Is my new dress really that bad?

I've been eyeing this dress up for ages but it was £50 so never purchased, I bagged it in the sale yesterday for £22. I love it, I've got black heeled sock boots that can dress it up a little, black ankle boots (optional tights) for casual wear. Can wear it with, without a belt. With or without a denim jacket. Might even get away with trainers. It seemed really versatile. I'm mid twenties and a size 8 if that matters.

Anyway my dickhead husband hates it and has ruined it for me. Says it looks like it belongs to a grandad. I feel a bit sad because of how long I've wanted it.

Opinions?

I think it looks much better on you op. Thought it looked like a sack on the model.

It's not to my taste & I think it definitely needs a belt. I'd probably "judge" you as a student of arts if you saw you in the street.

I wouldn't think wtf though... Unless you turned up to a nightclub in it! I think it's definitely coffee with friends / shopping casual.

Regularsizedrudy · 07/09/2020 21:55

Can I ask how tall you are op? Trying to work out how long it would be on me!

bigdecisionstomake · 07/09/2020 21:56

I love it OP and think it really suits your build. If you like it, wear it, it's that simple really.

CodenameVillanelle · 07/09/2020 21:58

I don't think it's a particularly nice dress but I think you look great and carry it off

RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp · 07/09/2020 22:00

I really like it, I think it suits you!

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/09/2020 22:00

I think it looks great on you. So does DD 23. She liked it right from the off.

Cheetahfajita · 07/09/2020 22:01

You look lovely in it.

DarkmilkAddict · 07/09/2020 22:05

It’s very much to my taste. Though I’m petite and can’t pull off anything bold. Maybe if the blue sleeve was the same blue as the front panel, and both sleeves were less baggy...

Looks excellent on you OP

TildaTurnip · 07/09/2020 22:07

Looks brilliant on you.

FastAndCurious · 07/09/2020 22:08

You look amazing!

Anotherthink · 07/09/2020 22:08

Looks great on you OP and it's good to stand out from jeans and jumpers whether everyone likes it or not

overnightangel · 07/09/2020 22:09

Looks great on you!

Wear what makes you happy without fear of judgment - or something like that so I heard on the radio they were saying what Anne Marie tweeted. I like that.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 07/09/2020 22:17

I didn’t like it on the model and don’t like it on you either. Sorry. It makes me think of a Panto outfit, when the lead male is played by a young slim woman

SentientAndCognisant · 07/09/2020 22:19

Seen the photo, you look really good. Love your style

MrDarcysMa · 07/09/2020 22:21

Sorry op, it's quite bad Grin

Albgo · 07/09/2020 22:29

Hated it when you posted originally. Actually quite like it on you though. Definitely needs the belt.

Winter2019 · 07/09/2020 22:31

Kinda agree with your husband

Notmewithoutyou15 · 07/09/2020 22:35

I like it you should wear it but I do understand about husbands ruining stuff i had a floral jacket once I loved it till he said it was like a grannies curtains! Off to the charity shop it went 🙄. He also doesn't like my big hoop earrings but I wear them often probably because he doesn't like them lol I'm actually looking for bigger ones 😃

ilovepixie · 07/09/2020 22:36

Hated it on the model. Love it on you

BenoneBeauty · 07/09/2020 22:37

It's lovely on you - much nicer than on the model!

PenOrPencil · 07/09/2020 22:37

You have got a good eye, OP! It looks hideous on the model but lovely on you.

creamorwhite · 07/09/2020 22:38

I love it! I want it!

WiserOlder · 07/09/2020 22:40

I like it. Wear it with one of those double wrap around belts. Was just looking at a lovely one.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 07/09/2020 22:45

Noooo! It's like what a jester might wear when he was feeling sad.
