Actually Sarah was editor of the Lush Times so she didn't have anything to do with the perfume making. Recent Lush perfumes are excellent and they are using different perfumers now. Definitely worth a second look when things are normal again!

Bee0808 · 04/02/2021 16:27

I used to love getting the lush times back in the day before they drank the TWAW kool aid 🙄

MissBattleaxe · 04/02/2021 17:50

Although I like the products in LUSH, I don't like shopping there as an assistant always attaches themselves to you and follows you around like a store detective. I hate making small talk with them while I'm shopping.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/02/2021 20:07

SOTD Diptyque Eau Duelle.

Some good news today! One of my friends was in ICU on a ventilator with CV, and he is now home!

RazorstormUnicorn · 04/02/2021 20:38

@MissBattleaxe maybe it will grow on me. I've got a bit left to use up.

I also just ordered three new ones through the Facebook group/patreon.

I have gone from no perfume last spring to owning about 12, what is the point I should stop? Grin

teta · 04/02/2021 20:42

Oh @Judy that's fantastic news♥️.
Its so lovely that's your friend is finally home.

@MissBattleaxe I stand corrected!
I happen to love the smell of Lush shops ( smells like Phaedon Hesperys perfume) but really dislike the perfumes.
Yes, I'm perfectly prepared to be surprised. But, you know ... sometimes my nose doesn't take to certain ranges. Often I dislike them all, or I instantly really love them all. Its a strange thing.

Oh that is good Judy , to have got that serious and come out the other end.

SOTD Prolixe, Histoire de Parfums. Last of my sample, deliciously warm and spicy, very FB worthy but money stuff got very tricky. (Skip tale of woe below if you are just here for the perfume, I won’t judge you Smile )

We own a small, exMOD, house in the UK and planned to sell up to buy new place for return in August but tenant wont move on, is not paying rent (hasnt for a year) and eviction could take the best part of a year. So we are likely to have to rent somewhere else - sight unseen unless UK-France border closure and double quarantine lifted. Then organise international move and (horredously late) school applications.

thecatfromjapan · 04/02/2021 21:59

Judi That's wonderful.

Teta I don't get on with Lush perfumes, either. I don't know why. Something in their style feels harsh to me. I quite liked 'Sikkim Girls' but even that felt all angles and edges.

MissBattleaxe · 05/02/2021 10:46

@Judystilldreamsofhorses it's great to hear a good news story about Covid. I'm so glad your friend is better.

@1frenchfoodie You've got a lot on your plate haven't you? We'll support you via the medium of smell!

@teta I know what you mean. Some brands just leave me cold and there's little I can do about it. Anything by Boss just doesn't interest me and there was a niche brand recently where I had 30 samples and I didn't like one. I didn't blog about it though because I try and always say something good and if I can't I say nothing.

Bee0808 · 05/02/2021 10:48

Having a horrid fibro flare atm (I think) so feeling sorry for myself today.

I'm bored. Ds1 has an exam conditions assessment later so I'm banished upstairs all afternoon.

I save my cleaning for the weekends for something to do god, how sad

I watched the dig on Netflix the other day - very good. Also its a sin if you haven't seen it yet..amazing TV.

I'm waiting for lots of parcels to arrive and feeling impatient 😬

MissBattleaxe · 05/02/2021 10:48

SOTD Ormonde Jayne Indus. Lychee, roses, nutmeg, blackcurrant blossom. It's a really beautiful rose centric fruity floral, not too sweet.

Bee0808 · 05/02/2021 10:48

judy great news 👍

Bee0808 · 05/02/2021 10:49

french good grief, that sounds horrendous. So sorry.

Calmasasleepycat · 05/02/2021 11:28

SOTD Russian Princess by Brocard. This is cranberry and black tea with florals. It has a stunning bottle and is by Bertrand Duchaufour 🥰. I turn to it regularly.

Yesterday I wore Lynx Oud Wood and Vanilla. Worn sparingly, it is a pleasant woodsy vanilla with powdery notes.

1frenchfoodie 🤞 and best wishes for your move. It all sounds really complicated. It seems incredible that you can’t get access to your own house! 😨 I believe there are threads on Mumsnet where you can get advice on areas and schools?

Bee we’re planning to watch “The Dig” tonight. It has very good reviews. Thanks for the recommendation! Loved “It’s a Sin”. So joyous and sad and yet so evocative of those times when we were all ignorant about HIV and AIDS. It’s one of this programmes that stays with you, I think.

Bee0808 · 05/02/2021 11:48

calm oh I love those brocade flacons! Russian princess sounds lovely, as does the lynx.
I loved its a sin - I sobbed more than once.
Hope you enjoy the dig x

teta · 05/02/2021 12:21

Its a sin is incredible TV. It captures that moment in time just perfectly. Individuals were coming out as gay at uni and there was a thriving gay society.

I remember the optimism of that time allied with the growing menace. My dad was a doc. with lots of patients who were subsequently discovered to be Hiv + and it was a terrible time for him.

We watched every single aids programme and had safety drummed into us at every turn.

But I still just remember the sheer joy of being young and that glorious time of fun & hedonism as a student.

Sotd is Aedes de Venustas.

SOTD replica bubble bath for my vaccine

teta · 06/02/2021 14:03

Just a bid to say Miller Harris Sublime Blossom is in sale at Tk Maxx at the moment. Also Weil Parfum which is apparently very alike Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.
I'm also really intrigued by Fath Irrissime as the bottle looks like a space ship. Plus the notes sound good.

SOTD DS&Durga Bowmakers . Wood, leather, wax and resin, like a instrument makers workshop. I don’t, sadly, love it as much as when I first got it —and used to make excuses to go to my room and sniff the bottle— but I did enjoy it on a dull, drizzly day.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/02/2021 19:56

SOTD MH L’Air de Rien. Yesterday was Black Opium.

Thank you everyone for the good wishes re my friend - she was really sick and does have underlying health issues, early 40s. I was so worried. She’s home now and doing well.

I also loved It’s A Sin. We watched all of it over a couple of evenings on All4, but I watched last night’s again and still cried all the way through.

1frenchfoodie · 07/02/2021 15:53

SOTD Frederic Malle, French Lover. Fresh, clean and green but with a earthy, manly hum (the vetiver?). Delicious energising scent for long walk with the dog who is now snoring exuberantly in his bed.

Bee0808 · 07/02/2021 22:36

Sotd EL modern muse nuit

Had a hobbit a thon this weekend with ds1. Just had a sob fest at the final film in the trilogy 😪😪😪😪

Next weekend its a lord of the rings a thon 😁

Calmasasleepycat · 07/02/2021 22:44

SOTD YSL Opium - lovely spicy sandalwood. Love the “hobbit a thon” idea, Bee!

Bee0808 · 07/02/2021 22:48

😁
Love opium calm 💜

teta · 08/02/2021 10:24
