Is my new dress really that bad?

I've been eyeing this dress up for ages but it was £50 so never purchased, I bagged it in the sale yesterday for £22. I love it, I've got black heeled sock boots that can dress it up a little, black ankle boots (optional tights) for casual wear. Can wear it with, without a belt. With or without a denim jacket. Might even get away with trainers. It seemed really versatile. I'm mid twenties and a size 8 if that matters.

Anyway my dickhead husband hates it and has ruined it for me. Says it looks like it belongs to a grandad. I feel a bit sad because of how long I've wanted it.

Opinions?

Sorry OP if this is a genuine post and not a wind up? Its awful. Too short, ugly colours, shapeless and does nothing for your figure or shape.

There is reason its reduced!!!

Babs709 · 30/08/2020 22:15

Size 12, early 30s. Bloody love it! It’s very grandad-y, isn’t that the point?

My husband would also hate it and take the piss endlessly but would be ignored.

Bringonspring · 30/08/2020 22:15

If I was a size 8 and mid 20s I would probably just walk round naked the whole time.

If you are edgy enough you can carry it off

NeverHadANickname · 30/08/2020 22:15

I do not like it but does it matter? You like it so wear it and enjoy it.

Somethingkindaoooo · 30/08/2020 22:15

Ignore you DH and pp.

You are in your mid twenties, have fun with your clothes.

You have my blessing....

Gingernaut · 30/08/2020 22:16

I'd wear it with leggings, or as a tunic with black trousers.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 30/08/2020 22:16

Horrifically bad!!!

Phrowzunn · 30/08/2020 22:17

I like it! I would wear it with thick black tights and boots probably. More for casual wear - I wouldn’t try and dress it up. My husband often doesn’t like things that I get otherwise complimented on - I wouldn’t worry too much about his opinion!

Supersimkin2 · 30/08/2020 22:18

Lovely!

ShyTown · 30/08/2020 22:18

I think it’s hideous. If it’s relevant I’m early 30s and a size 8.

Sunnyhopefulness · 30/08/2020 22:18

It’s great - I love it - but I’m far too old now to wear things like it

Sort of thing that you need to pretty tall and slim to wear though

Ginkypig · 30/08/2020 22:19

I don't mind the oversized shirt look with leggings and boots but personally I don't like the colours especially the beige but I don't have to and I'm almost positive that I probably wear thing you would hate because my style is not yours and yours is not mine and that's ok!

NeverTalksToStrangers · 30/08/2020 22:19

It's a bit short and cheap looking, but I wouldn't be opposed to something else with the same kind of look, if you know what I mean.

Doesn't go with black though.

Zengarden001 · 30/08/2020 22:20

Horrible

Crunched · 30/08/2020 22:20

I love it, but I know my DH would agree with yours. But so what? You wear what you want

RogueV · 30/08/2020 22:20

Horrendous

SoManyActivities · 30/08/2020 22:22

I usually end up going against the grain on 'look at this fugly dress' threads and like stuff that everyone hates, but that dress is not to my taste at all.

But if you like it, who gives a fuck what your husband or anyone else thinks?

I bought one of those big puffy H and M dress the other week. Almost universally hated on here, and my DH and kids (who are very honest with me and of they tell me I look nice I know they mean it!) said it was hideous and it looked like I was wearing a bin bag. I still wore it!

nogoodsolution · 30/08/2020 22:22

I'm feeling absolutely ancient now, because I think it looks as if whoever made it couldn't make any kind of decision. It looks like my DD's jeans did when she bleached one leg of them. Though my DD is not much younger than you, OP, which probably means it's very fashionable.

I know you should just wear it if you love it - but it does put a bit of a downer on things if the person you like best (namely your DH) doesn't like it!

Namechanger87851 · 30/08/2020 22:22

Truthfully it’s awful but I never wear dresses so what do I know

Mid 20s and a size 8 you could prob wear a sack n it look good tho so if you like then fuck dh 🤷🏻‍♀️

nocoolnamesleft · 30/08/2020 22:24

Funky as an overshirt. Less convinced it works as a dress.

Dahlietta · 30/08/2020 22:24

Lots of men don't like clothes that are challenging. This is why your husband doesn't like it.

Saracen · 30/08/2020 22:25

As a dress I like it a bit. As a tunic/shirt I would love it - so I would wear it with trousers.

It certainly isn't horrible.

OhTheRoses · 30/08/2020 22:26

The dress is ok but not with those boots.

WorraLiberty · 30/08/2020 22:26

I love the colour but I don't like the baggy, shapeless style.

Maybe it'd look ok with a belt.

welldonesquirrels · 30/08/2020 22:27

I love it. I'd pair something like this with thick tights, chunky shoes, oversized glasses and big messy hair for an 80s look.
