Has anyone started shopping for autumn ?

I've bought a couple of bits
A navy leather biker jacket
Pair of faux leather trousers
(Think there is a leather theme going on here)
Has anyone else bought any bits yet?
Autumn is my fav season

I've bought a second-hand skirt (shortish, straight, velvety textured, dark splodgy print that isn't quite leopard in a variety of browns, greys and black) and have ordered some Fly boots on eBay that should be coming today. My plan for autumn is to wear a lot of black and dark warm colours (bronze, brown, burgundy, burnt orange, maybe a bit of mustard, etc).

Ellewoods20 · 21/08/2020 13:32

So far I've bought 2 pairs of faux leather leggings, 3 or 4 jumpers, and a faux fur coat. I also have some more purchases planned.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/08/2020 15:25

I got some new jeans - high waisted straight leg - from Monki, a cardigan from Arket, and some oxblood DM monkey boots via Depop. I also got a really nice black midi dress in the Oliver Bonas sale which I expected to be much more summery, but will be perfect for autumn with the above boots and my leather jacket.

I do NOT need any more coats or jackets, but could definitely do with boring layering tops (heat-tech from Uniqlo) as I am going to be working at home most of the time and this house is chilly/hard to heat. Also on my list is some 100 denier opaque tights, and some really cosy socks.

SundayReilly · 21/08/2020 16:54

Pair of knee length suede boots in burgundy.
Megan Bee kit bag.
Tights
Nothing grabbing me clothes wise.

PersonaNonGarter · 21/08/2020 17:58

Spending a lot of time thinking about autumn/winter buys. Nothing bought. A lot ‘selected’. On the wish list:

1 neatish fitting cardigan
1 enveloping cardigan
1 neatish sweater
1 enveloping sweater
1 oversize shirt
1 red belt
1 work coat
1 home coat
1 bad weather coaty jackety combo
1 oversize blazer
1 pair wool trousers
1 pair pattern boots

Seems quite a lot written down and that’s without the jewellery I’d like to get...

I have at least got all the work clothes and shoes and all the jeans and all dresses from previous seasons. Should/could maybe add a scarf and beret...

XingMing · 21/08/2020 18:12

New wellies, but chelsea boot style... in white, with grippy black soles.

Ninkanink · 21/08/2020 18:16

I’ve started looking...

(But really I’ve got to try not to spend as I’ve got plenty of things already!)

I’d like a wool fedora or trilby, one or two more long line wool/cashmere jumpers, a couple of shirts and maybe a couple of knit dresses.

Oh and a pair of timberland boots.

Already have lots of coats, jackets, scarves, hats. And bags galore.

Ninkanink · 21/08/2020 18:27

I sold six leather jackets this year that no longer fit me so I’d love another one as I only have one or maybe two now. But I don’t think that will happen unless I find a bargain on eBay...Ideally a navy blue, burgundy or maybe a mushroomy taupe.

Hmmm what else...another Mulberry bag would be sooooo nice. But that’s definitely not going to happen.

This year?? *Last year!

Fuck me, lockdown has really messed with my perception of time...

PersonaNonGarter · 21/08/2020 18:49

Does that mean you had 8 leather jackets at some point? Impressive.

I would love a leather coat this year. Don’t think I can stretch to that.

joystir59 · 21/08/2020 18:53

I didn't know shopping for autumn was a thing to do. Where do you buy it?

Capsulate · 21/08/2020 19:01

Yep, I am overhauling my wardrobe! Getting rid of lots and buying a few bits. It is necessary, as I'm too fat for some of my older items Blush. Damn lockdown weight gain!

I've got some new jeans. Girlfriend jeans and some bootcut. I'm in no need of any more skinnies! Also a couple of tshirts and some bits for interviews, as I'm hoping to get back to work soon.

Ellewoods20 · 21/08/2020 20:51

Joystir59 Those of that live on the Style and Beauty boards have a wardrobe for every season 😉. I shop at Zara, ASOS, Topshop, and River Island. (Also depop)

Ginfordinner · 21/08/2020 20:56

No. I have autumn clothes already, and since I am WFH for the foreseeable, and rarely go ut anyway there is no point in buying clothes I won't wear, and that no-one will see me in.

Stumpedasatree · 21/08/2020 21:05

Same as @Ginfordinner. I have far too many clothes, and ideally need to streamline my wardrobe of the stuff I don't wear. The only thing I have purchased are some trainers.

Osquito · 21/08/2020 21:54

My existing clothes are getting on a bit, so I’ve begun looking but am trying to focus on a capsule wardrobe (hah..) as I really need a new arse-end-of-winter coat, so most of my £ will go on that!

However, I have started buying A/W clothes for DS (6) - these are quality wool jumpers, which I always try to get beforehand.

roundandsideways · 21/08/2020 22:05

I need a new coat, but other than that nothing really. I might be on the look out for a new scarf, huge and cashmere

Jemimatheragdoll · 21/08/2020 22:16

A pair of Whistles barrel leg jeans and a pair of jules wellibobs. Don't really feel ready for autumn yet though despite chunky knitwear being my favourite item of clothing.

I have my eye on a pair of Mint Velvet flatform trainers which will purchase soo. and need knee length boots too.

Saurus72 · 21/08/2020 22:35

Quite a lot of my summer sale buys were AW things. It’s my favourite season by far - even though I’ll most likely be wfh for the rest of the year I still get dressed in proper clothes (not sweatpants/PJs etc) every day. So far I’ve bought:

  • Black midi shirt dress with small gold buttons from John Lewis
  • Navy jersey dress from Toast
  • Cashmere and merino jumpers from JL and Uniqlo
  • Black knee boots from Boden. I’ll most likely save these til I go back to work but they were 50% off so great deal
  • Purple silk maxi dress from Toast.
  • Black midi skirt from Whistles
  • Tan cross-body bag
  • Lovely black patterned shirt from Toast

The other things on my list are another pair of Allbirds - I’ve been walking loads and mine are very well worn and most likely a couple of midi dresses I can wear to wfh when it gets colder. All purchases have been funded by eBay sales of things I no longer had a use for so that feels OK. Planning my Autumn wardrobe has been a really nice focus during all of the bad news and stressful times. Can’t wait to wear things now.

JaceLancs · 21/08/2020 22:53

Bought some new boots, jeans and 4 cashmere jumpers so far!
I’m hoping to lose weight so trying not to buy in the hope that things stored away may fit again

hammeringinmyhead · 21/08/2020 23:01

I bought some Grenson Nanette hiker boots in tan when I got a new job. And a sweatshirt from Joanie Clothing.

I've seen so much I like but honestly I barely wore the nice jumpers I got last winter, while finishing off mat leave. I need to get it out of the 2 wardrobes and put it all together because I hide half my winter stuff in the spare room.

I've also got most of my long-term "goal" items (AllSaints leather jacket, Burberry coat, aforementioned boots) so anything cheaper I buy means fewer wears for those.

JMAngel1 · 22/08/2020 08:30

Oooh wwellif you're asking Grin

I would love to find the following:

A dense camel cardigan - midi length, side splits - something like a boiled wool type fabric
Some wide leg distressed high waist jeans in a the perfect chambray blue
Dove grey A.S.98- esque ankle boots - won't be that brand but in that vein.
Either a camel, tan or dusky rose leather moto jacket - would love an All Saints but happy to search for similar.
Some basic scoop neck long sleeve bodies in deep apricot, denim blue, dusky rose, warm cream.

I haven't started looking yet, going to get DDs back to school then have a lovely shopping browse ON MY OWN!! Bliss.
The problem is, my list is so specific, I will probably struggle to find it all.

If anyine can give me any pointers, would much appreciate it. Especially the boots.

JMAngel1 · 22/08/2020 09:12

This will be my first autumn embracing my newly diagnosed Light Spring palette - usually I would do a lot more black, burgundy and dark grey for Autumn so this is all a bit of a departure for me. We'll see!

MynephewR · 22/08/2020 10:41

Haven't started yet. I've got a fair bit on my list though:

Black Chelsea boots
Black knee high boots
Dark grey handbag
Dark green fine knit jumper
Burned orange fine knit jumper
A coat that isn't navy (all my coats are navy Grin)
Straight leg jeans
Chunky cardigan

I'm reluctant to start shopping yet as I always start too early and then loads of nice stuff comes out after I've spent all of my budget 😂 I'm waiting for the full A/W range to be out in the shops first. Also wary of not being able to try stuff on this year, I think clothes shopping for this season is going to be such a faff with loads of returns.

MynephewR · 22/08/2020 10:47

Also, I'm determined to have a capsule wardrobe. I've been trying to do it for a couple of years, at the start of S/S and A/W I plan to clear out my wardrobe and then decide on a few things to get that are staples and will go with everything. But I'm rubbish at being ruthless with the clear out and always end up buying "on trend" stuff that goes with nothing I already own and gets worn maybe twice.

This year I will do it Wink
