonbury type figure back then. I hate to put a downer on beloved perfume (sorry, and I'm being careful what I say especially as he died earlier this year) but I believe there was some controversy over his sexual behaviour.
Funnily enough I never smelt the perfume, it actually sounds lovely. I was going to say @MissBattleaxe might know but you got there first Smile

Sorry @KaliforniaDreamz I totally phubbed you there (or is it aired?) the MH hasn't arrived yet, I shall update when it does!

Re perfume parlour, I rate the Paloma Picasso dupe. Lovely (ironic that good dupe isn't for one of the ££££ perfumes!

Happy belated birthday @Shrillharridan!

I hear you on the Chanel dubious Nazi related behaviour too (god I'm a right downer today aren't I, I'll go back to perfume in a minute I promise) but sadly there are a lot of companies I would end up boycotting for connections to the Holocaust - Bosch, Volkswagen, Mercedes etc etc...so it's difficult and I think (definitely a different thread though) there are a lot of companies/people involved in anti Semitic activity today that the focus should be on. Definitely a different thread though and one in its own right...

I haven't got a SOTD yet as I'm such a grotty mood today (in case you couldn't tell!) I'm going to have a bath and select something suitably comforting...

Luckingfovely · 09/10/2020 11:35

Ah I'm so glad I hadn't imagined the Damn Sexy scent - that's exactly it @QueenOllie

I can't have seen it for 15 years but I can still smell it and the thought still makes me heady!

Off to look at Via Corso - thank you @teta Smile

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 09/10/2020 12:02

Sorry to make amends for my not very relevant barefoot doctor post which I feel a bit bad about now, is this any good? Not sure if it's the right thing.

It's on eBay if so and there is another I think.

Luckingfovely · 09/10/2020 13:55

Ah @FloofyAndYetFragrant thank you!

I'm a little nervous of buying something from that range now since it stopped being manufactured in 2003 Grin

So my holy grail is to find the closest smell!

Shrillharridan · 09/10/2020 14:13

Sotd tauer ACDD

teta · 09/10/2020 14:32

I've just tried on a sheepskin shacket ,having seen it look stunning on willowey bloggers - My eyes
I look like a superannuated ewe destined for the knackers yard.
Note to self - A 56 year old square body does not look good in capacious bulky sheepskin 😂😭.
Sorry, not perfume related at all.
But, I smell nice....

SOTD L'Air de Rien. I finish today for a fortnight and I am HERE FOR IT.

teta I bought the faux leather and shearling coat from the IDF/Uniqlo drop last month. I love it so much. It is a bit weird buying coats when I never go anywhere though.

PearsMorgan · 10/10/2020 07:30

@teta that made me laugh because I started thinking about whether a sheepskin jacket would smell of sheep, in which case you’re definitely better off without it.

teta · 10/10/2020 10:08

@Pears it was faux sheepskin and really good quality from H&M. If anyone is tall & slim on this thread, it really is beautiful.
No, i don't fancy smelling like a sheep too... especially a wet one 🐏🐑
Sotd is No Malone Nutmeg & Ginger for my flu shot.

MrsLorenson · 10/10/2020 11:39

You've had me googling Edge Lord and Shacket this week, folks. Feeling very last century.

MissBattleaxe · 10/10/2020 14:00

SOTD is Le Jardin Retrouve Sandalwood Sacre. Sorry, can't do the accents! It's my favourite sandalwood ever. Later I will spray some 4160 Tuesdays Red Queen over the top for a drunken Zoom call with the girls.(Yes, we're all over 50 but I don't feel right calling them the women).

EvelynBeatrice · 10/10/2020 23:08

Yesterday as I was wandering around a perfume hall and feeling sad at the lack of testers, I spotted the new Armani perfume ‘My Way’ and asked for a sample. I sprayed the small vial extravagantly this morning after my shower. Initially I liked it - to my nose there is a strong peachy note - I don’t get orange blossom at all - it’s quite unusual and unlike some of the reviewers on fragrantica, I don’t think it is like l’interdit at all. However, unfortunately, as it developed, there was a slightly stale BO type note which put me off.

KaliforniaDreamz · 11/10/2020 10:23

I hear you on the problematic companies i feel the same with those that didnt react to BLM and especially Jo Malone for dropping the wonderful John Boyega (THEIR AMBASSADOR!!) from the campaign in China. Not only is their stuff over priced and weak smelling but they're bloody problematic too!!

SOTD tbc but thinking Wood Mystique...

Shrillharridan · 11/10/2020 10:41

Its hard being a consumer with a social conscience isn't it!?

Sotd 4160 SSOTPE for painting and defrosting my freezer.

Rock n roll

KaliforniaDreamz · 11/10/2020 14:23

Good times haha

atually went with the very sweet Georgio Beverley Hills (ML version) someone reviewd this thus:
if I’m feeling particularly flush I buy a perfume called Carnal Flowers by Frederick Maille 10ml is £48!!!! This smells very similar, it is a heavy perfume and the quality of ZoZo is so good that the smell lasts all day the brand is really quite excellent for the price

high praise indeed!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 11/10/2020 22:24

SOTD Chanel 19 Poudre.

Benjispruce2 · 12/10/2020 06:55

I love Chanel 19. Is poudre a different version? I already think of it as quite powdery.

Benjispruce2 · 12/10/2020 06:57

I get annoyed at perfume houses bringing out different versions. If it’s different, give it a new name. Seems lazy marketing to me. I need coffee.

1frenchfoodie · 12/10/2020 08:02

Crisp sunny morning here near Paris, perfect for the warm hug of DS&Durga Amber Teutonic. Smelling like a lovely candle.

teta · 12/10/2020 09:20

Safari today and it's really annoying me today for some reason. Too much pungent Galbanum.
I'm feeling utterly depressed today.
Anyone else?

Shrillharridan · 12/10/2020 10:20

Sotd m&s vanilla Woods. Very pleasant.

I know what you mean teta
I've got to chair a horrendous meeting later this evening and I'm dreading it.
Weather is rubbish.
