teta I must be behind, do you have CV? Or do I remember shingles? Either way, feel better soon. 💐

I got the flu jab on Wednesday and feel really shit today. The pharmacist said possible side effects sore arm (agony) and sore throat (like barbed wire). I am hoping it passes and I haven’t picked up CV in Boots!

SOTD was Stella, but had a bath after work and am now in cost Diptyque Eau Duelle.

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 03/10/2020 11:10

Hello again @1frenchfoodie I hope MIA perfumistas come back!

Sorry onenight I missed this thread so didn't reply to you - glad parcel arrived in one piece! What do you think of it?

It's shingles teta I think from last thread? I hope you feel better soon, a friend of mine had it and said they felt a lot more poorly than their DC with chickenpox. (All my DC caught chickenpox at the same time, and one was under 6m. It was awful. I shudder looking back). Strangely I still like the smell of calamine ConfusedI think it reminds me of my childhood. And that yellow banana medicine! Childhood scent memories are so interesting aren't they?

Judy I hope you feel better. Down here there is a shortage of vaccines apparently Hmm This year my family are eligible too as I'm in the shielded category but no one's had the jab yet.

SOTD is Beige. Of course. DH said I smelt nice Shockand expensive apparently. I am very expensive Grin

Hope everyone's weekend won't be too stressful and/or poorly. Where is the lovely sunny autumn weather?!

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 03/10/2020 11:12

Forgot to say liking all the scented houses and candle talk. I lit some incense and nearly coughed up a lung HmmI shall stick to wax melts, just bought an apple and cinnamon one (very autumnal) from an Etsy seller. I love Autumn.

Benjispruce2 · 03/10/2020 11:52

Found you all. I’m forever in the hunt for copies of discontinued Gucci Envy. I found Eden perfume in Brighton who are vegan and cruelty free that do no 42 supposedly a good copy but alas it’s just arrived and not even close. The Perfume Parlour’s is better even though their new batch isn’t as good as the last. Eden might be worth a try for others though. Hmm Wrappings, I think I liked that if I remember rightly.

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 03/10/2020 12:06

@Benjispruce2 There are a few Envy's on EBay atm - pricey though! I hate hate hate it when scents are discontinued. I still weep when I think of Penhaligon's Lily and Spice. (One HB on eBay atm, but waaaaay out my price range)

There are lots of lily perfumes but none comes close to it. They just don't smell enough like a very elderly lady in a fur coat at a funeral (which was DH's helpful review of it Grin) I believe he even clarified further that said fur coat had been hanging in the wardrobe unused for years.

I think he was just thinking of my grandmother Wink

Benjispruce2 · 03/10/2020 12:20

Ha ha! I know it’s infuriating. Gucci Envy was very successful so it’s a mystery that they discontinued it. Not willing to pay those eBay prices.Another one is Stella L.I.L.Y which apparently stood for Linda I Love You as a tribute to Stella’s mum. Odd that she should discontinue it. It was perfect.Sad

teta · 03/10/2020 12:37

I'm so glad I never got to try and love Envy & Lily & Spice as I suspect I would have loved them.
I do really mourn Vero Kern's Mito, as a glorious Cristalle on steroids in a lush Mediterranean garden. As it's been discontinued due to the creator passing away.
Sotd is Phaedon's Hesperys from last night. I find it really calming & relaxing, so I spray at bedtime along with This Works Sleep Spray. I'm still in my dressing gown and have just finished the 7.49 on iPlayer. Very touching & sad.
Thoroughly recommended.
Thank you all for the well wishes.Shingles rash is going but doesn't half take a long time. Leaves you feeling very drained for a while.

Hello Everyone. Just popping up with a community service message: there are a few Miller Harris's online at TK Maxx today at very reasonable prices...plus a bargainous bottle of Stella for any rose fans. Smile

The Ideo Parfumeurs look absolutely fascinating and are well reviewed, but are a bit spendy for blind-buying...has any one tried anything from that range?

MrsLorenson · 03/10/2020 14:13

Just catching up - get well soon Teta. I had a little sample of Mito from Bloom and it was gorgeous. I love sharp green and mossy smells.

Floof - Beige is indeed a very odd name for a perfume.

And talking of home fragrance, I am moving soon and am using this as an excuse to use up various half-burned scented candles that are scattered around the house. Some really excellent Giles Deacon ones turned up very cheaply in TK Maxx last year, including, Queen, a pumpkin-coloured bonfire-y one.

My best ever home fragrance buy (also TK Maxx) was a L'Artisan Ambre set. Felt outrageously indulgent at the time, but three years on I'm still using the divine room spray. If they come back into stock, nab one! I promise not to mention this retailer for the rest of the afternoon, but I do love them...

QueenOllie · 03/10/2020 14:59

I have feather and down diffuser in the bedroom because that smell.. it's like crack, I can't stop sniffing it!
These are gorgeous if ever in TK maxx, I have 8 backups Blush

PearsMorgan · 03/10/2020 18:11

SOTD Guerlain aa ginger piccante. More Rose than ginger.

Discontinued scents yes - mine is Jean Paul gaultier fragile which was tuberose and jasmine. I bid on a bottle on eBay recently and lost out but was kind of relieved in case it wasn’t like I remembered. Do Son is a good tuberose sub for me.

FloofyAndYetFragrant · 03/10/2020 18:24

always a risk especially at TK Maxx!

I'm on the hunt for a lovely (I know this is quite specific but I had an essential oil blend of it years ago and have never been able to replicate it) Fig and Cassis scented something for the house. (The Jo Malone one is not anywhere near good enough for me Grin) ideally it has to be a wax melt as I'm not trustworthy with candles alone in the house sadly and the cat knocks reed diffusers over Hmm

Maybe I need to buy my own wax and make my own from essential oils but I am reluctant to start that as I know I won't be able to stop Blush see also, fabric Wink

Benjispruce2 · 03/10/2020 18:29

PP do wax melts.Possibly something on there.

Shrillharridan · 03/10/2020 19:51

I made my own wax melts during lockdown - its really easy.
I've DAGT (as its my birthday next week)
I've just ordered an fb of tauer ACDD 💜
It's so beautiful and olive that AT makes everything by hand, even bottles the perfumes himself.
Dh loves it too 😀

Shrillharridan · 03/10/2020 19:54

I love not olive
I don't like olives

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/10/2020 23:38

SOTD Liz Earle 15. I LOVE olives!

Rough day here, MIL has been taken into hospital, biblical rain all day, and we have a leak because of dodgy pointing. God!

Shrillharridan · 04/10/2020 09:02

judy 💜

teta · 04/10/2020 10:37

@MrsL on your recommendation I succumbed to Tk maxx yesterday and bought a bottle of Miller Harris Tender. I'm also very tempted by the Ideo perfumes, especially the Fontainebleau one, but must resist.
I had a bath scented in Myrrh oil last night and went to bed in eau d' Iparie ... carrying on the Myrrh theme and feeling beautifully scented.
Judy sorry for your rotten day 💐.I hope today is much better. Loving all the scented candle/room diffuser talk. May j lower the tone by saying our hall diffuser is the Aldi's Jo Malone Rip off of the limey one. The boys misappropriated the Rose knock off one for their boy cave, as they didn't empty the bin for weeks, Consequently there was a very mouldy smell in the room that we put down to the broken washing machine in there that Currys never picked up due to lockdown health n safety. ( but was actually rotting fruit!).

I’ve ordered a sample of Diorella to see if I still love it-been a long time. DH wears Eau Sauvage which is perfection to me. Fragrantica reviews mention Diorella as a female equivalent and I used to wear it in the early 90s when I stole it off my big sister when she came to stay. It’s another pricey one but hey, I guess I’m just the expensive type(who shops in Aldi)Hmm

Benjispruce2 · 04/10/2020 11:21

Cristalle is gorgeous but I think Diorella has a more earthy, soft dry down whereas Cristalle stays crystal clear and sharp.

Benjispruce2 · 04/10/2020 11:51

Sotd Eau Dynamisante

MissBattleaxe · 04/10/2020 12:01

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me popping in. On the subject of Gucci Envy - I have an inch left in my dark, dark cupboard and I actually thought the Eden version was a dead ringer. In other news, Maurice Roucel, who was the Nose behind Envy, has recently made a perfume for Avon called Avon Artistique Magnolia en Fleurs. It's not the same as Envy, but they could be cousins and it's the same perfumer. You can read my review here. It's £18 by the way so not a disaster if you blind buy and you can also get samples from Avon online now. No, I'm not on commission, just a fan.

Benjispruce2 · 04/10/2020 12:23

Ooh thanks @MissBattleaxe.Maybe my nose is playing up. I’ve tried 3 copies now;Ismelllike, Eden 42 and PP Florence Spite 2 and PP is the only convincing one to my nose. Just shows how we all smell scents differently. Eau Dynamisante to me spicy citrus, to my friend it’s toilet duck!Blush Philistine!

Benjispruce2 · 04/10/2020 12:31

Just read your review @MissBattleaxe and so sad that Gucci don’t even give a proper explanation. Same goes for Stella re L.I.L.Y. It’s bizarre really.
